Proof that black privilege is real

@raphjd said in Proof that black privilege is real:
NYC Mayor Eric Adams calls white people "crackers" and liberal media is silent.
Very true - but let's put this in context...
- Adams was an ex-cop, and "general citizen" when he made those comments.
- Adams was not (yet) Mayor of NYC, nor even a candidate (it was 2019)
Does that make it OK? Hell no, and he's apologized (now that he's Mayor and these recordings have surfaced)...
But its inaccurate to describe them as "comments made by Mayor Eric Adams" -- that implies that he's made those comments while Mayor, and that isn't what happened here (NOTE: I didn't say it isn't TRUE - he may have used that slur while in office, we can't really KNOW for sure!)
More accurate would be: comments made by now-Mayor Adams, or something similar.
It is also reasonable to note that this was not the first time Mr Adams "stuck his foot in his mouth": in the early 90's, while still a cop, he chastised a Puerto Rican candidate for having married a Jewish woman, and not a Latina one.
But hey: let's go after Mayor Adams for real transgressions - not shit he said 3 or 30 years ago!

Imagine if I referred to black people as "n***ers", ever.
The liberal mob would be screaming for blood, as we repeatedly see.

I live in the South, and grew up in the 60's & 70's - yes, I've used the N-word before (though never as a "bludgeon" as some did)...
Would I be embarrassed to see a video of me saying that in 1976? sure! Should that bar me from public service? nah - that was 45 years ago! Different place, different time.
As I said though - I'm certain that you and Donald Trump are the ONLY two people on the planet who are perfect! I'm certain that, in the multiple decades that you have cast a shadow on this Earth, you've never once done anything you would look back on today with regret. YOLO!

@raphjd and yet.. n-words call other n-words the n-word all the time. If they banned the n-word, rap music would vanish overnight.

For once, @lololulu19 has a valid point...

You forgot liberals' love of Cancel Culture.
It doesn't matter how old you were when you said it or how many decades ago it was.
That was my point.

Well, we all know my feelings about cancel-culture....
Cancel cancel-culture!

Just so everyone knows, that video of Eric Adams is from 2019.
So it's not like it was decades ago.
He was calling white people "crackers" less than 3 years ago.

@bi4smooth
The perjorative term, "cracker"'s etymology is derived by what field managers would invent themselves and later catch on with their captives. It has to do with the "Crack" of the whip. You can say the N-Word. Whose stopping you? Go ahead and do it. If you live in the USA you are protected by the first amendment right to shout is out as loud as you want. Just don't think you're going to be invited to the summer bar-b-Que. -
@bi4smooth
But nobody's even greenlit your pilot. lol -
@lololulu19 Yikes. I thought this was a website to find gay porn, not a 4chan gathering place.
-
To the original poster, if this is an example of "black privilege," are you conceding that "white privilege" is also a real thing?
Also, to add, it is completely disingenuous to pretend that the word "cracker," and the n-word has the same history, historical context, implications, or consequences.
Newsflash, they don't.
What person was hung from a tree while being called a "cracker?" Now compare that to the number of people hung while being called the n-word. So let's not play the oppression olympics because no one wins.
Also, do you know how many people in leadership positions, and positions of power (power over other ppl, I may add) have had a racist past (and probably present), and are currently serving today? Yet I don't see any post dedicated to them. It's embarrassing that this thread was even created.

Clearly, you are one of those people that believe only whites can be racist.

@raphjd said in Proof that black privilege is real:

@Raphjd - you often make that statement - as-if the fact that other people can be racist is somehow an excuse for continued white racism...
What I find amazing is that you (y'all to be more correct) seem to forget that "racism" exists within White cultures and Black cultures alike:
- Brits hate the French - and it's considered a "racial" thing, not just a citizenship/country of origin thing
- Greeks and Turks "hate each other" over "racial" differences
- Chinese and Japanese "hate each other" - over racial differences
- And, of course, many tribes in Africa "hate each other" - over racial differences
ONLY IN AMERICA is race defined so distinctly and resolutely - nearly solely - by skin color!
This blended view is so unlike the rest of the world - and it's also why Whoopie Goldberg got into so much trouble with her comments that the Holocaust wasn't a racial thing... to HER MIND, the Holocaust was white-on-white!
In the US, it's hard to keep the Greek/Turk "war" going on when the both have been marrying the Irish & the Italians & the Portuguese - & maybe even some Asians or Blacks to boot - over the generations... Indeed, many of those "warring factions" have intermarried in the "melting pot" of the US.
And, if you haven't noticed yet, the same is happening more and more frequently between the "races" that DO have different skin pigmentation! While my own heritage is nearly all Scottish & Irish (based on a DNA test), my grandchildren are a mixed bunch: one of my daughters married a Black man, another an Asian one... my grand-babies are a rainbow of fruity colors (racially), and I couldn't be prouder or happier!
But back to the point... 2 wrongs to not make a right, and the fact that some Blacks are racist against Whites, and some Jews are racist against Gentiles, and so on -- does not give you a "free pass" for the white supremacy that is rearing its ugly head in the US today... wrong is wrong is wrong.
I have no problem when @raphjd says some BLM activists are racist... I DO have a problem with excusing the actions of KKK marchers with a "what about BLM?" argument...
-
@msoft WHAT? Are you implying that this site contains gay pornography?
-
@raphjd I want to hear a senator ask this question of the Supreme Court nominee...
Is it legal to require a candidate for a job to be of a specific gender and a specific race?
If not, should we disqualify anybody who has been selected as a candidate based upon their gender and race?

Careful there - you would lose Clarence Thomas (conservative SC Justice) just as fast as anyone else you can think of!
When you can think of a way to make things perfect - even just your version of perfect, let us know...
Age discrimination is supposed to be just as illegal as racial and gender discrimination - should we send Amy Coney Barrett (conservative SC justice chosen because Trump promised to put a woman on the court) & Neil Gorsuch (nominated by Trump because of his young age - wanting his conservative influence to last longer) packing too, and let the current (Democrat) President choose new ones - based on gender-racial-and-age neutral grounds?
If you can't say "I'll only appoint a black woman", can you also not say "I'll only appoint a Pro-Life justice"? Or a "Pro-Choice" one?
Your points sound reasonable (sometimes... rarely for @lololulu19) on the surface - but if you look beneath - just a smidge - they are wholly unworkable...

And no I'm not a liberal. I hate liberals probably more than you, except for totally different reasons. -

Are you saying that wanting equality is somehow evil?
Racism is racism is racism, regardless of what liberals try telling us.
I bet you subscribe to the "only whites can be racist" dogma, which in and of itself is racist.
Do you also claim that when a black person commits a crime it is somehow white supremacy?
