I'll go first, It all started out around 3 months ago - we got hooked on "Stranger Things", and wound up binge watching the entire series the following weekend. This was followed by "13 Reasons Why" - Both of which I highly recommend. We just started "Atypical", my knee jerk response was not to watch it as I have an autistic Nephew and five minutes in I wanted to cry. (I am not going to be okay when he starts dating.) I am still not 100% only because it just feels too close to home. Still the story line seems like it is going to be great!

Do YOU Netflix?
So my baby and I have a Sunday ritual, we make up a tray of assorted appetizers, break open a nice bottle of wine, and scrunch up on the couch watching Netflix. I'm not ashamed to say it has become something I look forward to all week, and we have seen some really great original programming.. it doesn't hurt we almost always wind up fucking lol.
So how bout you - Do you Netflix? If so what are you watching?

RE: Anal too tight
I have only over the past year began bottoming, if he tries some kind of "quicky" it is always painful. It might not hurt if he worked on his foreplay as well, I have found that times when my man spends a little more time getting me horned up, eats my ass and fingers me while blowing me - things go FAR more smoothly. Aside from that, it is like any other muscle, if you don't use it often it will make it difficult.

RE: The "War on Drugs"
I had an older sibling who was by all definitions a hot mess. He died at 26 of a heroin over dose, after multiple trips to rehab. He was able to come off of heroin and alcohol several times over, and was never able to quit smoking. So for anyone to claim it is not addictive is utter rubbish. It is the idea that here is a substance that has not only been proven to cause cancer and death, but has proven to be a huge drain on the economy and yet they STILL enjoy a protected status as the first legal serial killer in history. I don't care how many coats of lipstick they put on that pig - it is still a pig.
Anyone with half a brain in a "blind test" of common sense, presented with the description of the known long term effects of smoking, and those of weed would hands down switch smoking to a criminal offense and weed to the "controlled" designation. Yet the world continues to turn it's head to the obvious. To be honest, it is stupid on that level that makes me fear for the human race. I suppose on some level it is death by "natural selection", but it does not say much for human kind.
As for the "war on drugs", I'd have to say in it's current state it is a complete and utter failure of the worst kind. The longer you look at it the more obvious it becomes it is more a license to steel for the government than it is an attempt to keep the public safe. Worse still the magnitude of the flow is a strong indication at some level there is government sponsorship involved. NOBODY with the resources available to the DEA could POSSIBLY suck that badly at getting a situation under control. If a private sector company was operating so dismally, they would have been out of business long ago.

RE: Canadian study - only 12% of people willing to date trans
I can't imagine eating pussy.. but I love going down on a nice tidy butt! TBH I hadn't really thought about the "vag" factor, it would ultimately be a deal killer I am sure. Which is why I said "date", as opposed to an LTR. But I find it even more unique that some of these guys are actually gay guys, trapped in women's bodies. It kind of makes their position an even sadder story. Because the one thing they need to complete their transition if done would also make it impossible to ever enjoy sex at all in most cases.
I can't imagine what that would be like. At the same time it further bolsters the position that all of these things are determined in conception. I hope for their sake's that medical science catches up to a point they can complete the transformation and be complete without mutilating their ability to ever enjoy sex.

