If he distributed sexual videos of a minor, he would have been prosecuted for child porn.  He was never prosecuted.

The fact that he wasn't prosecuted doesn't mean he didn't commit a crime; it only means that if he did, he didn't get caught.

That being said, there have been many situations where somebody (or their attorney) claims that porn is "under-age" because they want it suppressed from release–Thierry Pepin comes to mind.  That tactic rarely works, because once's something's out on the Interwebs, it's there forever.

At the same time, I can appreciate websites that, out of an abundance of caution, choose not to facilitate access to material that _might  _be under-age.  I don't know if gt.ru "punishes" the uploader of such material; anyone can make a one-time mistake, especially if the content isn't on the "banned" list.  In this age of home-made videos, it's hard to know if a "model" is under-age.  But if there's a somewhat credible cloud of suspicion about a given video, it's best for websites–and users--to stay far away from it.  Even an unfounded accusation of "child porn" can be very damaging to institutions or individuals.

I'm having a recurring problem of someone who is uploading crap to one I've uploaded. Yes the images are from the videos but they add nothing as they are so similar to the ones I've already uploaded. Also whoever is doing it uploads the same images repeatedly so you have a several identical images in a row. None of them improve the information for someone who might want to download the torrent. All the do is make things much less clear.

I do take care with the torrents I upload. I put the best most illustrative images that I can. I add very informative descriptions. It is very annoying to have this messed up in this way.

I've had a similar problem, but perhaps not as extreme as what you've seen.  Maybe you could "report" your own torrent, saying that you uploaded it, but that somebody else spammed it with the useless pictures.  If a Gentle Moderator weighs in here, his advice would be best.

It sounds like you're a conscientious uploader who takes care to make his uploads useful to others.  I hope the bad behaviour of some doesn't discourage you from future uploads.

@herman:  This is a file sharing site.  Every GB you download has been uploaded by someone else.  If nobody uploads, nobody can download.  The rules are there to encourage people to share, and they seem to work pretty well.

If the "sharing" concept is a problem for you, I suggest you switch over to "pay to play" download sites.

I have an application called Movavi Video Converter (cost about $75 US, I think) that converts video formats, resolutions, etc.  If a DMCA-tagged video were converted with that kind of software, would the tags be preserved?

Another way to ask the question is, "Are there people who are sexually attracted to both men and women?"  The answer to that is demonstrably yes–it's simply a fact of human nature.  It's a separate question whether to label this as bisexual, pansexual, ominisexual.  As Anything notes, this second question has to do with social systems, not people.  I tend to dislike labels.

Scam sounds likely to me:

A torrent server can't identify your email address; all it can do is show the IP address of people who are seeding/leeching torrents.  With that IP address, someone could conceivably localize it to a specific internet provider (assuming you're not using a VPN).  The provider could reveal your email address to someone making a complaint, but I doubt that they'd do so.

I once got an email from my ISP saying that they had been notified by a large studio that I was downloading copyrighted material, and my ISP recommended that I stop that torrent.  (It was from another torrent site, not gt.ru.)  I nuked the torrent (keeping the downloaded file) and that was the end of it.

I have a lot of "adult" material on my computer, as well as financial data, browsers with saved passwords, etc.  This stuff is saved under my user profile (it's a Windows machine), so theoretically nobody could get to it unless they have my logon password.  But people are clever, especially nieces and nephews who visit occasionally,  Is there a more secure way of locking down these files or directories?  Years ago I used something called Norton Encrypt, which locked individual files with a password, but it's rather clunky to use.

A second question involved portable drives, such as USB sticks or external hard drives.  Any thoughts on good ways of locking those up?

OK, "moron" is harsh…I couldn't resist the play on words.  I suppose I should be sympathetic to someone who has lived years with internalised homophobia, etc., etc., etc.  But I'm not.  He was hypocrite--not the first, and, sadly, not the last--of his ilk.
