I've been using uTorrent 2.2.1 for years now with no issues. Many people recommend not updating above that version, as later versions are unstable and unreliable. Some/many torrent sites have banned any version above v2.2.1 for that very reason.

RE: A trick to improve downloading.. and why does it work?
It could also have to do with not only the speed of your internet connection, but it could also be that one torrent client is using a better open port than the other one. Next time look at what port each torrent client is using and choose to use the one which is downloading faster on both. Then maybe try using that port only on the slower torrent client to see if it makes a difference.

His 2 bestselling ones were Mr Tamboreen Man (co-wrote with Bob Dylan and also played guitar on the album, alongside Dylan)
Correction...it's Mr. Tambourine Man, not Tamboreen.

defs SW, its a space opera but in truth I've only seen the recent Trek movies - which aren't that great
Then you're denying yourself a lot because...although I thought the "new" Trek movies were terrific (the ones with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto)...those are a reboot, not the movies with the tv series actors (6 with the original series, and the 4 Next Generation cast).
You need to catch up with the first 10 movies with the tv actors. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home is the best with the original series group, and Star Trek: First Contact is the best with the Next Generation cast. At least try to catch those two, and with an open mind.

Totally Star Wars, love the space opera genre! Honestly, they're 2 different balls of wax though.
Exactly...but I'm a Trekkie all the way. Have been since 1986 when the 4th Trek movie came out and turned me Trekkie. Although I was indeed into Star Wars a couple of years before that, but dropped the SW interest once I turned Trekkie.
Keep in mind that Trek set the standard for everything to follow and is 11 years older than the first SW movie in 1977. 13 years actually, if you count the original 1964 pilot.

Yet, you call things you don't agree with as "unfounded conspiracy theories".
That's quite hypocritical of you.
That's real brilliant and mature of you to hijack and misappropriate my comment from the Politics thread into this one where it has no relevance.

One thing that I have observed is that the 1-Star Troll leaves drag shows alone. The troll skips them.
I forgot to mention...What do the drag shows have to do with this person's ratings on your uploads? Nothing, in fact. You make it sound as though that's some sort of selective discrimination. It's not. Again, that's just what he thinks of those particular type of "Boys Love" shows. It has nothing to do with any of the drag show uploads.

@cinemacapman Yeah! So true and it's a fact. It can be bothersome though and ruins the presentation.
One thing that I have observed is that the 1-Star Troll leaves drag shows alone. The troll skips them.
Two things:
- How does it "ruin the presentation"? Nothing is "ruined" simply because someone has given their opinion. Your upload is still there, as is the description and screenshots/pics...and people are still downloading your torrents.
Nothing is "ruined". - I think you should stop referring to whoever this person is as a "troll". They are not...they are simply giving their own entitled opinion (whatever their reason is regarding these Boys Love series), and it's just a bit misguided and somewhat rude to be referring to them as a "troll".
I am not defending nor condemning their opinion ratings, I am just trying to reason this out sensibly and logically, and to try to get you to see what I mean regarding this.

I don't get how that is connected to what I am experiencing but if you mean that the troll may be someone from the USA who belongs to that kind of thinking then he's living in his own small world. Big is the world and it is diverse, his will be crushed by the bigger reality.
Exactly...the world is indeed diverse, which means people are entitled to their own opinion of something. As far as relating to the comments you get on your torrents, that person is entitled to their opinion, regardless of the reason(s) why.
As someone said in a previous reply, all that really matters is how many downloads/hits you get on your torrents. Peoples' opinions and the "votes" don't matter.

RE: Just another new guy here
@lololulu19 said in Just another new guy here:
@Alnuzx Since you are new.. here's some sage advice on how to build a ratio. Download ALL the NEW Freeleech stuff, and seed it for a couple of days before deleting it.
I would also try to avoid downloading new Freeleech stuff which already has a lot of seeders already on it, simply because they may have better or faster connections than you do, which could make it very difficult for you to get much seeding done.
Download NEW content until you develop enough of a ratio where you can afford to download old content.
I don't see why that would make much difference. I would still try to stay away from downloading any torrents which already have a sizeable number of seeders already on them, to avoid the possibility of them having better seeding speeds than you have.
If you see a large collection that looks interesting, don't download the entire thing until you first unselect all the content, and then pick a few images or videos to test to see if the content is actually any good.
I would simply avoid any large collections unless they are Freeleech.
Sampling some of the content first is a good suggestion, though. You get a sizable "bonus" for uploading your first torrent, so make sure you do that.
This may be a difficult suggestion, but try uploading a torrent that looks interesting...not the same sort of thing which may already be here. You want potential downloaders to become interested in what you upload as your first torrent, so make it interesting to get more interest and activity in it to build your ratio up better.

RE: Copyright Enfringement - Information
@vanman said in Copyright Enfringement - Information:
@ianfontinell huh? everthing shared is copyrighted. It was produced by someone who has given permission to reproduce or share. That includes porn, TV, movies etc etc.
That makes no sense. You just contradicted yourself. You not only said "everything shared is copyrighted" and then "produced by someone who has given permission".
No they have not automatically "given permission to reproduce or share". In some instances, maybe, but not as a generalized blanket rule.
@vanman said in Copyright Enfringement - Information:
All content created is copyrighted the moment it's filmed
That further contradicts what you said as far as "given permission".
You need to put a lid on how you frequently pontificate and ramble on about something you know nothing about, attempting to appear as though you know what you're talking about.
I've been noticing this as a common pattern from you in the Forums. -
RE: Copyright Enfringement - Information
@vanman said in Copyright Enfringement - Information:
@eobox91103 google is your friend There is no such thing as non copyrighted material. The content creator owns the copyright the moment they create it. Even if downloaded with permission it cannot be shared legally. The only exception to share without permission is fair use. Therefore a site demanding only non-copyrighted material would have no content lol unless people are uploading their own work. But that wouldn't be pleasant lol
Nonsense. Haven't you ever heard of something which is in the "public domain"?
Which means NO COPYRIGHT is on that material either because copyright has run out on it due to age, or because copyright was never properly registered to begin with. -

@ianfontinell said in Several questions about takedowns...:
@blueorange22 said in Several questions about takedowns...:
Are there ways to evade or at least prolong the torrent's life before it's taken down?
In fact yes. Avoid uploading "official" pictures, only upload frames you took yourself from the uploaded material. Avoid using descriptions found on the internet, write your own or just skip it altogether and just write technical info like resolution, lenght, etc. If it's from a studio avoid writing its full name, go with abbreviations such as CB, SC, CF, etc. If the video has a working title try not to use it, prefer just the actors names.
In fact...No.
What is the point of changing the name or using abbreviations? How are people supposed to find or search for such a title?
In any case. I think it's somewhere in the Rules that you're not allowed to change a video's title to "disguise" it. -

RE: Re-uploading existing torrent instead of re-seeding existing one?
@vanman Not so such a "nightmare". It works quite well and is so enforced on a couple of torrent sites I frequent. It's not as difficult as you believe it to be.