RE: The "War on Drugs"
I think it is absurd that anyone does things they know for a fact could/will kill them, tobacco got a free ride simply because it was such an enormous segment of the population at the time that was addicted and the magnitude of the economy that was driven by it. Greed and a careful hat dance with lawmakers along with a lot of dirty backroom deals kept the truth from the public for quite a long time. Then when the truth finally fought it's way to the surface, they STILL managed to cut a deal that not only absolved them from prosecution, but continue to murder at will so long as they kept their dirty work off of television.
The "deal" they made was even more unscrupulous in that it handed the crux of the price tag for future destruction back to the public by way of "tobacco tax", the proceeds of which was supposed to be spent pro-actively to "wind down" it's use, but are being used for everything but. I would love to know who really got rich on that little deal.
The big argument against weed has been and remains that there is "insufficient data" as to it's long term effects, which IMO is utter non-sense. It has been more than 50 years since it's use became pretty common here in the US, they have yet to produce any legitimate "dire consequence" for certain non as dire as alcohol or cigarettes. It's application in the medical world has already been noted, I don't understand the hold up other than good old school cronyism and lack of an established "order of business" to make it lucrative to the political machine.
The lack of movement suggests they have already done the math and are making far more money in the legal system from this than they can possibly make decriminalizing it. I can't think of a better explanation, why else would you continue to choke your legal system with such frivolous nonsense.
I'm a hell of a lot more concerned about the uptick in the use of Heroin, and the apparent total inability to stem the flow of it. At a time in our history when they can pretty much monitor what is going on in any given persons rectum, I am more than a little suspicious at the lack of progress, and it beginning to look to me like our own government is at some level holding the door opened through some "back channel" deal. I don't see another explanation.

RE: The "War on Drugs"
I will agree HP is probably not the sentient of journalistic accuracy. The subject actually came up and dinner with my mate and some of his old friends from law school. One of them is a public defender, who was venting in general about an endless labyrinth of reasons he needed to get out and go back to the private sector. Poor dude sounded a bit overwhelmed, and more than a little burned out. According to him, the peripheral legal machine (lower courts, probation, parole) is more choked than the prison system.
As the discussion went on, as it always does - poverty is absolutely a factor and in many cases the cause of a "snow-ball" effect. This is to say quite often it happens that "simple" cases get complicated when that person fails to appear for probation, often because they can't afford it. That leads to additional court time, additional fines, a circus of escalation. He said right around the fourth time violating probation, the judge is tired of excuses and more often than not jail time will be the next step. These people are not exactly rocket scientists, this has become the norm for even the silliest of infractions.
I can think of better ways for my tax dollars to be spent.
I agree with you, decriminalizing and regulation. I also think there needs to be a complete overhaul to the legal system. We need to do a better job of choosing our battles.

RE: Excessive Posting
I almost accidentally did that once, I hadn't even noticed the date - but a big red warning came up. So this would mean whoever is doing this knows full well that thread is way old. I can see how that would tick you off. I noticed it the other day - I think someone had been posting on old picture threads. They need to do the math, lol forum points will be a SLOW crawl if that is their goal.

RE: The state of gay porn nowadays.
Is gay porn really that terrible these days?
Yes. Look at virtually any site, then scroll back 2 years and tell me what jumps out at you. Granted some sites are more drastic than others, mainly because sites like "Men" have pretty much held onto all the same talent. Christ you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a scene Diego Sans is in, same goes for Will Braun (who I still love), but there are some tragic changes in sites like BSB, CF and SC. Active Duty is hangin on by Quentin Gainz last pubic hair, and the list goes on.
In the effort to try and create some "burn fade", they have tried every trick in the book. CF took to re-posting old scenes on the regular, as if porn needed "throw back Thursdays", but what they are really aiming at is off shore business that may not be as well studied an the site's history. Sean Cody has taken to "gasp" using actual gay men. The horror. That of course would be a non issue if they didn't look like they got snatched off the floor of Walmart.
Then you have sites like Lucas, who has also managed to hold tight on his talent, but really guys - how many times can you watch the same group of guys fucking in rotation? The most creative site in gay porn right now is Guys in Sweatpants, Austin, being the insanely horned up creature that he is, still has his hand on the pulse of what's hot. He does not turn out multiple updates a week, but what he does turn out is quality.
So there you have it. I am sure there are "dissenting" opinions, everyone has a different "id" but if you do what I said I am sure you will see what I mean. At BSB, I had to go back 25 pages to find anything that looked hot. That put me right around 2016, late 2015. To be honest even those scenes were weak and inconsistent, but that was the first "sight" of something that looked like porn I might have paid for.
While you are looking, dig up "Connor nails Ethan" originally ran in 2010, re-released 2015, for obvious reasons. They haven't had a scene that hot in 4 years. Now it is common knowledge that Connor married shortly before he "retired", but trust, watch that scene, at THAT moment in time, there was not a "straight" molecule in his body. You can feel his lust coming through the screen.
He was so fucking turned on by all the noise coming out of Ethan, and the sight of his dick slamming in and out of him! None of this looking at the walls, looking at the ceiling crap. It was like the more Ethan moaned (and that shit was for real, poor dude was getting SLAYED) the more turned on Conner got. Ethan got TURNT OUT. There was a point while Connor was rapid fucking him from behind I bet he literally forgot his damn name. Hot fucking all the way through, and at the end, Connor couldn't stop putting his dick in Ethans butt. Dude would have gone all damn night.
THAT is gay porn, THAT is chemistry coupled with two hot guys. I'd sooner watch those two fuck ten times than watch 50 couples with none of that quality fuck once. I haven't seen a scene like that since Brysen fucked Nixon at SC, and frankly even that didn't have THAT level of heat. I'm afraid all the REAL talent retired, these basic bitches they got now don't know how to fuck.

