@lololulu19 There is one that did. I forget the woman's name, but copyright trolls once tried going after a 93 year old grandmother because one of her grand kids downloaded something from her WiFi. The case ended up getting dismissed because they could reasonably prove that it was not the grandmother who committed the act.

RE: Comment meltdown
I think I know what the OP is talking about, as I'm the one who cleaned it all up if it's what I think it is.
I just want to be sure we're talking about the same thing before I say anything about it.

RE: Hundreds of porn copyright infringement cases have been filed, how many went to trial?
@lololulu19 Copyright trolls tried their tactics in Canada, and were promptly shot down by TekSavvy Solutions. See, a while back Voltage Pictures decided to try to take TekSavvy Solutions (an independent ISP) to court and ordered them to disclose the identity of the subscriber of the service associated with different IP address they allege to have been involved in infringement.
Very quickly, TekSavvy fought back (and won), arguing that an IP address alone only identifies the subscriber of the service, but does nothing to identify the physical end-user of the device. They furthered this (and won) with the claim that an IP address alone does not verify that the contents were downloaded in their entirety, or that the content was transferred to other users.
So I am at a loss to understand why any ISP in the USA would be willing to just disclose their customers' information, without actual proof of their claim. This likely has a lot to do with why many of these cases never make it to trial. There is just not enough evidence that a copyright troll can collect to identify the physical end-user of the device used.
Just sayin'

RE: More Racism of Low Expectations
So let me get this straight... Because people of different ethnicities have different success rates, they want to drop the standard and thereby abandon a standardization of such things altogether? That in and of itself seems kind of racist. That's literally saying that because other ethnic groups can't conform to the standard, the standard must be abolished, thereby taking away any integrity that was left.
It just seems racist to cry racist because you don't like the facts.

RE: German City Renaming Anne Frank Daycare Center To Be More ‘Inclusive’ After Migrant Complaints
@raphjd What pisses me off that this was ever even a thing is that you can't simply erase the parts of history that you don't like. It's an all or nothing kind of thing.

RE: Disappearing torrent
@lololulu19 We have a word for that kind of person.... PEDOPHILE! LOL

RE: Elderly Jewish man assaulted and killed by pro-Palestinian protester in Los Angeles
@raphjd As much as society and modern laws would disagree with me, I feel the appropriate solution to that is to beat him over the head with a bike lock until he's within an inch of his life. I mean, fair is fair, right?

RE: Disappearing torrent
@eobox91103 If it were a rule that you violated, you most definitely would have received some sort of communication from us. Given what the content was, it may have been silently removed due to certain snowflake users who have nothing better to do than to piss and moan to try and cause trouble. You should have nothing to worry about.

RE: Incorrect date
It appears that you may have caught some sort of a system glitch. That's the only explanation that I can think of.

RE: Collages...
@frostycab I kinda have to agree with you here. The rules are clear that the pictures must be a decent size and of reasonable quality. The pic attached in this example is neither a decent size, nor a reasonable quality, and thus, should not be posted.
So I second the movement for hitting the report button to have the micro pic(s) removed.

RE: The site and the new UK Online Safety Laws
@eobox91103 Well, as mods are not qualified to practice law, this is something that we cannot really answer. All things legal happen at a much higher level than us, so such decisions are beyond our scope.

RE: How to Record ANYTHING
@lololulu19 I have a rather interesting solution for being able to record such things. I connect my computer's HDMI port to a special pass-through recorder.
Simply put, you connect the computer's HDMI port to the recorder gadget with one cable, then attach the recorder device to a TV using another HDMI cable, and everything that passes through said device gets recorded. It works where all other forms of DRM just don't because of how it works. It's kind of VCR-esque in a way, but it's all digital.

@raphjd So in other words, you can still graduate and be an illiterate fuck... Good to know that piece of paper is just that.... A piece of paper.... Nothing more.

RE: FDA Notice: Blood Pressure Drugs Recalled After Powerful Opioid Found
@lololulu19 Somehow it doesn't surprise me that the dictator of Chinada would want to do such a thing. It's already happened in BC, and it has proven to be an absolute disaster.
Then again, everything else Trud'cu has touched has been an absolute disaster, including the legalization of marijuana. Sure, it's legal, but the legal stuff has a plethora of harsh pesticides and other added chemicals that aren't supposed to be there, so it's rather problematic. That has a lot to do with why I use the supplier that I use... Cause I get the strong weed that's just weed.

RE: CBC leaked email tells staff not to use "terrorist" or "terrorism" when reporting on the terror attack in Israel
@raphjd So suddenly, we're not allowed to call terrorism what it is? Makes you wonder if they're trying to normalize it.

RE: I used to upload a lot.. but cannae ennymore..
@lololulu19 I do not see any upload attempts on your profile since March of this year. As for the torrents that you currently have seeding, I do not see any leechers on most of them, and the few that do, seem to have a high number of seeds. It may be worth checking that your port forwarding settings are in order so that the port that your torrent client uses is forwarded through the VPN or home router that you are using to seed your torrents.
If you'd like, I can see if I can work a little magic for you to help get some things flowing for you.
