@geobear40 said in Seattle planned to transfer police precinct to Black Lives Matter during the deadly autonomous zone:
@raphjd It took the press almost 2 years to uncover the truth.
It is the duty of the press in a free society to keep an eye on the government for the people.
Instead, the press is the propaganda arm of the Liberals.
Is it any wonder that FOX has the highest ratings in all of Cable. It is even beating network news shows. People want to be told the truth.
Sigh... @geobear40 you astound me with your inability to see your own irony! Where's POGO when you need him?
As a result of a liberal newspaper, in a liberal city, investigating a liberal city government, it is revealed that they were floating some really wacky ideas in the "heat" of the George Floyd protests 18 months ago.
Ceding the police department building to the local BLM organization was just one of the many ideas being floated - also, was an idea of running the Police Dept out of a bunch of portable offices! (NOTE: if you read the actual Seattle Times article instead of the right-wing internet troll site's "summary", you learn a LOT MORE).
Man, they were clearly in a panic, and evidence shows that City leadership was splintered and ineffective (gosh darn, that's unexpected! I thought Liberal / Progressive Dems had ALL the answers! Where were the rainbow-farting unicorns? They'd have calmed everyone down!)
But no, @geobear40 - your take is that, because it took a year and a half to get the story, the Press wasn't doing it's job. Because, in your rose-colored world, when the press asks questions, the politicians answer - honestly & quickly! You live in a fantasy world (something you demonstrate frequently). Sorry dude, but investigative journalism takes time! - And politicians don't generally cooperate, either!
THIS WAS THE PRESS DOING THEIR JOB!
BTW: The damning part about this story wasn't so much the revelations about considering ceding a $5million property to BLM, but how long it took to abandon the idea, and how many "support people" were pushing the ideas (including other wacky ideas too!)
Just a suggestion for interested readers: when there's a story about Seattle in the "political press", read the local Seattle press to get the more accurate story.
So, the next time you read a Newsmax story about a New Orleans thingy - stop and read the New Orleans Times-Picayune version of the story! Maybe the local paper is more liberal or more conservative than your own tastes, but the local paper will have a LOT more room for a LOT MORE detail than your "political press" - and those details are what make the REAL story!
Back to the main topic - DAMN! Seattle was a real shit-show back then! (Virtually ALL of the city leadership - even Police leadership - are different now. Less incompetent? No way to know until another crisis comes!)
Nice work by the paper to uncover just how discombobulated City leaders were during that month!