RE: Having kids
Having kids is an enormous responsibility, (if you are doing it right) you are looking at a total lifestyle change. If you are really serious about it you need to be honest with him regarding your feelings. It sounds to me as if that conversation has already happened and you want to convince him he should re-think his position. Be prepared for answers you aren't happy with, and potentially having to find a new partner. Parenthood is not for everyone. Kids are not like a puppy that you can palm off on Craigslist when it's not little and cute anymore, and it keeps pissing all over the house.

RE: My dad never hugged me untill i was 20
My personal experience says no. I was smitten with boys in kindergarten, and my dad got zero involvement in that. I find the whole "incest" line some porn sites have been pumping out really disturbing, and a total boner killer. For decades gay men have fought to fend off the "sexual deviate" thing, these sites set the cause back to the stone age with crap like that. Gross.

RE: How to date a gay person from another country
Assuming you are "of age", I would try and get a job as an attendant with an airline, or as a steward on a cruise ship. Such positions would allow you a safe way to meet people and see what other countries have to offer. Trying to foster a love connection online is not unheard of, but it carries risks all it's own. You have no way of knowing what a persons true intentions are, and could be placing yourself in danger. Be careful.

RE: The state of gay porn nowadays.
I think most of gay porn has become just a series of cookie cutter scenes, it is a direct result of the very thing that once made them a huge success coming back to bite them in the ass. All of these companies flooded the tube sites to grab those add dollars, in so doing they created a situation that made in nearly impossible to control their own losses. Another thing that has taken a bite out of their business, cam sites. Given the drop in compensation a lot of these models can make just as much sitting at home on their computers. So, like anything else when the money falls, so does the quality.
It has also caused a SHARP decline in the level of "talent". At the top of it's curve, hot models were raining from the sky, waiting in que to go ass up for that paycheck. That money isn't there any more and neither are the models. Yet studios are scrambling to turn out double the scenes by creating "spin off" sites, where all the same models do all the same mattress maneuvers on a different set. Like any other industry in history, eventually the weak will either sell out to companies like Mind Geek, or just fold.
I don't see porn going away, but if they don't find a way to make it lucrative again you are going to continue to see the quality fall. Personally I would sooner see fewer updates with hotter models. As you pointed out it is supposed to represent fantasy, my fantasy doesn't include guys I wouldn't hit the brakes for in a club.
Broke Straight Boys is a prime example of a site that has just lost any semblance of it's once great self. The guys they have had on it for the past year are just getting less and less appealing, compared to it's zenith, the "Johnny Forza, Adam Baer, Vadim Black" days, it is almost unrecognizable, and the term "Straight Boys" is laughable.
I don't know what the next great wave will be in adult entertainment, but the current state is pretty bleak. I have taken to watching mostly older scenes from when they guys were still gorgeous.

