As a free world, we can stand up against this kind of thing - and sacrifice lives now - or, we can cater and cowtow to them and lose everything later. The choice is up to our leaders.

Just to add my 2-cents worth - I had this happen to me once, and it turned out that the older torrent, by the time it was looked at, was essentially dead: no seeders and no leechers. So they deleted the ORIGINAL, which made my duplicate report "invalid" (according to the explanation I was given).

Just because the Justice Minister says that the intent of the law isn't to stifle free speech, doesn't negate the wording of the law.

The only good thing the law does is get rid of the blasphemy law.

So unless I'm mistaken, once the connection is made between seeder and leecher, the tracker is no longer a required part of the equation. And the DMCA (as well as duplicate) removals just take them away from the tracker - they have no way to infiltrate the seeder's systems and remove content!

So: if you're seeing a torrent come up, and it's seeder starts to seed, and you get connected to that seeder, and while you're still downloading, the site removes the torrent (for whatever reason), your download should continue until completion.

Because the torrent was removed, you won't be "charged" for the download, but you won't be able to SEED it either, upon completion.

I know people are often confused about this part of torrenting: the tracker doesn't contain any part of the actual files! All of the content is on other users' computers! The tracker is just an "arbiter" - connecting people who want to people who have!

When you "browse" torrents here, you're just looking at a catalog of material people are seeding. (Thousands of users means many thousands of seeded items)... When you "download" from the site, you're actually just downloading a "descriptor" of the contents (including file checksums - to make sure you're getting valid content)... your torrent client program then use that descriptor, and a connection to the "tracker," to establish DIRECT connections to the seeders.

From that point on, all of the data transfers are between seeder and leecher - with no action happening on (or through) the tracker, except that both report TO the tracker that they are talking/trading data. (That is where/how the quotas are established/maintained).

So, when a torrent is removed from the tracker, the list of seeders the leecher got are still valid, and the seeders are still seeding (they don't need access to the tracker, except that the tracker is how leechers "hear/learn about" the seeder). Thus, the torrent is "unregistered" - not dead.

Long story short, once you are leeching, if the tracker removes the torrent, your leech should be able to continue... unless the SEEDER also (typically out of frustration) deletes the torrent from their client, in which case, they are no longer seeding and the torrent really IS dead.

• Adams was an ex-cop, and "general citizen" when he made those comments.
• Adams was not (yet) Mayor of NYC, nor even a candidate (it was 2019)

Does that make it OK? Hell no, and he's apologized (now that he's Mayor and these recordings have surfaced)...

But its inaccurate to describe them as "comments made by Mayor Eric Adams" -- that implies that he's made those comments while Mayor, and that isn't what happened here (NOTE: I didn't say it isn't TRUE - he may have used that slur while in office, we can't really KNOW for sure!)

More accurate would be: comments made by now-Mayor Adams, or something similar.

It is also reasonable to note that this was not the first time Mr Adams "stuck his foot in his mouth": in the early 90's, while still a cop, he chastised a Puerto Rican candidate for having married a Jewish woman, and not a Latina one.

But hey: let's go after Mayor Adams for real transgressions - not shit he said 3 or 30 years ago!

Unless I'm mistaken, NO ONE makes money off of this site... give them time to figure it out! Hey there. That's a tough position to be in... and there are no easy answers!

I would say this: start building a support system that is external to your "family of origin" - people who love you for who you are and will support that person - the authentic you - no matter what. People you can trust.

NOTE: You may already have that, or think you do, but before I jumped "all-in" on coming out to my family, I'd make sure my "support system" was ready if things turned out badly.

NEXT: one you are ready, you're going to have to make a call: it's either safe for you (physically and emotionally) to come out to your family, or it is not. NO ONE can answer the question: is it safe? for you, you're going to have to make that judgement yourself... but if you have siblings or extended family you trust, by all means reach out to them.

BUT, IGNORE "cookie cutter" advise from people who don't know you or your situation. For example: if your dad is an "Archie Bunker" the threshold of "being safe" is very different than if your dad is a "Tony Soprano."

I am 57 - I have had friends who have kept their secret from their families for their entire lifetime. Others have kept it from their parents while being out to siblings. One friend's family kept the secret from his mother until her death, but everyone else knew. There is no one answer for everyone. Every family is different.

What is universal is that it is hard keeping that part of your life (who you love) a secret. Hard, and sometimes painful. But sometimes the pain isn't all yours.

I went to a funeral for a friend who passed from a sudden heart attack. His family was FLOORED that so many "queers" showed up! We outnumbered the "traditional" family and friends by a 5-to-1 margin, maybe more! But the "family of origin" was crushed that there was so much of their son that he felt that he had to keep hidden. They accepted him - and his friends attending the funeral - with open arms. They were very gracious, but also very saddened to have "missed out" on so much of his life.

That said, I've also had friends pass where the "family of origin" specifically asked that "no fags attend please"...

It's truly a rainbow of fruity flavors of families out there... and no knows your family the way YOU know your family.

Be safe, and seek counseling if you think it might help. Most major metropolitan areas in the US have a "Crisis Center" that will have therapists trained in these kinds of things - usually for free, or an income-based fee scale.

I have been reading on Reddit that a lot of people are having issues with Transmission (the version released back in May - but the problems seem to be more recent).

My educated guess is that some support module/library for Transmission has been changed/updated - causing these issues.

Because it's on Reddit, I suspect the coders already know there is an issue... whether they've isolated the cause is a different matter.

You may want to consider an alternative torrent client.

The issue here, if you dig deeper, isn't as controversial as it appears at first glance. FIRST OF ALL: the report is not that they under-reported ALL COVID deaths by 50%! No, they under-counted the deaths IN NURSING HOMES by up to 50%. BIG DIFFERENCE THERE!

If you can remember back, at the early part of the pandemic, NY was taking COVID patients who couldn't be helped (or didn't need ICU attention) in hospitals and sending them to long-term care facilities - many of which were nursing homes. The issue was, they needed the beds in the hospitals, and we didn't know yet that the virus was spread by aerosol (we still thought, at the time, that it was a contact thing).

We can argue later about the tragic consequences on sending COVID patients to nursing homes to die, and the effect that had on COVID in the other nursing home patients...

So, a hospital sends a COVID patient they cannot help to a nursing home - ostensibly to die (remember, back then we didn't have the treatments we have today - that we had just 6-10 weeks later!). And, of course, that person shortly thereafter passes away... from COVID.

Is that a death in the NURSING HOME, or is that a death from the Hospital who sent them there, essentially to die?

Some nursing homes didn't report these as "their deaths" because they weren't their patient before they got COVID! They still had to worry about those numbers being public and the fact that they still wanted to care for patients AFTER the pandemic -- and who wants to go live in a nursing home where thousands of people died from COVID?

An investigation needs to occur, most certainly. But don't expect real-world scenarios to fit neatly into your conveniently labeled boxes.

-- EDIT here -- That last comment came across as somewhat snarky when I re-read my own post. It wasn't meant as such. My point wasn't directed at any one person (@raphjd especially) - rather a point about ALL of us (even me) who would like to have "life" fit into neat, clearly defined categories... and that's just not the real world in which we live.
There is actually very little BLACK AND WHITE in our world - it's truly a RAINBOW of colors.... and while that makes organizing and categorizing (and understanding) things much more difficult, it is also what makes life so wonderful! IMHO

Sometimes studios go through a "spate" of these things - there was a time when Corbin Fisher was actually SUING people who shared their content online!

Typically, these enforcement periods come and go - ebb and flow... in the meantime, find other porn you like!
