    • RE: US Supreme Court shuts down religious university's bid to block LGBTQ+ group

@raphjd As fate would have it, Yeshiva U's NYC HQ is two blocks from me, the girls dress modestly while giggling quietly in groups -- and some of those guys are damn cute.

Back to the topic, seems that Kavanaugh and Roberts were a little miffed at the procedural maneuvers by which Yeshiva hoisted the case quickly onto the SC docket, rather than further adjudication at the state level.

I wouldn't see as Neil and John suddenly becoming LGBT allies. Still, interesting!

    • RE: Comic/actor Gilbert Gottfried dead @67

Kudos, all posts above. After hearing the sad news, I came across a 2016 YouTube video -- a roast of George Takei with Gilbert at the podium.

For those who knew Gottfried from late-night network TV stand-ups, be advised that his comedy club performances were shockingly and delightfully vulgar, completely devoid of political correctness. In this clip, he uses the "F" gay slur with gusto and assurance, because the crowd knows he is playing against those tropes, and that he's a friend to the end.

      Youtube Video

      Respect and giggles, Mr. Gottfried.

    • RE: Civility Poll

While it appears that most (of the dwindling number of) posters in Politics & Debate would like to see more civility, I'm afraid that the discussion has been sidetracked by all the back and forth about one poster's choice of graphics.

I was hoping that the thread would open a discussion on HOW to actually achieve more civility.  The current, largely unmanaged and consequence-free state of affairs here is unlike any I have encountered on other gay sites (torrent or otherwise) that engage in political discourse.

Is it any wonder that so few GT members choose to participate here?

    • RE: Do childless people ever regret not having children..?

@roryisms I think it's sweet that you would miss having children, but for those of us whose paternal instincts are not strong enough to adopt or surrogate, etc., there are usually some very satisfying alternatives.

Many in this group have nieces or nephews with whom they can spend time regularly, or at least on holiday get-togethers. As an only child, I don't have that option, but I have friends and neighbors with kids, and that works fine for me.

I slept-in late despite the clanging of the church bells, then found some excellent porn (a guy with a pair of huge Easter eggs) and rubbed one out, after which I took a hot shower and realized the true essence of being blessed.

rc, I agree with virtually all your points, but at the same time, I'm certain that a minority of our posters would never, ever voluntarily agree to such improved behavior.

This is why forums have administrators and moderators, whose role is to maintain order; and, when necessary, warn and then ban posters who repeatedly violate good conduct via their rudeness, name calling, etc.  You need look no further than earlier in this thread to find an example.

There's an abject lack of that needed enforcement occurring here, and as a result, this Politics & Debate board largely fails in its purpose.

@lololulu19 Of course, as South Park can't have a touching moment without a perverse one in the same show, the (sometimes) transsexual teacher Mr. Garrison also wonders why his own father didn't find him worthy enough to molest him.

In real life, my dad was not a big hugger, it's hard to recall receiving one with any gusto. Our family is Scandinavian/German, and it's a broad stereotype (but in this case, accurate) that culturally, they are not very demonstrative.

@blablarg18 Having you call my comment "dumb" is high praise, indeed, considering your vague and content-free deflections here.

I agree with raph's observation above, that Benedict was a "mean old bastard" -- odd that you are absent an opinion on that, as well.

Final comment on above: Good to learn that "A death at 95,,, shows lack of guilt." That's a triumph of religious mumbo-jumbo logic.

Can be explained as "unlucky" but if you know St. Michael's rep, you will see the spooky irony.

Spooky irony? For comparison's sake, I regret the need to bring up another religious statue article, where a little girl was killed in a park by a statue of Jesus that toppled over.

      @wrestling82:

Everyone is out of line. You're all embarrassing. I'm embarrsing. This forum is embarrassing. It's just pathetic really. The Dems and Repubs' days are numbered, they are both so ridiculous that they can't possibly exist another 50 years in this state of stupidity.

You're not embarrassing, wrestling82, you are just enjoying a bit of a rant.  And who could blame you, as this thread is well-suited.  In fact, it began with an insult headline, followed by content that completely lacked a topic for real political debate.

And somehow, this thread is allowed to remain here, rather than be locked or transferred to Rants and Raves.

Why is this so?  Could the administrator explain how a thread that was born for bragging on the "correcting of moonbats" meets the threshold for political discussion?

Truly, the standards need to be raised here, or our conversations will lose whatever integrity is left.

Reality is a vast mosaic, none of us get to see it all.

True enough for many aspects of life. But in the case of Ratzinger and his pedophile chessboard actions, advanced legal systems (from which he was well protected) try to ascertain whether guilt can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. A judge or jury follows the demonstrable facts, witness testimony, etc. and arrives at a conclusion based on the preponderance of credible evidence.

I think it would help the discussion if there were some links or references,

As far as Ratzinger sweeping out a record # of pedos as Pope -- was that really a hard # to beat? And it doesn't excuse away his inaction -- or worse yet, action! -- during his continuity as Pope, Cardinal and Archbishop.

And one can find scads of supporting material in the links above.

Ok, raphjd, we get it.  In the Orwellian world that is gaytorrent.ru, Politics & Debate, you were forwarded some material from the HelpDesk that was unfavorable to you.  And with your cute little sunglasses emoji, you're telling us that behind those shades, you're the closest thing to the site's omniscient Oracle, and you're taking names.

      Fine.  Enjoy.

Ok, I'll just let people think they can be sneaky and shop for staff to do their bidding.

And yet, we have a moderator that has allowed this original thread post – completely devoid of political content but full of taunting -- to continue, as if it merited a place here.

So yes, I can completely understand why a GT member would be looking to find another administrator for arbitration of an issue here in Politics & Debate.
