I respect your feedback. You are making some valid points. But I would like to say that it is "generic and boring" in the sense that it is an erotica and therefore predictable. You want to get to the good stuff.
I see it much like porn, you can create as much plot as you want around it, but what you care about is the sex.
So, every erotica book, at least that I had read so far, is generic and boring (again my opinion and I stand by it), because the focus is the sex scenes, and everything around it eventually leads to that.
My point in bringing up that the book was written by women is to say that I expect more to be entertained in the subject of gay erotica by men (gay men). I am much more interested in reading erotica from the perspective of men, or to be more precise, I am interested only in the perspective of men. In the world of sex and erotica, I don't care for women, and I don't think about them. Therefore, I was expressing a frustration when I was most entertained through the perspective of women
