I'm an American living overseas, but I use 'Yahoo' for my email, and this morning when I logged in this was one of the top stories. Of course, I was shocked and saddened to read it. So much pain caused by such a stupid prank.

What disgusted me, however, was the 'Comments' section. I know the anonymity of the internet generally brings out the worst in people, but I could only stomach about 10-15 comments before I had to turn the computer off and walk away. I used to think I would live abroad for about 2 more years and then eventually move back to the United States, but more and more I think that I just don't have a home there. I know you can find bigotry and hatred in many places, but it seems like persecuting gays/lesbians/queers is becoming more and more accepted in America.

I feel… terrible.

I'm an American who's been living in Korea for the last two years, and as far as I can tell, the society is much too conservative for the porn industry to flourish. Now, that's not to say the sex industry doesn't exist here, because it does- but only for straight sex. There's plenty of places where straight men can rent rooms that include a woman to do their bidding. And, of course, many of the larger cities have 'gay saunas' where men go and have sex with each other, but they don't really think of themselves as 'gay'. In fact, most of them are married. In all my time here, I've never seen one porn movie- gay or straight- that's made in Korea starring Koreans.

There's a couple of clips floating around that feature guys on the Korean subway fooling around or in public saunas, but nothing like the actual studio movies from Japan. Which is a shame, because I think Korean guys are unbelievably hot, too!

You raise an interesting point… I'm interested in hearing if other people are interested in this 'ten votes and it's in' proposal that you've submitted. I guess it would guarantee- at least in the beginning- that there's some interest in the torrent. And by extrapolating the number of members who don't ever visit the forums, we could guess that if 10 people are interested enough in the torrent to mark it down, surely enough people would be interested once they see it out in the 'New Torrent' section.

I'll be waiting- with interest, of course- to see how this all progresses.

For me, you hit on two important points: first, our families are very important to us, because they are the first environment we are placed in, but if it's not a healthy environment (for whatever reason) sometimes you just have to get out of it, at least for awhile. When I was much younger, my home life was so bad that I had to move out and stay with a friend's family. It was very difficult, but I had to take care of myself.

The second point is that we are not alone, and it's not a sign of weakness to ask for help. Even from strangers. We're all connected, and by helping each other we are helping ourselves. It's the circle of life, Simba!
