• Those who DO achieve "undetectable" are also non-transmissible... that is, they cannot give the virus to others through sex.

There are people who are HIV+ who only have sex with other guys who are HIV+.. but even that is a bad idea, because there are many different strains of HIV, and you can have more than one strain.

While that was once true for a significant population in gay culture, with the success of the drugs above, that is seldom the case any longer - except for the "bug" community: a group of men who intentionally transmit the virus (giver or receiver)... I don't understand this group, but I don't have to... it's their body!

I'm guessing that you're referencing the fact that condoms are not 100% effective at avoiding pregnancy (or HIV transmission, for that matter!).

There is another "group" that should be mentioned here: people who are HIV- (that is, have never had the virus), and who take a daily HIV medication (in this use-case, it's called PrEP - short for Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis).

PrEP as a drug essentially helps your body fight the initial infection from exposure to HIV. The "efficacy" of PrEP (that is: how well it protects against HIV infection when you're having sex with an HIV+ (infected, un-treated) partner is even higher than using condoms!

Finally, it should be pointed out:

• These HIV meds - whether to treat HIV, or as PrEP, are strong drugs - and they are processed by your liver (which is why you have to take them daily)... which can put a strain on your liver AND kidneys.
• People who take these medications typically have to maintain a regular visitation with a supervising physician - in the US, you have to see you physician every 3-6 months. Part of the protocol for both drugs is to screen you for most STDs, including HIV.
• If you're on PrEP and do become HIV+ (likely due to multiple missed doses combined with risky behavior), your drug treatments have to change.

While what I've written here is factual (according to CDC and NIH data), that doesn't mean that you should judge your sexual behaviors solely on this information. I know a small handful of people who use both PrEP and condoms - it makes them more comfortable to know that there are 2-layers of HIV protection, plus condoms ALSO protect against most of the other STD's in addition to HIV. I also know some guys who are Poz Undetectable who still refuse to have condomless sex with HIV- men (out of fear that they may yet transmit the virus).

My point is, this is just data - how you interpret it for your own life and lifestyle is up to you!

As has been pointed out, "Cancel Culture" is a societal problem, not a liberal or conservative one...

Liberals have "deployed" cancel culture on certain conservative extremists, and conservatives have done the same to liberals.

But shit didn't stop there... he got a new job (NOT a C**-level job), but "activists" found out, notified that company, and he was fired again! (NOT cool!) And this repeated for over 5-years! These people would not let the man get and keep a job to support his family?

There are many jobs in the Federal Government where the "head" (even cabinet-level head) of the organization really doesn't need to know ANYTHING about the ACTUAL WORKINGS of the agency they're "heading" - the day-to-day WORK of the agency is done by "career" Government employees. (Mayor Pete will be deciding to "Fix that Bridge... and that one, too" not "Let's use a polymer concrete wearing surface system instead of rubberized asphalt."

Dr. Rachel Levine, as the Assistant Secretary of Health can provide MUCH NEEDED and VALUABLE guidance on the health needs of the LGBTQ community without having to know the difference between Bikarvy and Dovato.

Is it good that she's a health professional? Absolutely! Is there possibly, anywhere, someone POSSIBLY more qualified? Sure, that's actually probable! But the mix of competence AND personal qualities makes her a ground-breaking and inspiring choice!

Now, with that said, it's also the case that, when you put someone at the top who really is CLUELESS about the department they head (and, to be sure, that is NOT the case with Dr. Levine), real damage can be done. Betsy DeVos. Enough said.

Do I, personally, think Trump should have been removed from office in the FIRST impeachment? No - not really, but he should have "gotten a bigger scare" - MORE Republicans should have voted to remove him, and the vote should have been CLOSE, but not enough to remove him.

Do I, personally, think Trump should have been removed from office (and barred from future office) in the SECOND impeachment: HELL YES!!

Given the precedent the (WE) Republicans have now created, President Biden can, in January 2025, LITERALLY ARREST sufficient members of Congress on January 5th - enough necessary to override the Electoral College's count, throw the election into the House (and Senate), and GUARANTEE that his replacement (assuming is isn't him) is a member of his own Party - as chosen by the remaining MoC... and there isn't SHIT Congress can do about it because he'll be out of office by the time they can try him in the Senate!

The idea that one can resign or otherwise leave office to avoid impeachment is an anathema to the concept as a whole (which comes from British Law!).

One of our Founding Fathers, John Quincy Adams, ca. 1832 - AFTER his term as President - proclaimed on the floor of the House that: “I hold myself, so long as I have the breath of life in my body, amenable to impeachment by this House for everything I did during the time I held any public office.”

Yes, Virginia, there IS impeachment after you have left office!
... and this new precedent is wrong: historically, politically, and logically.

I'm not claiming Betsy DeVos was devoid of good decisions, only that the DIRECTION she gave the Education Department did little-to-nothing to promote actual education - and actually DEVALUED public education.

Mind you, I am aware that was her goal as the appointee of Mr. Trump! But my point remains: political appointees don't have to be experts in the fields they are asked to lead! They are appointed to provide direction and leadership to echo the desires and wishes of the President and his Administration.

My point about DeVos was not just that I didn't agree with her positions (I didn't - though I admit to not knowing about the specifics to which you refer), but rather that by being so controversial in her position, she drew added (unwanted) criticism and bad attention to her Department.

Regardless of your political views (even if you agreed with her - and the Administration's - positions), she herself was a disaster for the Department of Education.

I use Code42, in part because your data is encrypted - before being sent - and in part because they don't have storage limits.

Your experience is not rare - especially for people with cable-tv based Internet Service Providers. These providers, as well as DSL-based providers, base their Internet Service Model on the old dial-up assumptions: that you will download 100x more data than you will upload.

Think about it: in the early days of the Internet, you'd send at-most 1k of data asking for a website's HTML content, and you'd then download multiple MB of "content" for that page.

However, it's 2021, and dis ain't dat!

My ISP uses fiber-optic networking (at least from the outside of the house - it's CAT-6 inside the house). My service is 500Mbps x 500Mbps - that is, the data speed is symmetrical: the same upload speed as download speed.

This capability is unrealistic for cable-modems, and impossibly expensive for DSL: the equipment needed to transmit at those speeds is expensive for cable, and VERY expensive for DSL. That's why they can be installed at the distribution center ("local office" for telephony-based DSL), but not at your home.

With upload speeds of 500Mbps, my online backup should make more sense now
