    • RE: How to copy from a dvd files

Assuming the DVD got no copy protection, you can simply copy the "VIDEO_TS" folder into another folder named by the movie on your computer. Already you can share that DVD by creating a torrent from the folder named by the folder.

If you really want to create an AVI, you could use DVDfab in its free version or AVIdemux. Better would be today to create a mp4 or mkv. A good programme for that is Handbrake.

    • RE: Lack of HD torrents.

I think GayTorrent.ru has less uploads of HD content sharing torrents compared to the other English language gay torrent sites.

Certainly there are more uploads of older content sharing torrents, which often isn't available in HD, simply because it was produced in SD.

What GayTorrent.ru is missing is a simple way for uploaders to mark a torrent being LD (Low Definition), SD (Standard Definition), HD (High Definition) and UHD (Ultra High definition) and a well visible indication of that in the listings and on the presentation pages. There are many HD content sharing torrents on GayTorrent.ru were it isn't indicated at all in the title or description. Indicating the definition is done better on Gay-Torrents.org …

    • RE: Bonus points exchange

      @bonusone:

      thx for the reply
now I have a ratio of 0,400 but it's still not enough - don't really understand this ratio /points system  :afr:

When the minimum ratio is reached, the download rights will be restored by the system at it next cycle. Cycle time for this is 15 minutes.

While the display on site shows rounded upload, download and ratio values, the system calculates ratio based on exact to the byte values. That can lead to the minimum ratio been displayed as reached, but the real ratio being still slightly lower. Seeding a little bit more will do it then.

    • RE: Seeding problem

That typically means the tracker has an issue and you can't do anything about it. It will be resolved sooner or later.

If you use a VPN / Proxy service, it could be an issue with it, too.

There was indeed an issue with GayTorrent.ru's mail server. This is fixed now and most mails should have been sent in the mean time.

In case not, please contact the Helpdesk with details.

Now that you use again a fixed port, can you make sure there is an exception in all the firewalls you use for that port and incoming connections TCP and UDP protocols?

I say all firewalls, because you might have multiple in use, the Windows built-in (to which UPnP should have created an exception for µTorrent), your internet security suite (aka anti virus) a stand alone software firewall and finally the firewall in your modem/router (which should let them pass because of UPnP, but you might have manually chosen safer settings prohibiting such exception creation through UPnP).

    • RE: Is it possible to promote the following 2 torrents?

Sorry to correct here, but the reseed request works a little different. It sends a system message to the up-to last 120 members having completed the download and not to the original uploader.

Of course it is the right action on dead torrents one want to download. After sending a reseed request it is better to hang downloading on a torrent, because if potential reseeder don't see a downloading peer, they might decide not to reseed.

If a reseed request doesn't help within a week to get a seeding peer, write the Helpdesk explaining the situation, but don't ask for promotion. Torrent staff is able to contact the original uploader if still member and visiting the site.

I'm not sure if not to send the reseed request to the original uploader is done by purpose. It was like that since I'm member and my suggestions to send it to the original uploader back years remained without echo.

    • RE: How often does Gaytorrent.ru update for new uploads?

What I've described is the update mechanism between the site and the tracker, when a new torrent had been added, so the tracker starts tracking it: each 30 seconds

The update of new announcements received by the tracker from the torrent clients to the site is as well each 30 seconds (uploaded, downloaded, seeding, stopped, started).

However, the cycle time for an individual torrent in an individual torrent client is set to 30 minutes (that is the next update time you see counting down in a torrent client's torrent details view). This counter runs for each torrent & client on an individual schedule.

30 minutes announce interval is a quite standard time for trackers. Most I know use that interval, some longer (45 minutes or 60 minutes), even fewer shorter (15 minutes). It is a balance between server load&bandwidth and having up-to-date statistics on a site/tracker. Stopping a torrent leads to an immediate update of the tracker as does starting a torrent (and the 30 minutes interval countdown for the next update in the client).

    • RE: How often does Gaytorrent.ru update for new uploads?

The site updates the tracker with newly uploaded torrents each 30 seconds.

