I don't understand why so many gays here on this site have such hatred toward trans people. It's just silly.

RE: US Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is hospitalizedposted in Politics & Debate
@bi4smooth said in US Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is hospitalized:
I agree @hubrys was a little hyperbolic in his depiction of Justice Thomas believing that the US should have a religion (after all, he is an originalist) - but he certainly DOES think religion (and specifically christian beliefs) should play a larger role in US law and policy.
Justice Thomas notoriously does not believe in the Incorporation Doctrine, i.e., the judicially created legal framework that interprets the 5th and 14th Amendments as having incorporated the Bill of Rights against the states. In Thomas's judicial philosophy, the First Amendment applies only and exclusively to the Federal Government, not state governments. If Georgia wants to make Baptist its official religion, then it can do so under Thomas's interpretation of the Constitution. If Utah wants to make Mormonism its official religion, then it can do so. You can Google and read for yourself his dissent in Elk Grove Unified School District v. Newdow.
As an attorney that has both studied Constitutional law as well as practiced it, I have no doubts about what Thomas's judicial philosophy is. You can Google it yourself. It shouldn't be hard to find explanations. His perspective is unique amongst his fellow justices. It is why he so often concurs with the results reached by the Conservative majority, but does not agree with their reasoning.
As for believing gay should be illegal, he dissented in Lawrence v. Texas which struck down anti-gay sodomy laws (previously upheld by the SCOTUS in Bowers v. Hardwick).

RE: US Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is hospitalizedposted in Politics & Debate
I don't like him because of his stances against right to privacy, gay marriage, abortion, freedom of the press, and the separation of church and state. If Thomas had his way, then a state could not only adopt an official religion, but also make being gay a crime.
I don't wish upon him calamity, but I also don't wish good health to him.

Clearly, you have a pathological need to defend the DNC/CCP at every turn.
Actually, it seems he's just interested in pointing out blatant falsehoods, particularly when they come from you, a verified and proven liar on this Forum.

While I applaud the decision, I have no illusions that the Conservative super-majority on the SCOTUS will overturn it if they take up the case.

I assumed that the earlier convictions had also been for murder.. and my own personal belief is that 1st-degree murder convicts should not - ever - be eligible for parole.
Even those "liberals" down in Texas allow parole for murder. For example, if she'd been given the maximum sentence (non-capital and non-"without parole" that is) according to TX guidelines for murder, she'd have only spend another decade in prison compared to New York. I don't think NY's criminal justice system was as "liberal" here as you think it was.

@2127493739 said in Florida to Enact "Don't Say Gay" Bill:
What, and at what age, should we tell children about sexual orientation?
I reject your conflating or confounding talking about sexual orientation and sexual education/reproduction. They are NOT the same thing. Orientation is a set of sexual, emotional, romantic, or cultural patterns. Hetero-normative behavior is taught to children just as much as homo-normative behavior. Again, I reference you back to the Berenstain Bears book for 4-year olds I linked earlier. It teaches them how heterosexual households and family dynamics work.
Children start learning about sexual orientation long before they start learning about sexual reproduction. Toddlers begin being able to identify things as male/masculine vs. female/feminine as early as 18 months old. In university studies questioning 9-year olds (which would be Grade 3-4), 75%+ of them understood questions about sexual orientation, with approximately 1% of them already self-identifying as LGBT.
The moment children start being exposed to hetero-normative imagery, ideas, mores, norms, etc., that's when they start learning about sexual orientation. There is no way you can create a school curriculum to teach children without some form of sexual orientation material creeping in. How can kindergarteners learn about George and Martha Washington without them picking up on the husband/wife element of that narrative? The level of abstraction that would be required to remove all references to sexual orientation would render the material incomprehensible to children.

why are Liberals letting serial killers out of jail? Permanent probation?
How is this Liberals letting her out? She was in jail for 34 years for the second manslaughter charge (1985-2019). She wasn't let out of prison early because of being trans.

Then please delineate the specific, discrete, and distinct liberals that you were referring to. If you truly were not casting aspersions about all liberals, then you should easily tell me explicitly and in detail which specific liberals you were directing your comments.
If you can't do the above, then you were obviously making generalized statements about a category of peoples and the quoted language from you above is a pitiful defense.I'm still waiting, @raphjd

@raphjd I have no doubt that the WSJ newspaper, overall, is read by more liberals than conservatives, since it's written at a college degree reading level and read by mostly affluent persons (which happens to have more liberals in its demographics). However, the WSJ's Opinion page (which is where what I linked is located) is notoriously conservative. It's owned by Rupert Murdock's News Corp., you know, the same company that runs FOX News. It also endorsed Trump for president.

Talking about a trans-person doing bad is not saying that ALL trans-people do bad.
I agree. Which is why I asked the original poster what the motivation for this post was, especially since it was posted in "Politics & Debate." What political or debate issue does NY having another serial killer touch on? It seemed like the OP was responding to something unstated in his post.

Are you against talking about when trans-people do bad things?
I'm against talking about individual crazy people and trying to generalize their mental problem onto an entire class of persons who happen to share a trait with the crazy person.
This serial killer is as much evidence that trans persons are murderers as Jeffery Dahmer is evidence that gay men are cannibals.

RE: Why people need to lead by exampleposted in Politics & Debate
Well, first, we need to reiterate as frequently as we can that you've been caught now spreading fake, edited photographs and that needs to be a millstone hung around your neck from now on, and I encourage all of your frequent opponents on here to consistently and constantly throw it in your face.
Second, I'm amazed it never occurs to you how absurd your reliance upon this example to prove "how all liberals think." Even if we assume that this professor was not being satirical, what was the response? He was condemned by his liberal college and forced onto administrative leave.
"Drexel became aware today of Associate Professor George Ciccariello-Maher's inflammatory tweet, which was posted on his personal Twitter account on Dec[ember] 24, 2016. While the University recognizes the right of its faculty to freely express their thoughts and opinions in public debate, Professor Ciccariello-Maher's comments are utterly reprehensible, deeply disturbing, and do not in any way reflect the values of the University. The University is taking this situation very seriously. We contacted Ciccariello-Maher today to arrange a meeting to discuss this matter in detail."
In other words, you focused on what one dumbass said and universalized it onto all liberals while actively ignoring the response from liberals to that statement. It's almost like you're a biased asshat.

but as I showed later in the thread, we have heard that kind of thing before from white liberals.
“On Christmas Eve, I sent a satirical tweet about an imaginary concept, ‘white genocide’. For those who haven’t bothered to do their research, ‘white genocide’ is an idea invented by white supremacists and used to denounce everything from inter-racial relationships to multicultural policies.... It is a figment of the racist imagination, it should be mocked, and I’m glad to have mocked it. White supremacy is on the rise, and we must fight it by any means.”

No, he's taking joy in the fact that the sicko child molester was - in any way or at any time - associated with the Clinton's.
Clearly what's going on is that the Clintons are in on a global child-molestation ring wherein they extract brain chemicals from the abused children in order to make immortality potions for wealthy Liberal elites. And, God, I wish that last sentence was a joke and not literally what some QAnon people truly believe.

@bi4smooth Is the point of this post to let us know NY has another serial killer, or is this a commentary on trans persons? Crazy knows no demographic boundaries.
