Dodgers Do It Again!
Sunday night’s win over our arch-rival capped off a series sweep of those Giants, our 14th sweep so far this season–and what a season!
Since our 10 and 12 start, we’ve gone 64 and 19--a .771 winning percentage. Currently at .705, we’re the only team in baseball in the sevens.
Not only was it the second come-from-behind win of this weekend’s series--it was the 31st of the season, and the 9th one of the “walk-off” variety!
Just as it’s been on this record-breaking run, it truly is a team effort from the veterans down to the rookies, and all the players in between--every game finding a different player “stepping up to the plate.”
That was surely the case Sunday night--on national TV no less--down a run in the bottom of the 11th…
The count is full for number 65, Kyle Farmer, and he delivers with the walk-off 2 run double. Only “called-up” Thursday, it was his “debut” and his very first at bat in the “bigs”…

Soon after, it was another “first” for the newest man on the roster, something a player might only experience at the end of his career (or never at all)–a “curtain call”--wow! :clap2:
Alright–the season half over--I’ve waited long enough to start chattering about my team–my Dodgers!
Yeah, Colorado and Arizona thought they’d be contenders in the NL West–until they played us right before the All Star break. Prior to that, it was pretty much us in 3rd place--behind those two battling over 1st place.
Things changing dramatically with us sweeping them in the final series of games before the break--they’re now more than 10 games behind us. The 2 sweeps--part of our league leading 13 sweeps so far this season.
Regarding that other team in the West, just across the bay from where I live–the team many thought would be the “best in the West”--well they picked up where they left off at the end of last season. They’re still on that record-breaking run going the wrong direction that they started right after last season’s All Star break, and they’re currently more than 30 games behind us.
As for the rest of the league--last season’s contenders and champs, and even this season’s Astros. Baseball’s best for practically the whole first half, until they too were passed by us--the only team with 60 wins going into the break--and now the only team currently in the 70’s with wins.
Fortunately, we didn’t do what the Giants did last season, and the gap between us and everybody else just keeps getting wider with this record-breaking season we’re having and the record-setting pace we’re on.
Go Dodgers!
No no no! ;D
Let's have a step back in time to 1984 when Mary Elizabeth Gore, Al Gore's wife, decided to please her 11-year-old daughter by offering her the record of the new singer "à la mode" Prince who have a major hit with Purple Rain. And what is her surprise when she heard that, in "Darling Nikki", Prince sung about feminine masturbation! Then, she discovered that 80's artists like Van Halen and Mötley Crüe also sang about sex and luxury.
As senator wife, she formed Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC) and wrote to Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) to ask to stop commercialisation of such songs, which resulted in a big laugh. But she used her husband reputation, and finally succeeded with the apparition of the parental advisory sticker. But this sticker, far from stopping sales, meant that the albums with this sticker on them were "so cool". Since then, labels don't hesitate to put this sticker, because this boosts sales!
Well that’s definitely a whole lot more than I know about that label, seeing that all the knowledge I’ve got about it–pretty much--is what I picked up in putting that post together.
Anyway, not meaning to imply As Nasty As They Wanna Be was the first to have the advisory label, but that it was the album that started the controversy, which led to the introduction of the label–according to Rolling Stone…

Banned in the U.S.A. (1990) was the first album to sport the advisory label.

Now that’s one I do know!
…and in spite of the reaction of the folks in the movie Purple Rain from 1984–(Has it really been over 30 years? Geez!)–“Darling Nikki” is one of my Prince favorites!

Ah ah!
Did you know it's because of this song that the "explicit lyrics" stickers appeared a few times after on the records?
That I did not know.
Coincidentally–in putting together reply #1980 to this topic--reminded that it all started with the 1989 album As Nasty As They Wanna Be from 2 Live Crew.
"Around the Way Girl" (1990) L.L. Cool J
A hit single by from his album Mama Said Knock You Out–my favorite of his songs--of those I’ve heard, it’s actually the only one I like.
Referring to a particular type--calling out description and features in a rap about that type of girl–an "around the way girl."
Peaking at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100–#5 and #7 on the R&B and dance music charts--it’s his first top 10 single.
"Around the Way Girl" was certified Gold on January 15, 1991 for sales of over 500,000 copies.

Hello AngelK…I see that you buy albums quite regularly, when it seems the trend these days is to search the internet for a “freebie.”
I must admit that I’m unfamiliar with many of your selections and have no idea of their availability or rarity.
So, I was just wondering if you buy them because it’s the right thing to do, or because you can’t find a free offering on-line.
Just curious. ???
Just recently learning that 2 Live Crew founder “Fresh Kid Ice” passed away last week, “Me So Horny”–from the controversial 1989 album As Nasty As They Wanna Be–immediately came to mind. Listening to it a few times prompted me to post this reply.
Familiar with just a few of their tunes, I would say I’m neutral when it comes to being a 2 Live Crew fan. Of the few tunes, “Me So Horny” is the only one I love--Chris’ rap having a lot do with that--a bittersweet recollection with his untimely passing.
“Girls always ask me why I fuck so much.
I say, ‘What's wrong, baby doll, with a quick nut?’
'Cause you're the one and you shouldn't be mad.
I won't tell your mama if you don't tell your dad.
I know he'll be disgusted when he sees your pussy busted.
Won't your mama be so mad if she knew I got that ass?
I'm a freak in heat, a dog without warning.
My appetite is sex, 'cause me so horny.
…It's true you were a virgin until you met me.
I was the first to make you hot and wetty-wetty.
You tell your parents that we're goin' out,
Never to the movies, just straight to my house.
You said it yourself, you like it like I do,
So put your lips on my dick, and suck my asshole too.
I'm a freak in heat, a dog without warning.
My appetite is sex, 'cause me so horny.” - “Fresh Kid Ice” (May 29, 1964 - July 13, 2017)

“Baby Don’t Go” (Released 1964, Rereleased 1965) Sonny & Cher
Without a doubt, it’s my favorite song by the duo.
There are some classic images of them over the years in the music videos at these two links…
Although the first link has the better audio, the other one includes footage of the two performing the song at the Hollywood Palace in 1965.