The "War on Drugs"
Another post here raised issues of ethnic disparity in our nations prison system. Much of this can be directly traced to the "War on Drugs", which accounts for over 50% of the people currently incarcerated. Of that population, 27% are marijuana related crimes. Clearly it is well past time these laws were reviewed, and marijuana was decriminalized at the federal level. I personally don't smoke weed, it makes me paranoid and I want to eat everything that isn't nailed down. I know a fair number of people who do, they are all productive members of society and use it responsibly IE they don't drive while high.
This is an older piece, but still very much representative of how it looks. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/10/war-on-drugs-prisons-infographic_n_4914884.html
What are your opinions on this?

RE: Canadian study - only 12% of people willing to date trans
I guess that makes me an odd duck as a gay man, and I do love dick. I don't think I would necessarily consider an "LTR", but if a guy rolls up on me in the club looking like these guys, he will have my undivided attention lol!

RE: Nike and stupidity of the left
Black victims of racial profiling and police brutality are in no way responsible for working conditions in sweatshops.
Stop asking people to ignore racial profiling and police brutality in America.
Also, these pathetic protesters burning Nike merchandise? Tell me where the hell they were when the children were working in the sweatshops and black Americans were being tormented by the thug bully police department for just having black skin? You only speak up now. Now that Nike is giving a bigger platform to raise awareness of this problem do you speak out…
Big shocker. Black power is offensive? Don't pretend we don't see right through you.
Lord. Racial profiling. Instead of parroting what the media feeds you, take your happy ass to any court in the land and see for yourself what is going on. Most of the "over represented" are there for black on black crimes. Most traffic stops for stupid infractions result in revealing said driver has repeatedly been pulled over and ticketed for a multitude of stupid moves and has paid non of his fines or tickets. They aren't picking on you cause your black, they are guarding the rest of mankind from you because you are stupid.
Nike - Zero fucks given, I haven't purchased jack shit from them and won't.
Colin, also Zero fucks given. Want to aid a cause, write a check, otherwise get your lazy ass up when the National Anthem is played, do not disrespect a country and those who serve it. Looser.
I'd like to know exactly what it is going to take for people to stop throwing the race card and own their bad life choices. WHAT. National butt fuck the white man day? WHAT. Your professional victim status is just beyond tiresome. 50 years of preferential treatment brought you zip. Time to shut the fuck up and move on already.
Black lives do matter, but where is all your fury when the black gangsta rolls up and guns down 3 innocent kids over street cred? When you start taking THAT shit seriously I will at least respect your message. SMH
Stop disrespecting everyone in your path and ignoring laws that everyone else has no trouble living with, quit laying out with a different man every night of the week and stay home and raise your kids right. 4 different kids with 4 different baby daddies, bitch you should be in jail for mis-managing your vagina. You know who you are, you are the reason Maury has a job.
I'm not racist, just worn out with your excuses. White people were slaves too in the days of the Pharaohs. We didn't turn it into a way of life.
We see you too.

