What I think should be a requirement for not only Themed Movies and TV Episodes (possibly for some other areas also?) is the Uploader should explain in the Description WHY something qualifies as having gay content or gay themes. Often they will also simply post a torrent with NO Description at all…which tells downloaders absolutely nothing useful.
I usually try to do that in whatever I upload unless it's blatantly obvious (such as either something in the Description, or screenshots of two men kissing or in bed, etc.). I usually post something like "The gay interest?", followed by the reason why...even if it's only one character or one scene in the movie or tv episode, or a particular interesting or strong homoerotic content.
This would also help avoid people having to ASK "What is the gay interest or relevancy here?" (which I often have to do in the Comments of a torrent if the Uploader has not explained why something qualifies for being here).
If users followed this guidance, it would go a long way to resolving the question "Is this gay-themed or not?" At the very least, it would give the moderators a head-start in making their decision. It's also potentially ambiguous: Someone who's very good at making yoghurt could be considered "culturally competent.
If this were made a rule, it could help to define what's meant by "gay-themed" as opposed to simply "gay-interest." That's not an easy distinction…but, for example, I think Julia Child's old cooking shows are probably of interest to many gays, but I'm not sure I'd call them "gay-themed." Do they belong on this site? I'll let others debate that.
As an aside, perhaps we can use some terminology other than "culturally competent." That term suggests that someone who doesn't meet that description is either uncultured or incompetent (or both), and that's a bit unkind.
