    • RE: CAN ANYBODY HELP ME WITH FINDING A GOOD MUSIC TORRENT SEARCH ENGINE?

      @cannonmc:

You'll have some problem with KickAss Torrents - the original has ceased.

Two good sources for music are usenet and good ol' youtube. Some amazing hard to find music there and there are plenty of download helpers around.

Not positive about private music trackers - they do seem to be elitist, and I'm not talking about the music.

Haha. Well, shows how much I've bothered to try using KickAss since getting into other trackers! Youtube is definitley good for sampling a lot of different music, and there's literally shit tons of even very obscure recordings on there, though ripping audio from youtube is far from an ideal solution. I'm not knocking it, though. I've done it too as a last resort when all other sources failed to turn up results.

As for private music trackers being elitist, I am not sure what you mean. True, they have a lot of rules, but that's because they typically have high standards for torrents uploaded and for the users who download them. As with any tracker, you should seed for as long as possible. Pay it forward and you'll be rewarded with the privilege of being allowed to remain a member, which is really simple and not a lot to ask. High standards are a good thing, because they offer some guarantee that you'll get quality torrents and reliable seeders more often than not.

Or do you mean the users themselves are elitist? From my personal experience, a lot of people on private music trackers who are really active in their respective forums are your typical annoying, college-aged wannabe-bohemes, trendies, "hipsters", etc., but, fortunately, you don't have to interact with them just to use the trackers. At any rate, I wouldn't call them "elitist" per se. Annoying, yes, but not really elitist.

Just my two cents, of course. If the other suggestions suffice for the OP, that's fine too. I don't expect everyone to be as anal about lossless files and logs and CUE sheets and 24-bit vinyl rips I can't tell sound any different from 320Kbps rips (but can "feel" the difference ::)) as I am. 😛

    • RE: Sleeping with married men IS NOT OKAY.

IMHO, cheating is a selfish thing to do under just about any circumstances. Being complicit in it isn't any better. The only instance where it doesn't strike me as totally shitty is when a couple is separated, divorced or planning to divorce and they really have no semblance of a relationship left. Beyond that, if the damage you could cause doesn't bother you in the least, you're probably a narcissistic asshole who doesn't deserve to be in real relationships anyway. That's true of most cheaters, though, so I guess pointing that out is a bit like screaming at a wall.

I am all for honest open relationships and whatever other kinds of relationships consenting adults want to get into. I am not going to defend sham relationships when you have to lie to your wife, partner or SO just to satisfy your own fleeting sexual desires, though. Don't agree to the terms unless you're prepared to hold up your end of the bargain. Simple as that.

Now, let's get another thing clear: None of this has anything whatsoever to do with "political correctness". I fucking hate PC culture, but it's completely irrelevant to this topic. People are conflating "political correctness" with centuries-old Western precepts of interrelational morality. Learn what words mean before parroting them to sound educated (also laughing about the incredibly awkward and unnecessary use of the word "paradigm" in this thread, BTW). A lot of hysterical PC idiots would actually say that monogamy and "traditional Western values" in general (which are admittedly based partly in Christianity*) are bad things.

*It's true that a lot of our Western morals and principles are rooted in Christianity, but those morals and principles have evolved and matured far beyond unquestioning religious deference over the centuries. It would be incredibly naive to boil them all down to archaic religious fundamentalism. It would be outright dishonest to eschew them entirely as some kind of suffocating dogmatic weight foisted on you by society.

    • RE: CAN ANYBODY HELP ME WITH FINDING A GOOD MUSIC TORRENT SEARCH ENGINE?

Not to be a dick, but Pirate Bay and similar trackers like Kickass Torrents are about the crummiest options available. The only upside is that everyone and their grandma knows about them, so they stays relatively active, and a lot of mainstream/big name releases end up on them. Private trackers, and even Soulseek, are way better in terms of variety, though. TPB is a last resort for basically everything (music, films, GAY PORN, etc.) if you don't have any other options.

I think what TPB does best is software cracks, but even that is covered sufficiently by other private trackers, and you're far less likely to get (or even have to worry about getting) malware and virus-infected cracks/installers on a private tracker, because private trackers have, like, standards and pride and a sense of duty and stuff…

Why would I downvote you for that? ::) It seems really strange that people can be so hung up on themselves that they'd take a difference in opinion/preference, however minor, as a personal affront to them. FWIW, I'm not directing that at you, but people who downvote every single thing that doesn't echo their own opinions. It's not that deep.

