Well over a year ago, I was friends with a member (of high Reputation) who self-changed his original name to AFU, which is generally a no-no on this site. He has some intrinsic learning challenges, and when he volunteered for the site, the training mentorship was unsuccessful, and he left.

Just by writing style alone, I think this AFU is a different individual. It would be curious if someone picked this exact name out of the blue. And when one clicks on the name, it leads nowhere. But if it is my old acquaintance, I'd love to hear from him.

Keeping a "paired" set of external drives is time consuming as one continues to add files, but there can be a magic moment when they are full and can be archived.

But any amount of time creating a dupe-failsafe is preferable to the moment (you / your cat / a trick) knocks a drive off a table, and you hear nothing, or the dreaded "click of death."

Yes, even though "beeg" offered a much slower downloading method (Rapidgator and similar), it was nice to have around. The same site death also happened earlier this year to gay-pirates (com or net or org). Perhaps gaysonic will hang on for a while.

But with those websites, it was/is a challenge if you didn't purchase a Premium subscription to the file-sharing services listed. When using the free (and slow) download option, it was fairly common to lose a file midway if the connection failed, even for a few seconds. Oh, the hours wasted.
