Just to add my 2-cents worth - I had this happen to me once, and it turned out that the older torrent, by the time it was looked at, was essentially dead: no seeders and no leechers. So they deleted the ORIGINAL, which made my duplicate report "invalid" (according to the explanation I was given).

So my understanding of this DMCA process is that when you upload a torrent, because this site is searchable by the search engine crawlers, it will show up in the likes of Google searches.

The content creators can then use Google to see when their content is uploaded - and can send a DMCA request to have it taken down.

All torrent sites honor DMCA requests. Not all torrent sites are globally searchable, so they're just more common here.

That said, many years ago there were no "strikes" for DMCA takedowns... but like all good services, a few bad apples spoil the fun: as I recall, someone got upset that their favorite studio was DMCA blocking their uploads, so they kept uploading the same content over and over again - generating a LOT of headaches for the site owner, who created this strike system to punish those who continually upload DMCA blocked content.

Lesson to learn: if you upload content from a site, say dicks.com, and you get a DMCA notice about it... then just don't upload content from dicks.com anymore! Simple as that!

If you DO keep uploading content from those sites, you will get punished for it.

You have no idea the legal hassles the come from running a site like this... I used to run something called a BBS (I'm that old!) and as small as that was, I had legal issues to deal with - I can ONLY imagine the site stirred by being the internet's LARGEST and MOST POPULAR gay porn torrent site!

I give thanks every day that I can still log in here for the work of the site owner and his staff!

Most common reason for this is partially downloaded torrents that you're "seeding".

If you download a collection, and say only download the videos, not the pics, then even though your client says you're seeding, the site says you're leeching - because you didn't get it ALL.

On the torrent side of the site, click your name in the upper right. In the dropdown, pick Details & Stats. Scroll down to see Leeching & Seeding torrents (active) -- as well as completed and uploaded torrents (historical).

If you have these "partial" torrents you're seeding in your client, you'll need to stop seeding them to get more slots. (Or complete the download - which may be faster!)

It will take some time for the site to "acknowledge" when you stop leeching a torrent. I'd say, give it an hour"?

I know this seems counter intuitive, but if you've got programming experience, it DOES make sense