RE: Is being a gay person really special? I don’t think so.
Will never experience the freedom to marry who you choose and live the way you want.
no, I think I own the life I wanted. Just like my brother said it’s meaningless for us living together or having sex, we have done it for our curiosity, that’s enough. There are more things in the future waiting for us, let’s keep together as brothers. Even if he can have baby for me, I won’t marry him, We are crossness, we will quarrel in a week and scuffle in a month. We are males. I need a gentle woman to care my silly daily life. I think I’m the most common gay person who lives in the world with large populations. I mean like most of the straight people, gay is just small difference in sexual hobby. so no more special. there are male and female slut in our world, they will get their ‘prize’.
Still can’t understand why open relationship is still popular in gay couples
I think some of the confusion could be dialect, I am not sure where the OP is from, but broken language and word choice infers english is not your first language. To say that being gay does not require special treatment, you ignore both history and current affairs. Perhaps things are quite different where you are from.
Being gay in an ideal world would not require us to have a "special" designation. We are special because for a very long time, thousands of years in fact - the rest of the world felt we needed a "special" designation. They called us Fag, Freak, Sicko, abominations of nature. We did not choose to be singled out, the "normal" people singled us out. They did this in rituals that "normal people" accepted as righteous, hazings and beatings, murders.. brutal? YES. But the general consensus was we brought that on ourselves for partaking in such lewd and unnatural behaviors. The world did not view us as "normal", that is what made gay special.
Gay people did not separate themselves from society, rather we "came together". This my friend, because there is strength and safety in numbers. The rest of mankind made us special by attempting to beat, harass and bully us out of existence. The right to move through day to day life without fear that who we love could get us beaten to death or killed was hard fought, no "normal" human had to FIGHT for that right, just as no normal person has to fight for the right to marry whom they choose. So before you say that being gay is not special, try and remember who singled us out as special, and how that happened.
We are still fighting social stigma, in some ways even more now. The very term GAY makes even gay men uncomfortable these days - and the term "gender fluid" is the punch phrase of the new millennium. Years of gay men being stereotyped and openly mocked in popular mediums has driven a "shame" into the word gay that can't be processed out. The "new age" gay men feel they are too "manly" to wear that moniker, because it evokes images of "flaming queens" and "swishy" effeminate, lisping, limp wristed girly men. They want desperately to move through their lives without "labels", because such imagery makes them uncomfortable, they are not "that" way and don't want to be viewed "that" way.
What is perhaps even more surprising, is the growth of an even larger "subgroup" of men so traumatized by the perceived stigma and sacrifices that being labeled "gay" implies, they are choosing to do exactly what you suggest in your first post. For all intents and purposes, rather than face the world as a gay man, they are moving forward in "straight" relationships, and hooking up with men on the side. In effect moving back into the closet. They will tell you they are not gay, (See, I have my woman, token proof I am "normal".) they just have sex with men, and describe it as if they are going off to play cards with the boys. Think that is exaggerated? LMAO! More than half of gay porn is filled with these men right now. Self hating to the point they would sooner live a lie than be "labeled", besides, then they get to have their cake and eat it too. For this segment, I have to wonder what the future will bring. Ha, pretty much what you described as the "conclusion" you and your brother came to huh. Sadly for that segment of the gay population (yourself included should you decide to go with your brother's plan) it never really works out. Doubt me? Find Curtis from Sean Cody and ask him.
Well happily not everyone is content living a half life, and despite what made us special to begin with, we are now special because we choose to be. What those boys don't see is that gay men represent some of the highest aspirations of mankind. We are a highly educated segment, largely successful, and we bring a sense of community and self improvement wherever we go. That's right, I will say it - you will NEVER see a gay ghetto. We have fought in wars along side our brothers, as a segment of the population our philanthropic work is everywhere, so many things that gay men are that people never discuss mainly because we have never asked for "special" recognition for any of it. It is who we are.
You brought your honest thoughts here, I can respect that - trust me when I tell you gay men have tried to live as you described since the beginning of time. I am more concerned for the woman you are going to try and fool, and how she is going to feel 5 or 10 years down the road when you realize you can't live that charade any more. This is someone's LIFE you are messing with here, I hope you are at least man enough to be open about the fact you sleep with men, at least then she can make an informed decision. It all sounds pretty easy in theory, I think you are going to find in practice, not so much. But hey, good luck with that.
Did I just read that right, are you fucking your bother?