Usually the re-download of the .torrent file, adding it to the torrent client  (your µTorrent) and recheck of the found data files to match takes longer. If you were faster, at the next announcement to the tracker (you see the count down in the details) it should go away.

Please check the tracker announce URL in the line with the "unregistered torrent" not to say perhaps "unregistered torrent pass" (you might need to expand the column width to see the full message).

If it says "unregistered torrent pass", you will have loaded most likely the original uploaded .torrent file and not the re-downloaded .torrent file into your torrent client. Only the re-downloaded .torrent file has your personal secrete passkey included in the tracker announce URL, format:

      http://tracker.gaytorrent.tw:2710/your_passkey/annnounce

where "your_passkey" is a long series of numbers and letters, you find that announce URL in your Profile.

Aside that, I can't see any today by you uploaded torrent …

    • RE: Seeding with very low kb/s

Assign a fixed port number in µTorrent's connection settings (in the 30 000 area) and repeat the steps b) then c) in that order. It seems your µTorrent uses random ports.

Are you using a VPN, if yes, which provider?

    • RE: Seeding with very low kb/s

Your µTorrents is reported as not connectible and the low upload rates with downloading peers is typical symptom.

The downloading peer's torrent client will download from other seeder's torrent clients to which they can connect and request what they need to get.

Steps to try to get your torrent client connectble:
      a) activate UPnP port-forwarding in the client (µTorrent)
      b) restart your modem/router (the box from the ISP)
      c) restart your computer
(above assumes the modem/router has UPnP activated, which should be it's default)

      µTorrent got a built-in test:
Options > Setup Guide > select the Network test and run it. If it returns a green check symbol, it is connectible, if it is yellow/orange it is not connectible. If not connectible, please visit the µTorrent help pages and forum and portforwarding.com (with details how to manually configure a port-forwarding for many router/modems).

LOL, no actually I just save the "Account Related Settings" of the forum profile of that member without any changes and by magic the member level is updated to what it should be.

Fixed. When you get over 100 and aren't promoted, please contact the Helpdesk, I'd like to understand if only the first promotion is blocked or further, too.

Some time ago I had understood that it is random glitch of the forum, but seen the number of members on which I stumble when reading the forums, it seems to be a general issue, at least for a first promotion.

    • RE: List of problem distributors?

Sorry, LGBTQ theme is not the only criteria to respect. I'd like to recall parts of the Rules page Term of Service concerning uploads:

"…  Users may not use this site to distribute any material when they do not have the legal right to do so. It is the responsibility of each user to adhere to these terms.  ..."

      and

"...  We have a policy of terminating, without notice and without recourse, accounts of users who are repeat infringers of site policies, based on our sole judgment of suspicion or notification we may receive. ..."

    • RE: When downloading only a selection of files from a torrent.

Another side effect is that such a torrent occupies one of the limited concurrent downloading slots allowed by the downloading rules and controlled by the tracker. If you've many of them, it might block you from real downloads.

In that case you could temporary stop them.

To be clear:all the amount of data you upload on such "downloading" torrents will be announced by your torrent client to the tracker as upload and counted positive to your upload and ratio.

    • RE: About to have took down the torrent alleging copyright infringement

Trying to obfuscate the title or studio is a very bad idea for multiple reasons:

      • as long as humans can identify what it is, the copyright owner or his agents can, too. So it won't avoid a take down
      • it will defeat the search and because of the many daily upload almost nobody will see and find it already after a day (being many pages back in the listing). That makes the torrent more or less useless then. Members who have downloaded it will have increased difficulties to share back, because f missing new downloading peers.

The rules are rather clear, members shall upload only torrents for content they have the legal right to share. So if you know not to have the right, don't upload a torrent.

    • RE: New Uploads Not Connecting

I've removed your personal secrete passkey from the URL. If you see parasite leeching on your account, reset your passkey and reload the torrents (to have the new passkey generated and used by them).

Your question is difficult t answer from distance, because what you describe sounds correct.

A possible issue could be that your µTorrent didn't locate the file and tries to download it. In that case you should see "looking for peers" and a downloading arrow.

Else, look in the lower µTorrent window part, torrent details for the status message in the line with the tracker URL and report what it says there. That usually gives a hint about the possible issue.
