    • RE: New here, What trackers does the site use?

It looks you've found the right "tracker". GayTorrent.ru got it's own private tracker and you have to use the tracker announce URL shown in your Profile. It contains a secrete passkey allowing to identify you to connect to the tracker and to update the account statistics. This update happens in 30 minutes intervals.

When you use the "Download" button, you'll get the torrent with the right tracker inserted. Don't share that small .torrent file with others, they would leech on your account.

    • RE: When are lines drawn?

      @bjk1961:

I would like to add my two-cents worth.  I believe it is entirely appropriate for GTRU to remove any post that includes blood, especially when used as entertainment.  That would include dog-fighting, bear-baiting, MMA, wrestling, etc.  Of course, it is up to the users to report the matter.

dog-fighting and bear-bating already don't fit, because it isn't neither porn, nor LGBTQ themed, nor a free torrent or media application. So it doen't even need blood or cruelty been shown.

I've seen some "catching" (in opposite to wrestling) with violence, which to me appeared as acted/played and not real. Simply bad taste theatre, but not crossing the line (e.g. to fall under "Mutilation & Blood Consumption" or "Non-Sexual Bondage & Torture"). There was no blood involved though. Up to everyone to decide on its own if he/she wants to watch that.

We allow not porn, not LGBTQ themed content for the attraction of the adult male physics and the examples given as "bodybuilding, wrestling and underwear/swimwear" have a quite important following with our membership. Common is the half naked body, respectively tight sportswear and/or athletic or muscular bodies.

Personally I hope that blood sport question regulates itself by not finding a follow-ship. The recent torrent (and as I know only) has not been reported as "seems to cross the line of basic common decency", so it seems not be very bloody or of cruel violence, or those who don't like such content were efficiently scared away by the description.

      What means MMA?

    • RE: How to convert FLV files to quality WMV or AVI, is it even possible ?

Today most flv digital file container format files contain video streams encoded MPEG-4 AVC (aka MPEG-4 Part 10 or h.264), which is a rather efficient codec.

Remark: It is quick to check which streams are contained in a media file using the free "MediaInfo" utility.

In that case, best would be a stream copy into another digital file container format, e.g. mp4 or mkv. This is lossless (to the source fvl), because it doesn't require the lossy decoding and re-encoding steps and in addition much faster.

Both erightsoft "Super" and the free "AVI Demux" allow stream copies. My preference would be to use AVI Demux, though.

    • RE: When are lines drawn?

I wonder if this should not be better placed in the "Discussions" section to have a more prominent place.

GayTorrent.ru tries to regulate that with the banned content list:

"… The following TYPES OF PORN are not allowed, if real or claimed/appears to be real:

      Child Exploitation or Underage Porn
         Shota (aka: shouta, shotacon, shotakon)
         Rape
         Snuff (Murder)
         Necrophilia (Sex with dead people)
         Cannibalism
Bestiality (sex with or using animals)
         Mutilation & Blood Consumption
         Non-Sexual Bondage & Torture

If you find material that seems to cross the line of basic common decency, please contact a moderator so it can be evaluated. Also, if you are unsure about material you want to upload, ask the Helpdesk. …"

      and the following Uploading Rules:

      "…
      6. All non-porn material must have LGBTQ THEMED CONTENT (Plot / Characters) or involve VOYEURISM of the ADULT MALE PHYSIQUE.
      …"

It is to noted that in view of teenage boy physiques movies reported recently, the rules has been amended to precise "ADULT". Of course that doesn't prohibit LGBTQ Themed Movies with teenage models, e.g. coming out or coming of age movies.

If the download was with a torrent from here and after all those trials, you should consider to report that torrent (and look if others were making comments about playback issues).

You've uploaded the small .torrent files but are not seeding the movie files.

Are the two torrents listed in your µTorrent?

      a) If yes, can you start them (you might need to use the "Force start" option).

      b) If not, can you go to the descriptions and download the small .torrent files, add them to µTorrent and while adding direct the download to the folder which conatains the movie files?

    • RE: Hardcoded, hard-coded or what?

The information needs to be provided by the uploader or if missing a member having downloaded the torrent's file(s). This includes to mention that a movie is English language, which seems for some uploaders that obvious that nothing is said, leaving a doubt. Of course if that format is respected, it will save staff some time and is appreciated.

It will as well be useful to provide optional English subtitles for an English language movie. These can be the base of translation into other languages or help to better catch the dialogues (especially for not natively English speakers).

Actually I try to give some seed bonus points on Themed Movies following this scheme:

100 points as basic, + 25 points if optional subtitles, - 25 points if hardcoded subtitles on a movie with a sound track I understand (English, German or French).