RE: Theist vs Atheism
SO INTERESTING. After seeing the other post regarding "religious freedom to discriminate", I was thinking of starting a similar thread! Strap in, this will be long and meandering.
You will all remain seated while my Rice Crispies speak.
I was raised in a very religious household, "Wisconsin Synod Lutherans" are even more narrow minded and elitist than Catholics if you can picture that. I got put through what I consider to be "full religious hazing" (Private Lutheran Parochial school), and at 4 1/2 I was exposed to "The good book" which really makes anything Steven King wrote seem trite. I was THOROUGHLY traumatized right from the rip. Nightmares that "God" would look into my heart and find a spec of dust and send me to Hell - the whole nine.
Imagine realizing at about the SAME time, I was really attracted to boys. That is to say before I even knew what sex was, ever heard the word "gay" in any other context but "happy" I liked boys. Now hard as it may be to wrap your head around, in KINDERGARTEN - they cover all the big sins. But I was more worried God would strike me dead for hating the scary creepy old Pastor who came to our class room every Friday to sprinkle fire and brimstone.
Back then - it never occurred to me that boys could be with boys. So I desperately wished I was a girl. No really, I used to flounce around the house with a t-shirt on my head (It was my luxurious blonde hair), and my Mom's stiletto heals. It used to FREAK my Father out. This - because only girls could be with boys, and kiss them. To say my childhood was complicated would put it mildly. Imagine my excitement when I learned that I didn't have to loose my dick to kiss a boy. But for the longest I still had the pesky HELL thing to deal with.
Fast forward 20 years, and a lot of life experience - add a highly developed bullshit sensor, and BAM! I am an atheist. This is to say I do not believe in "God" as depicted in the "Fairy Tails of the Good Book". I think organized religion of every denomination is the biggest lie ever perpetrated on mankind. I think it had it's purpose, it was pretty "dog eat dog" when it's illustrious bullshit creation was made necessary. Imagine a world with no rules! It musta been one hot fucking mess.
I think as time went on, the fables grew - like any story ever made it from one side of the room to the other intact. As new "challenges" grew, a new "prophet" would spring up with a brand spanking new message from GOD! How wonderful. Trust me there must have been a ton of men fucking men back then, obviously the "elders" had fears nobody would be left to propagate the human race! Hence the addition to the "Commandments" along with a lot of clean outlines for righteous living came "Thou shalt not sleep with thy man servant."
I am guessing at the time there must have been a ton of "wife pilfering" going on as well - hence "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife." and the poor bastards couldn't hang onto the good silver to save their souls, - YEP you got it, "Thou shalt not steal." Blah Blah Blah thing n a thing. There you have it boys, the "Bible", it began as a form of early law, and to add street cred, they got a little carried away with the fairy tales needed to keep people living in fear. I remember being DISTINCTLY and profoundly upset with the story of "Absolem" - the gorgeous dude with the long flowing hair.. I wanted long flowing hair, did that mean I was going to get killed by God? Seriously.. the mind of a child. LOL!
I have formed an opinion about what really got us here. It is my theory, that this planet was "cleansed" of everything (IE Dinosaurs, big scary monsters that would have threatened our existence to INCLUDE early man.) Once the dust had cleared, and the vegetation began to return - the Earth was colonized by our "counterparts", in all likelihood from another universe. It was decided that this colony would be void of all technology, to "begin again". I suspect that said race had already far exceeded both our technology, and our propensity to devour everything in our path. I believe we were an experiment of sorts, and at the same time perhaps held the only hope of continuing our kind, all our "Nationalities" preserved exactly as they intended - a sort of mirror image of what could have been an early iteration of them. Scattered to the "four corners", each to their own.
I also believe the animals plants and vegetation of some sorts were also brought, to ensure our survival as well as theirs. I think along the way, much as we have seen some species morph and evolve, some things happened by natural selection. IE the weird little blinding parasite, and a host of other perilous remnants of the "Ice Age" or planet rebuild. I believe we have been visited often, I have often mused we are like a sort of large scale petri dish.
I have also mused these visitations have been disclosed at the highest levels of secrecy, and that much of our so called "miraculous" technology was a result of those highly clandestine visits. I mean think about it, up till the late 1800's we were still pretty much a "stick and a rock" civilization. Hundreds of years yielded little more than the ability to read and write! I find it more than a little suspect the only brilliant people showed up in the last 150 years. Just sayin. I'm not going into a big kerfuffle about UFO sightings, frankly I think it was all a lot more "Highbrow-ed" than that. I doubt our predecessors were little green men.
Think about it, up until just before the turn of the century we were still mostly hacking each other up in hand to hand combat, and watching Grandma wrinkle by candlelight was about as amusing as it got. Okay, maybe not quite THAT medieval, but not far from it. Fast forward to 2018 and more than any average man's "lifetime" worth of knowledge fits on a tiny chip half the size of your pinky nail.. You don't find that more than a little suspect? LOL
I do believe that what we refer to as our "souls", our "being" does go on - that there is another level of being after these "mortal coils" expire. I also believe that for what ever reason, we are "recycled" and returned here. Call it "reincarnation" or what you will, but I believe we come back. Like these bodies were designed to "house" us for what purpose I can't grasp, perhaps a living time capsule? Maybe an experiment to see if we by nature wind up self destructing as perhaps we had elsewhere? It has often been said life imitates art. Well there is certainly no shortage of sci fi covering visitors from other places.
I have also imagined that we come from a place we can't even conceive, evolved to the extent that everything about what makes life special and makes a human's heart soar was homogenized right out of existence. We created a world where sustenance and shelter were no longer a concern, all needs were cared for, all vises were removed by eons of micro control - reproduction and sex eliminated as unnecessary, a civilization of such bland existence that it's people on the whole began to wither, and atrophy. That in an attempt to wake their souls, they extracted our DNA and the DNA of everything around us and re-created their beginning and created man as receptacles they would wear in this new world. But as they "Jack in" through birth, all things they knew were erased, so as not to tarnish the experience. As they die in "Human" form, they return to THAT society reinvented. Spirits rekindled. LOL No I am not on drugs. I just have an active imagination!
OR.
There is a God, and this is HELL, I can't decide which.

