‘Twink’ Tunes - Japanese Folk Songs
Among the YouTube videos I was thrilled to find last week were these with songs from the 1960’s.
Regional songs “boasting” and “bragging”–according to Google translate--each specific to a particular locale and its attributes.
Familiar with quite a few--tunes I heard growing up--from a collection of Japanese songs performed in a variety of genres. The boxed-set of 10 albums was a gift to my mom, received in a visit back home to Japan almost 50 years ago!
I just now realized that that visit was her first time back to Japan since leaving--very pregnant with me when she left. (“Re: Any guy here who is actually close to his father?” - https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=45002.msg237028#msg237028) I was fortunate in going with her--accompanying her again on that return trip--this time sitting beside her and not inside her. I was 8 years old and it was the summer before my 3rd grade--3 weeks in 1968 that I can still recall very vividly.
Songs my mom called “children’s” songs, I always presumed were songs for kids--hearing them leading me to believe they were sung by women. Years later I found out she meant songs for kids, made by kids--girls I then figured.
It was only a week ago, upon finding these videos; I was surprised to learn that it wasn’t only girls, seeing the “Victor Boys Folk Music Association” referenced in the descriptions.
Something I can’t exactly explain, but knowing that does something to me. Nothing sexual or related to twinks, yet a boy in the picture seems to heighten things--something along the lines of appreciating or somehow liking the music more, if that makes any sense.

No doubt, the songs aren’t for everybody. Given the vocals–quality, pitch, etc.--some folks will actually find them quite irritating. Not me!
I absolutely love them!
Happy as fuck I found ‘em--playin’ tha shit out ‘em ever since!