    • Hardcoded, hard-coded or what?

Lovers of Gay Themed movies may have noticed that we try to provide some information in a standardised way.

      Title in format:
      <original_title>| <dubbed subbed_title="">| <english_title>(<year>)

Dubbed/subbed-title if dubbed or hard subbed in with another language than the original
English title if different from original title or dubbed/subbed title

      Description first line:
      <native_language_name>(<english_language_name>), … | subs: <native_language-name>(<english_language_name>), … <option>| <format>| <review_link>|

_option = indication if subtitles are optional or not
format = digital file container format like avi, mp4, mkv, mpg, DVD5 for the movie file
review_link = to a review on the internet like IMDb, TMDb or wikipedia/i]

As not native English speaker, I've a doubt how to indicate correctly that subtitles are "burned" into the image, i.e. part of the pictures and not optional. Is "hardcoded" or "hard-coded" correct English and is there a shorter / better term?_</review_link></format></option></english_language_name></native_language-name></english_language_name></native_language_name></year></english_title></dubbed></original_title>

GIYF - Google Is Your Friend

Seriously if you google for "Gay torrent" or "Gay torrents", you'll get on the first result page all good English language gay torrents sites:

      • Gay-Torrents.org: Gay anti-leech tracker (0.30), invitation only (atm), about 500 weekly uploads, 39k/56k torrents.

      • Gay-Torrents.net: Ratioless gay torrent tracker, open sign-up, about 200 weekly uploads, 31k/40k torrents. Gay-Lougne.net is the associated forum.

      • OurGTN.org: Gay forum with a ratioless tracker, invitation only, about 80 weekly gay uploads (they allow straight), 7k/12k torrents.

      • GayTorrent.ru: Gay anti-leech tracker (0.25 to 0.80), open sign-up, about 1000 weekly (gay) uploads, 66k/82k* torrents.

        • = excluding straight

There is as well Pornolab.net, a Russian general porn tracker with a well furnished gay section. Strict ratio requirement of 0.75. Torrent lists are bilingual Russian/English for the rest a translation tool or Russian reading is required.

If someone knows a good Spanish, Portuguese or Russian gay tracker, please let me know. Sofar nothing found good (e.g. gaytorrent.so)

      Unfortunately, yes.

I keep myself a small text file with the links to my few pictures.

If you remember the file name, you can "re-construct" the links, or if you made form posts or torrent comments you can use your browser functions to retrieve the links.

    • RE: Redirecting traffic

As already said, off-site live links are allowed by the rules. Technically that link is OK.

Remains the question of good manners / bad taste to put a concurrent off site download / torrent link in a torrent's comment for GayTorrent.ru's community.

The commenter certainly thinks it is a good service he is providing, allowing members to get the movie ratio free and requiring less storage space.

However, it risks to piss off the uploader here, seeing the result of this efforts reduced and starting to wonder why he shall continue to upload torrents to GayTorrent.ru only to see concurrent links as soon done … and less uploads are not in the interest of GayTorrent.ru's community.

Duplicate torrents are removed from the public list first, but still tracked. They are removed when no downloading peer is seen (or the uploader stopped seeding and isn't restarting it, despite being asked).

    • RE: No Seeders or Peers for Torrents. Site shows plenty of seeders though ??

DHT, Local Peer Discovery and Peer Exchange not being allowed is normal. This is a private tracker which is for peers from the tracker only.

The "updating" to continue isn't normal, though. That can have multiple reasons. First thing to try is to stop the torrent, wait a minute and then restart it in your µTorrent.

It might as well help, if you upgrade or downgrade your µTorrent in case you use the version 3.3.20 or 3.4.1 to other builds of 3.4.1 or to 3.3.10. These two versions show random issues with a few torrents. Or if you use an early version of µTorrent 3.x series, upgrade at least to 3.3.10 .

If that doesn't help, contact the Helpdesk indicating the link to the torrent's page on GayTorrent.ru .

When you are longer member and got higher download and a good share ratio (means high upload) the daily number of .torrent file will increase quite fast.

    • RE: Comments Removed

That was not at all what has been meant. Reports are OK. Please report it, if you think a torrent isn't gay themed (enough).
The treating moderator may decide to keep a torrent, in many cases I guess not being certain. You now well that often it isn't easy to come up with a clear cut "not LGBTQ themed" or "LGBTQ themed", especially if not having seen the movie.

What I wanted to say, is please don't engage in the torrent comments in an intensive exchange if a torrent is gay themed. Express your opinion in one comment. That should be enough