RE: Rick Santorum gets angry on CNN about "gay cupcakes"
Santorum is going off over this:https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2018/06/04/supreme-court-rules-against-gay-wedding-exemptions/1052989001/ A ruling which IMO was HEAVILY flawed and contradictory. Religious freedoms are protected in the US, however this was not a church, these people were offering goods and services. They were not specifically designated as a "Religious" bakery, where the casual consumer (gays) might pause before doing business there. "Masterpiece Cake Shop" does not convey any such thing.
BUT even if it did, common sense and fear that your shop might get torched would keep you from putting up a sign that reads "Sorry, but due to our religious beliefs we do not decorate for GAYS." Because of course that would evoke the mental image of the "Whites only" days. As well it should, as it is just as glaring discrimination.
"Kennedy acknowledged that business owners generally cannot deny equal access to goods and services under a neutral public accommodations law. Otherwise, he said, "a long list of persons who provide goods and services for marriages and weddings might refuse to do so for gay persons, thus resulting in a community-wide stigma inconsistent with the history and dynamics of civil rights laws."
Yet the ruling does effectively open the door quite widely for exactly THAT,and IS in effect in total contradiction of that law - which is the point Tubin was making. It was pissing Santorum off. Because discrimination is exactly what got protected in that ruling and Santorum fucking well knew it, and as any other time that religion looks like it is even vaguely under attack, people who USE IT as their almighty sword in DEFENDING acts of discrimination get VERY worked up. It is their last line of THINLY VEILED defense for their "God given" right TO discriminate.
I'm afraid once again this depicts a legal system that is no way in step with our evolution.
Separation of church and state. … Many view separation of church and state as required by the First Amendment (see also First Amendment). The First Amendment not only allows citizens the freedom to practice any religion of their choice, but also prevents the government from officially recognizing or favoring any religion ... UNLESS it involves a cake shop and gay guys.