Never liked it, but my mom and sisters did, and I was regularly subjected to it as a result. Though I still wouldn't consider myself a fan, I do have a nostalgic appreciation for it now. Whenever the show comes up, my mom always jokes about being unwilling to suspend her disbelief over the revealing clothes Phoebe would wear to the office, despite doing so for everything else.

    • RE: Worst current TV series

I can honestly say I don't like most of what's on TV… If it doesn't outright annoy me, it bores me to tears... I stick to syndicated shows, cartoons, local news and Investigation Discovery. That's about it.

There's plenty of things I dislike in all the stuff I do watch too, though. Most sitcoms are bland garbage, regardless of when they were made. Many cartoons are as well, if they're not just plain annoying. I always change the channel as soon as sports coverage comes on the local news, and ID has a number of shows I don't care about in the slightest. Plus, its programming tends to be extremely one-dimensional.

I think I might just be depressed or something. I can't understand how people get so excited about films and TV shows. They're almost always so boring and over-hyped to me. Or maybe it's just that I am boring. I can't get excited in the least about, say, the new Doctor Who or anything Joss Whedon touches (I can't stand his writing style anyway), but I could watch Antiques Roadshow all fucking day.

Is Grey's Anatomy still on? Fuck, I hate that show.

I'm really ambivalent about them… Sometimes I just think they're such an awful waste of good skin, and other times, I think they can be very sexy... There's something about a glistening, oiled tattoo that is very hot, especially if it's one with lots of solid black portions... I think, for someone I'm going to be seeing naked often, I'd prefer minimal-to-no tattoos, yet I still get turned on seeing images like this:

    • RE: How old were you when you came out?

For friends, I've always kind of hinted without overtly saying it. I think most of them have taken the hint. I've only plainly told a handful of female friends in the midst of a very unpleasant period where I was crushing hard on a mutual straight friend. I told him eventually. We don't really talk anymore, haha. ::) I came out to one of my sisters in my early 20's. My mom in my early 20's, too. She doesn't seem to "get it". We don't discuss it much. ::)

It's basically an open secret with me. I don't really hide it or advertise it, but I don't mind telling people if they ask.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic, haha. He charms his way into your heart and then he does all this stupid shit that makes you want to hate him, but then he charms you again, and it becomes an endless cycle of loving him and wanting to move on and forget him completely… I have Morrissey Stockholm syndrome. 😕 He's such a narcissistic prima donna asshat, and that's only become more and more apparent since about the mid-90's on, but.... It's Morrissey, y'know? I still love him, in spite of everything. I think I hate his sycophantic fans, yes men and enablers more than anything, to be honest.

I've never done it, but I am open to it. Though it's not something I really fantasize about, it seems like it'd be enjoyable. The idea of a guy cumming on my cock turns me on, and the idea of him cumming inside my foreskin sounds pretty hot too, now that I think about it.

    • RE: Asians or latinos

I like both, as long as they have an adult haircut. Even long hair is fine with me, as long as it's kept natural and styled handsomely, and not in some ghastly, bleached mullet-mop thing that seems inexplicably popular among certain groups of Asian men. That kind of hairstyle is a major turn-off for me. I love natural, dark hair on both Asian and Latino men, though.

    • RE: Small dicks turn me on!

There was a topic I posted in not too long ago about this, but I too like small cocks. I like any cocks, honestly, but I prefer small-to-average cocks most of all, especially for sucking. There's something about being able to go to town on a guy's cock and really work it over that really excites me. Being able to accomplish this so fully and effortlessly with smaller guys is a major part of the appeal for me. They're just so much fun to service. I like Asian guys in general, though I admit, a small part of the attraction is the idealized/stereotyped "smaller" penis. I enjoy them on any guys, though, not just Asians.

I dunno who this guy is, but I would happily suck him off all day long:

    • RE: Not sexually attracted to fat men..?

