    • Get on with it… solution

      Since the election, there has been a non-stop witch hunt seeking anything to attack Trump with - including going after his family members, businesses, etc.  Nothing has come of it, and yet, that doesn't stop people from looking.  It's like gold prospectors on a treasure hunt.

      There is also a pile of scandals involving the Clintons, John Pedosta, Loretta Lynch, Susan Rice, Homo Abedin, James Comey, etc.

      Certainly, all of these issues are fair game during a campaign.  Bringing them up often backfires on the other side when it has the appearance of "over reach".

      However, AFTER the election, all of these issues become irrelevant.

      Trump has so far backed off having Hillary, and the other moonbats investigated - mainly because the crimes they committed are no longer relevant.  But that isn't stopping the moonbats from attacking.

      I don't think Trump should pardon himself - even though he can.. BUT instead he should have a blanket pardon to cover EVERYTHING including the crimes of Hillary which occurred BEFORE the election.
      Imagine if opposing sides in a war were to continue fighting AFTER the war was over!  That would be a DISASTER!  Likewise, continuing to battle after an election is a disaster.  When it's over.. it's OVER.  Get on with it.

      What do you think?  I can't wait to see the stupid responses of the moonbats.

      @aadam101:

      Trump tweeted this today:

      It's very sad that Republicans, even some that were carried over the line on my back, do very little to protect their President.

      Why does Trump need protection?  Didn't he promise us that he was going to fix America all by himself?  Does he have any idea how a Democracy works?  Did he really think he was going to be able to keep this up?

      Mark my words.  The GOP will be leading the impeachment.

      You didn't do a very good job of disguising your total hypocrisy.
      In once sentence you are questioning why Trump needs protection.  In the next you are suggesting he will be impeached.

      Impeached.. for what?

      By the way.. in regards to SNL, other than Alec Baldwin (who is not a cast member of SNL) and the incessant attacks on Trump, nobody talks about SNL at all.  They need to pull the plug on that show.  I think they would get better ratings by broadcasting re-runs of 'The Carol Burnett Show" in that time slot.

      Now, as for SNL, Frederick, this is when you (again) take your opinions – but declare them as facts -- and the exact opposite is true.

      "Why Saturday Night Live’s Ratings This Season Are Unprecedented":
      http://www.vulture.com/2017/05/saturday-night-live-ratings-this-season-are-unprecedented.html

      TV Ratings: 'SNL' Season Ends With 6-Year Finale High":
      http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/tv-ratings-snl-season-ends-6-year-finale-high-1005995

      And as far as SNL and the awards season:

      http://www.goldderby.com/article/2017/sean-spicer-resigns-saturday-night-live-snl-2017-emmys-melissa-mccarthy-alec-baldwin-donald-trump-news/

      "‘Saturday Night Live could win 4 acting Emmys for ‘SNL’ standouts Melissa McCarthy (Sean Spicer), Alec Baldwin (Donald Trump) and …"

      _White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer has just resigned from office, making us wish “Saturday Night Live” aired during the summer months so we could see Melissa McCarthy‘s hilarious take on the situation. McCarthy is just one of the nine “SNL” performers recognized at this year’s Emmys, from the show’s overall total of 22 nominations.

      "The others are recurring player Alec Baldwin for Best Comedy Supporting Actor, regulars Kate McKinnon, Vanessa Bayer and Leslie Jones for Best Comedy Supporting Actress, and hosts Kristen Wiig, Dave Chappelle, Tom Hanks and Lin-Manuel Miranda as Best Comedy Guest performers. Can the show actually do the unthinkable and win four acting Emmys this year?"_
      You could have attacked SNL with your tired old canards re: liberal media (not that we'd care to hear that again).  Instead, you wanted us to believe your alternative facts – which in the end, were not facts at all.

      And as a return to this topic's thread, I can hardly wait to see the inevitable SNL sketch of sketchy Anthony Scaramucci.

      Ratings might be up, but that show seriously sucks.  Alec Baldwin is very talented.. and seems to be on every week, but is not a cast member.  They are in trouble now that they don't have Spicer to attack anymore.  That show has changed from being a comedy show to being an attack upon Trump.

      Republicans seem to believe that you only deserve healthcare if you pass some sot of moral test.  If that were the case our own President wouldn't qualify.  Lucky for him, he has taxpayer funded healthcare and doesn't need to worry about it.

      Do you seriously believe that a multi billionaire goes to mainstream healthcare providers with health insurance?  He has his own personal physicians.  In fact, one reason the Secret Service don't like Trump is that he often uses his own personal security.

