Not surprisingly, your fellow liberals still believe the original BS spouted by the "experts". Only a couple of weeks ago Whoopi was questioning why she got infected since she was triple vaxxed. You see the same shit all over social media from the various "blue checkmarks" spouting "the vax is the cure" BS and then getting butthurt when they get it.
ROFL - so when any Liberal misreads/misinterprets "science", it's a mortal sin, but when conservatives do it, it's just a minor mis-statement? bullshit
I've said this before: PREVENTING INFECTION of the host is NOT the role of a vaccine! Fuck the COVID-19 vaccines, it's not the role of ANY VACCINE - not one, ever!
Vaccines "teach" the body how to fight a disease (infection)... depending on it's effectiveness, it can make it as-if there was never any infection at all (e.g. no symptoms), but in MOST cases, it just makes the illness less severe, and the recovery time much shorter.
AGAIN: The analogy is having a "cheat sheet" when you walk into school for a test... said test is a LOT easier, and you are able to complete the test MUCH faster - if you already have the questions and answers ahead of time! That doesn't mean you SKIP the test, only that it's no longer a stressful event, and you're pretty well guaranteed to pass - possibly even with an A (assuming your immune system is otherwise strong!)
Also, vaccines (none of them) actually STOP diseases... what they actually do is to reduce (often DRASTICALLY) the period of time that someone WITH the infection/disease is contagious and can spread it to others. (There are a few vaccines that are SO effective, that the infection never even "takes" in the body... these are called "sterilizing" vaccines, and are rare.
When you reduce the time during which an infected person (sometimes to near zero!) is contagious, you reduce the speed at which the pathogen can spread... slow it enough, and you can actually eliminate it!
That's what happened to Small Pox, and we nearly got there with Measles (unfortunately, the anti-vaxers got more popular with their wild-ass conspiracy theories - like vaccines cause Autism - and the number of vaccinated people against MMR (Measles/Mumps/Rubella) dropped sufficiently that there are now often small outbreaks of Measles around the world - even here in America [the US]).
That was the GOAL early on with COVID-19: wipe it out! Stop it in its tracks... but to get there, we'd have needed another 20% or more higher participation rate in the vaccine programs, and extremely contagious variants - like Omicron - couldn't have happened.
The GOAL (hope?) today is that Omicron will "flood out" the other variants - and with its significantly reduced mortality rate, it becomes more "endemic" - which is to say that it's like the Cold or Flu - something we KNOW is out there, lots of people get sick from it, and a few even die... but only a few and it's not a "major health threat" anymore. (Fingers crossed!)
But there are LOTS of stupid people (aka: stoooooopid people!) out there peddling wild-ass theories: like the vaccines make you magnetic, or cause the COVID-19 illness themselves, or are fatal to large percentages of people who take them, or have mind-altering (thought-controlling) micro-robots in them, or cause infertility, or alters your DNA, or (a personal favorite) the vaccine can be "spread" just like the COVID-19 virus itself!
On top of that, you also have people who self-interpret the science... people who read epidemiological reports as-if they were the Sunday Paper and mis-characterize what they've read...
This latter category is where I put people who inadvertently think the vaccine is a protection against getting the virus at all! (News flash - you'd have to "plasticize" your entire outer body to keep the virus out completely!)
There are other "misreadings" of COVID-19 epidemiological reports, like the one about myocarditis in children. First, myocarditis is just an inflammation of the heart. Not something to be taken lightly, but inflammation is a common side effect of any vaccine - because you're stimulating the body's immune system, which is what causes inflammation to start with! It's the fact that it's the heart becoming inflamed that was (that remains!) a cause for concern and further monitoring... but so far, THANKFULLY, 100% of the children where this was seen recovered completely... on their own... with no damage to their hearts (at least none we've been able to see so far - we haven't exactly removed their hearts to know for sure!), and there have been 0 fatalities in healthy children who've taken the vaccine.
All of this to say this:
Misinformation about COVID-19 isn't political, it's personal. People believe wild stories (like: the vaccine is intended to control your mind, or that 750-million people caught it in just the past day) because it "fits your own political narrative" (e.g.: you believe it only because you want to believe it - in spite of it being clearly and demonstrably false to others)... and that willingness to "suspend disbelief" - whether from the Right or the Left - is what's truly endangering us these days... whether it's COVID-19, the vaccines, the 2020 election results, or UFOs!