People that get offended over irrelevant shit like this are just projecting their own self-loathing, paranoia and hostility onto other people. Most of them either are fat, hate the fact that they are and refuse to just own it or make any effort to change it, or they are the types of people who selfishly and manipulatively use fat "issues" as a prop to push their own personal agendas. Take it from me, as a bigger guy myself, you not being physically attracted to big guys is completely acceptable. There's nothing to feel guilty about as long as you're not rude about it (don't flatten your nose and make pig noises like a five year old when saying you're not into fat guys, basically).

People who say otherwise are spoiled, self-indulgent brats who believe the world revolves around them (no fat joke intended there ;D). Me? I accept my faults and my obligations with regards to my weight, even if I don't always act on them. It's okay if people don't "want me" because I'm bigger. Hell, it's okay if they think I'm repulsive. As long as they're adult enough that they can express this respectfully/diplomatically, I don't expect the world to walk on eggshells around me just because of my "condition". I realize it's usually well-intentioned, but it's pretty insulting to me that people think my feelings are so damn fragile that I "just can't even!" handle the (very logical) stigma against obesity, or that I need everyone to lie and tell me that I am "healthy" and "beautiful" to feel good about myself as a person. I don't think I'm that amazing or interesting of a person, but I know I have enough good qualities that I don't need constant validation about my appearance to feel good about myself like so many of the dull-as-dishwater problem glasses-and-mermaid hair girls on tumblr who cook up this kind of guilt trip nonsense apparently do. Because I am an adult, and I have some semblance of a personality and a sense of self.

I can deal with the fact that not everyone is going to believe I'm attractive. I'm not so spoiled, immature or narcissistic that I think they should. The fact of the matter is, I do alright. Some guys really like bigger guys. A lot. I get enough action/attention without even looking for it, and that's even with my really crippling anxiety (which is something way more deserving of people's time, attention and understanding than my outward appearance. I'd probably be a good deal thinner if I could stand to go for a walk/jog in public).

I didn't mean to turn this into a rant, but I am just so tired of people manipulating my problems to score political points and treating me like a helpless child who can't handle reality. Anyone who tells you your preference is "wrong" is just an asshole and should be disregarded until they grow the fuck up and pull their head out of their ass.

    • RE: Are pop groups still relevant?

I grew up during the late 90's boyband craze too, and I thought they were garbage at the time. These days, I can look back and they actually sound alright. I'm sure there's a big nostalgia factor at play there. That said, there were a lot of boybands back then that I still think are shitty and half-baked today (LFO… I always did and still do fucking hate that "Summer Girls" song).

These days, I am too old for this shit. I don't listen to AM/FM radio or keep up with popular music, so I hardly know anything about today's "boybands", but I'm sure they're crap as anything. Clearly, though, they are still relevant. I still see the One Direction and Justin Beiber posters that little girls and confused boys pick up at Wally World. the same posters that used to feature NSync and Britney Spears. Do I care for/about it? No, but it's obviously still "relevant" outside of my little bubble.

    • RE: State of modern alternative rock

I was a kid in the mid-late 90's. Back then, I was all about stuff like Korn and Deftones (they were both huge at the time). TBH, I can't stand the stuff now (I can tolerate the old Deftones stuff, but Korn just sounds like the product a bunch of dumb, white trash tweakers, because that's precisely what they were in those days).

The only band from back then that I still really love (love) today is Type O Negative, but they've always stuck out like a sore thumb amongst the "alt./numetal/groove metal/post-grunge/blah blah blah" bands that were de rigueur in the mid-to-late 90's and early 2000's.

I like some of the pre-numetal "grunge/alternative" from the late 80's and early 90's as well, but I think a lot of it sounds painfully dated and manufactured, and, TBH, I can't stand the cult of personality surrounding people like Cobain. Stuff like Melvins and Dinosaur Jr. is really good, though, I think.

There's no way to narrow it down to just one…

Christian Death - Only Theatre of Pain
Cocteau Twins - Blue Bell Knoll (yeah, yeah...)
Subhumans - From the Cradle to the Grave
The Smiths - I own practically everything of theirs (not including EP's/singles) on numerous formats
      Kate Bush - The Dreaming
      Rudimentary Peni - Cacophony
      Slowdive - Souvlaki

There's more I can't think of right now, I assure you.