      Apparently the democrats don't think that the people covered by Obamacare deserve any insurance, because Obamacare is insolvent - a ticking time bomb that is in an irrecoverable death spiral.

      This ongoing covfefe about healthcare is essentially "cutting off people's noses in spite their face".

      Here is one example of that:
      I lived in New Orleans for a time..  in New Orleans there are a few bars / clubs that have totally nude dancers who are mainly there to pick up tricks, and allow people sitting at the bar to insert their fingers up their assholes.  Most of those guys are straight, and would never be doing that except for the fact that they need to pay their rent or college tuition.  These guys typically have minimum wage jobs, and are full of health and vitality.  Do you think that it is fair to require these guys to pay into a healthcare system that keeps people who are dying alive a few more years?  Why should employers be forced to pay into health care plans for their employees, rather than giving that money to their employees?  In fact, employers now have severely cut back on the number of workers they employ, and the number of hours they work, so they don't get stuck with astronomical health care costs.  Some young person needs a job.. but can only get part time work at minimum wage.. if they are lucky enough to get even that.. and then are required to pay for healthcare on top of that?

      @raphjd:

      Socialized medicine is absolute shit.

      We literally have death panels.    Currently we have doctors and a children's hospital fighting tooth and nail to kill a kid (Charlie Gard) who they admit is not suffering.

      Waiting times, without private health insurance, is beyond disgusting.

      They have extremely rigid protocols that can be deadly if even the tiniest thing doesn't go exactly right.

      I agree.. but there is one scenario in which socialized medicine works.  In a country such as Cuba, which is a dictatorship, the doctors are not free to leave the country to earn big $$$ in some other country.  They must work.. very hard.. and not sit in their office or on the golf course.. and they don't get paid massive salaries.  Also, people can't sue the hospital and / or doctor for $10 million.  People never understand that they can't have it both ways.  Total freedom is anarchy.  If people want freedom, then they must accept competition to regulate things like healthcare.  If they artificially impose mandatory health insurance from people who don't want nor can afford it.. and subsidize that insatiable money pit of healthcare.. then they are just pissing money down the drain.

      If people want to talk about an incompetent president.. you don't need to look any further than Sheik Obama.. who single handedly accumulated more debt than the previous 43 presidents combined.  Bringing it from $10 trillion to $20 trillion.  That includes the debt from the  revolutionary war, the civil war, WW1, WW2, the Korean War, Vietnam, the Cold War, and the Cola War.

      @aadam101:

      Do we really want Donald J Trump in charge of healthcare? He thinks healthcare costs $12 per month!!  It's not even the first time he has said this.  Earlier this year he mentioned a $15 per month figure!  Republicans are right.  We CANNOT allow government run healthcare.

      http://www.cnbc.com/2017/07/20/trump-thinks-young-people-pay-12-for-health-insurance.html

      You didn't include the entire quotes.  Gee I wonder why you made that omission.
      Here are the two quotes:

      Interview with New York Times:
      "Because you are basically saying from the moment the insurance, you're 21 years old, you start working and you're paying $12 a year for insurance, and by the time you're 70, you get a nice plan," he said.

      Interview with The Economist:
      "Insurance is, you're 20 years old, you just graduated from college, and you start paying $15 a month for the rest of your life and by the time you're 70, and you really need it, you're still paying the same amount and that's really insurance."

      Obviously what he is talking about is LIFE INSURANCE not health insurance.
      The blame is on the New York Times which restated what Trump said, adding the word HEALTH.  This is why during the audio of the interview, the reporter doesn't mention anything about that $12 a year.

      However, Trump did make a mistake.  He said $12 a year instead of $12 a month.

      Again, he was referring to LIFE insurance, not HEALTH insurance.

      I'm not going to blame you for this one.. other than you chopped the quote off.  Blame the New York Times.

      @aadam101:

      @Frederick:

      I think your earlier solution is the best.. make healthcare a STATE issue instead of FEDERAL.

      That's the same as doing nothing.  Only 14 states decided to run their own exchanges.  The other 36 chose to allow the federal government to do it.  These people pretend to hate big government but refuse to take any responsibility for their own people.

      The problem with this strategy is that sick people will simply move to the states that have healthcare when  they get sick.  That is one reason why these state plans for single payer (CA,NV,VT) will never work.  If I lived in a state where I couldn't buy insurance but then got cancer I'm going to move to a state where I can get healthcare.  If I stay where I am I will die.  That's why we need a federal healthcare system where everyone is entitled to the same care.

