RE: Phantom Downloads
I did as you suggested with the passkey. Has anyone ever complained about this happening? It seems odd to me. Anyway- thank you so much for the quick response! Cheers!

Phantom Downloads
Hello… Today I noticed that my account has supposedly downloaded seven torrents. I haven't been using the site for downloads or uploads for over a week because I just moved and I haven't sorted out a VPN and such... My ratio is still pretty healthy but if this keeps happening I don't want to see it go way down and not have a way to balance it out. Plus, I'm kind of worried that this might lead to some other problems, like a hacked account or something. Is anyone else having this problem, and does anyone have advice on what to do? Thanks in advance for your help! Cheers!

RE: Seeding torrents not registering
As of today, all of my torrents seem to be working normally again. I don't know if it was the issue with the site that amice mentioned. My torrent properties have the full 'gaytorrent.ru', not 'gtru'. Hope it works out for everyone else. Thanks for the help!

Seeding torrents not registering
I saw the notice on the front page about the service being interrupted for a while, so maybe it's nothing, but today none of the torrents I am seeding are registering on the site, even though they are all active in utorrent. (Sometimes if there's a problem they turn red and there's an error message in the description box, but they seem fine.)
I'm not worried about my ratio. I'd just like to see if anyone else has this problem, or if it's something that's being looked into already. Thanks in advance for any help! Cheers.

Using a proxy website- Anyone in Turkey?
Hi all… I'm an expat living in Turkey. In 10 days, there will be an internet crackdown here that will ban all websites that the government deems 'offensive'... Unfortunately, this includes any and all websites with the word 'gay' in the address.
Does anyone know if I'll be able to use this site through a proxy website or anything like that? I really, REALLY don't want to live without GT!!!
Any help or advice is appreciated...
Cheers.

RE: Kinsey6 f'ng hairy BEAR
As sad as I am, it actually made me laugh out loud to read that he altered the avatar to make himself look more tanned!!! I love it!!!
He was a class act all the way, and I want to smile when I think of him, not cry. So, thank you for sharing that funny anecdote!
Cheers…....

RE: Dreadful News :(
I am in utter shock right now. I honestly can't believe it… what else is there to say, except that you could see how supportive and loving, and yes- RAUNCHY!- he was in all of his posts, and he put his absolute heart and soul out there for anyone who needed help, or a kind word, or something more... adult... I have nothing to add except 'It was a privilege to get to know you, even for a tiny moment. Like a comet, sometimes when you burn so bright, you must burn out too soon, but the memory will live on. Peace.'
Wow.

RE: Cher Sounds Off ~ Cher graces the cover of December Vanity Fair
I know the word 'celebrity' gets thrown around all the time, and today people confuse notoriety with fame (look at the cast of, say, 'Jersey Shore', or Paris Hilton… or, better yet, don't look at them and maybe they'll all go away), but Cher is truly a STAR. Love her or hate her, you can't deny her magnetism.

RE: Bush: Kanye West Katrina Comment 'Disgusting'
The whole exchange with him and Mike Myers was cringe-worthy. And like you said, there was plenty of incompetence in the way that situation was handled. It wasn't mandated from the President alone. Certainly a low point in our nation's history. sigh

RE: Bush: Kanye West Katrina Comment 'Disgusting'
No, there were some white people affected by Katrina that Bush didn't care about, either, so I don't know if I'd go so far as calling him a 'racist', but I definitely think he is an 'elitist', and since the destruction mainly affected poor and disenfranchised people, he wasn't in such a rush to fix it.

RE: I'm moving again! *sigh*
Wow! What an honor! I'm truly touched!!!
I'm in a hotel now, and they actually have DSL in the room, so I have access, but my schedule has been crazy. I'm fielding several different offers for jobs in Shanghai and Saudi Arabia, and may possibly go back to the United States for a visit as well. But right now my main concern is just getting out of Korea in one piece, hahahahahahaha….....
But I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your concern! Cheers!!

Anyone from Saudi Arabia?
[off-topic]Hey guys… I've been offered a contract for teaching in Saudi Arabia. I'm just wondering what it's like there for gay men. I've done some web searches but I'd like to hear directly from people who are living there/have lived there. Thanks![/off-topic]

RE: Lady Gaga: A Political Tsunami, Waiting to Hit
I do believe conservatives are terrified of her, which is why any time she's mentioned, they try to paint her as nothing more than a 'liberal, commie, celebrity who has no business commenting on the issues…'
Hello? She's an American citizen who's speaking about issues in her country, and I'm pretty sure she probably paid alot of taxes on that $62 million she made. She has every right to speak out. And don't tell me 'She's not in the military, she has no business calling for the repeal of DADT.' Bill Clinton didn't serve in the military and he CREATED the policy. George W. Bush skipped out on serving in Vietnam and he led the US into two separate wars while he was president, both of which lasted well past the end of his term.
If she can get her fans- many of whom are feeling pretty isolated by the politics of the country as well- to raise their voices, then more power to her. I would never vote a certain way simply BECAUSE a celebrity told me to, but if it were someone I admired, it would certainly inspire me to get involved and research the issues and take action.
And she can sing! I hate it when people slag on her for being all flash and no substance. You may not like her material, but she can sing and play the piano quite well.

RE: Arkansas school official accused of anti-gay screed
The only thing he is sorry for is that he was caught. And since he was stupid enough to post on one of the largest social interaction sites on the interweb, you have to wonder if there's a small part of him that WANTED this attention. You know the old saying about 'The lady doth protest too much…'
I've always believed that the most virulent homophobes are the ones who are overcompensating for an attraction to the same sex. I firmly believe that Fred Phelps has a tremendous homosexual desire, but he has spent his whole life denying it and creating a hate-filled message that, ultimately, he is saying to himself.
There's a Scottish saying, 'More to be pitied than censured.' It fits here, but sometimes I do want to see them punished.

RE: Doubts about being gay…
I'm not sure if you've seen what's been happening in the United States lately with all the gay teen suicides, but there is a great video program in response called 'It Gets Better'. If you go to YouTube and search that term, you can see some really wonderful messages from people of all walks of life- some famous, some not. But it may give you some relief. I know firsthand how difficult it is when your family doesn't support you. When I came out, my parents told me I was going to die of AIDS and burn in hell, and they considered it their 'Christian duty' to save me from that. I spent many years fighting with them and going back and forth and back and forth. My father, actually, was able to come to terms with it, but my mother never has. She barely speaks to me and when she does it's always very general. "How's the weather?" kind of chit chat. Of course, I am sad about that, but it's her decision. And I've learned to make a life for myself and surround myself with people that care about me and would do anything for me. THAT is unconditional love, and you hope that your family can show it to you, but if they don't, you CAN find it. And you deserve it. We all do. Cheers!