      That theory sounds good, but isn't realisitic.  If it were realistic, people would move out of states that have state income taxes and move to states that don't.  The best example of that is Massachusetts where people are taxed severely.

      The idea that they need a healthcare system where everyone is entitled to the same care never existed.  The healthcare plans available to a person were always dictated by region and state.  There are so many healthcare plans that very few people are being given the same benefits.  In fact, they cheapest health care plans (which still cost a fortune) cover virtually nothing but the most basic things that don't cost a lot anyway.

      I have one example which shows what a disaster healthcare is.  Two years ago, by father had a stent put in his heart.  The entire procedure lasted 1 hour.  The bill for this 2 day stay in the hospital was $78,000.  The surgeon's fee for that one hour was $28,000.  The anesthetic for the procedure was a medication that is provided in 1 liter bags for IV use.  My father required one bag of the stuff - which costs $500 per bag (which is in itself outrageous.. that bag of fluid is almost entirely water).  But  let's just pretend that $500 is a valid cost for anesthesia for that one hour.  So, how much of that $78,000 bill was for anesthesia?  $500?  oh no.. The bill for anesthesia was $5000.  Someone had to take that bag and connect it to my father's arm.  That must be where the additional $4500 came in.
      Healthcare COSTS are the problem.  Who is doing anything about them?

      To answer your question, pardon's would put an end to investigations of various people.  One doesn't have to be convicted of anything to get pardoned.   You don't even have to be charged.  It's like vetoing investigations.   Certainly the moonbats are being relentless in trying to stir up any kind of charges they can.  Trump Jr. can't fart without someone scrutinizing if the tone was flat or sharp.

      My question is.. how could the Washington Post possibly know this?
      "President Trump's lawyers are looking into the president's authority to grant pardons in connection with the special counsel investigation into Russia's role in the 2016 election, The Washington Post reported Thursday."
      It seems to me, the Washington Post is just making up stories - which is typical.  Just about every story that I've had personal knowledge of in local news - has been a gross distortion of reality.

      I applaud the Senators who didn't crumble to pressure and stood their ground on principle.

      Something you said caught my eye…   you are saying that the Republican's plan is "MEAN" to poor people.
      How's this for being mean?  Obamacare REQUIRES everybody to purchase health insurance.  The premise is that the people who don't need or use the insurance will subsidize those that do.  Is that fair?  Seems to me.. requiring people making minimum wage to purchase health insurance is mean.

      You raise a good point. But what is the alternative? From what I have read and know about how insurance works- you need a large pool of both healthy and unwell people to buy into it for the system to work. Yes, the healthy subsidize the unhealthy- but that's how insurance companies can afford to keep everyone covered. And while it MAY SEEM UNFAIR to the healthy- the logic behind the whole system is that EVENTUALLY the healthy will wind up being sick so they will reap the benefits of the system in turn.

      If only the sick got insurance the whole system would just collapse. It's like paying it forward- yes you are healthy today and you're paying for some sick guy- but eventually it will all come around and benefit you when it's you or a loved one who is suddenly struck down by an illness.

      Yes.. but plenty of people buy insurance when they are healthy - just in case they do get sick.  People should not be forced to piss their money away on health insurance they don't want or need.  On the other hand… why should health insurance be guaranteed to people who are high risk?  If someone smokes 3 packs of unfiltered cigarettes per day, drinks a liter of whiskey per day, shoots heroin every night, eats nothing but  hot dogs and candy.. and uses a motorcycle without wearing a helmet... don't put me in the same insurance plan as them!

      Clearly "Obamacare" is the most partisan legislation either.  One side is completely for it, the other side is completely against it.  That is troublesome no matter what side of the fence you are on.

      I can't think of any congressman that I'm impressed with, republican, democrat, or others.  Congress is a disaster, which also casts a shadow upon the parliamentary form of governments which are basically a congress running the entire show.

      As for this repeal thing… from what I can tell, instead of voting to repeal Obamacare, the republicans have decided to just let Obamacare crash.  A real life analogy to that would be whether to have a dying dog with only a short time left to be put to sleep with an injection (repealed) or just allowed to die by letting nature take it's course.

      The research on Obamacare is extremely confusing and the facts are so obfuscated that they are useless.   One thing that caught my eye is "Who qualifies for Obamacare?"    That is my biggest problem with Obamacare.. in that people are REQUIRED to purchase health care or be severely penalized on their taxes.  Most of those health plans being purchased don't cover squat and are useless.

      I think your earlier solution is the best.. make healthcare a STATE issue instead of FEDERAL.
