      More "loving and tolerant" liberals

Y'all don't need her permission to die.....

A man hears on the radio that a hurricane is coming and that he should evacuate! Instead, he grabs his bible and starts to pray for God to save him!
In about an hour, the police come by in a small boat, as the water is rising into his home... but he refuses to go with them, grasping his bible even tighter and imploring his God to save him!
30-minutes later, the Coast Guard comes by in a large boat - the water is now hip-deep in his living room, but again he refuses to go with them. Instead, he takes his bible and climbs to the roof of his home where he stands, arms wide and asks God to forgive his sins and to save him from the storm!
A short while later, the National Guard circles overhead in a helicopter... a guardsman comes down a rope ladder, but the man refuses to go, telling him he is CERTAIN that his God will save him!

Hours later, the man, having drowned in the storm, arrives at the Pearly Gates of Heaven... St Peter welcomes him, thanks him for living such a wonderful life, also but says he is so sad that he is so very early. There was much more for him to do!

Early? the man replied! He had prayed - hard! - for God to save him! He assumed that it must have just been his time!

Oh no! St. Peter replied: We sent 2 boats and a helicopter! What else could we have done?

Unvaccinated people have been given the information: The vaccines are free (at least in the US they are) to all: legal and illegal, insured and not. They are provably safe and effective (500 million times over now).
If you choose to ignore the gifts that God has given us to fight this disease, who are we to stop you from your own horrible, agonizing (suffocating) death?
      It is a FREE country!

As I've said before: harsh? yes! But Mother Nature is a mean and vengeful bitch and if you give her virus the opportunity to kill you, she will take it - and neither the virus nor Mother Nature will give a damn about your race, religion, color, creed, money, or politics!

@raphjd said in 99.7% Survive, so why a vaccine when TB kills x1000:

      @bi4smooth

You forgot D, where the President's Admin tells them what and who to ban, as we have now.

Also under D, they ban speech that runs counter to the liberal agenda

C is extremely dishonest because, as you and I have discussed before, prior to Section 230, they were only liable if they moderated the speech (publisher) but they were NOT liable if they acted as a platform. In either case, it was their duty to remove illegal content, such as kiddie porn and whatnot. This is still the case under Section 230.

Section 230 is the special right for "big tech" to be cunts to those they disagree with.

Let's not forget that Parlor was found not to have been the platform where your beloved 6 Jan was set up. That was FB and Twitter.

You silly twit - I have no issues with Parler! (For a Conservative, I'd think you'd know how to SPELL it!)... they are a platform VERY MUCH like Twitter! They are an independent company VERY MUCH like Twitter! They have millions of subscribers VERY MUCH like Twitter!

If Parler wants to ban Liberal speech, they have the right to!

Again, as you often do, you lose the forest for the trees! I do not support Twitter and FB de-platforming users... but I also think it is THEIR business if they do! There is no 1st Amendment issue because there is no Government involvement!

If you could clench your ass-cheeks and stop the bleeding out your asshole, you'd realize that I'm looking at this systemically - I don't want Government interference in private enterprise. You're looking at specific cases where the "systems" they put into place offended you.

I think you tweak the "system" to be less offensive (knowing you'll never please anyone - least of all you, personally, @raphjd)... you think you throw it out and either have full Governmental control (fascist) or no controls at all (anarchist).

I still say your PREMISE that the Government is FORCING the big-tech firms to delete posts is false... I think that if there was Government pressure to do so, they'd say so and make a fuss about it! That would be a Government intrusion into their realm, and an unwelcome one at that.

Funny that we can accept that Russians interfered in the 2016 elections for the benefit of Trump - but that he didn't collude with them, they acted on their own. Although it benefited the Trump Campaign, they didn't control it at all...

Yet, when we look at Big Tech, the fact that they're working against Trump is sufficient to imply collusion with the Democrats and/or the Government....

You sound like a F**ing Democrat!

@raphjd said in Too late for this guy... will you be next?:

I didn't say YOU blame Trump, but your fellow liberals have, and still do. Remember, you people constantly blame Trump for everything. It was the Dems that no matter what Trump did, it was always wrong, even if he did what they wanted.

I see - let's follow in your examples and push your argument here to its extremes... you're a nationalist and a fascist (that is: you believe in country first - even above humanity as a whole, and you believe Trump is "the answer" - "the only answer" - to our "problems" and should be followed "religiously" (with no oversight or control - absolute power!)... so, since that's you, I will hold you responsible for the Holocaust, Jim Crow, and the death of Jesus Christ - because those are all actions taken by people with the same beliefs! Seems to follow!

Oh, those aren't your REAL beliefs - but they're exaggerated claims of your beliefs! So that still works in your "example"....

The "accepted science", as you admit was garbage.

I credit Trump for looking at everything that might help and not just listening to the asshole who funded GOFR in the very lab that C-19 came from.

It's also the same asshole who said that GOFR was worth a global pandemic or 2.

I'm sorry that your personal nightmares appear to always include Dr. Fauci - that's not the case for the rest of humanity.

You claim I have "Trump Derangement Syndrome" because you think I "blame" Trump for everything (which is not true - I give Trump credit for a LOT of things - even COVID-19 related things: Trump designed the contracts that not only led to the discovery/development of the COVID-19 vaccines, but also made them "fixed cost" to the Government for as long as we need them! I thought it obvious, but to spell it out for you: Trump has saved taxpayers $billions in drug costs for those vaccines!)

You, however, clearly have Fauci Derangement Syndrome: Fauci, in your eyes, is pure, unmitigated, and irredeemable evil incarnate! If Fauci came out in favor of brushing your teeth, you'd let yours fall out rather than comply!

Just because you aren't "officially" a member,.....

And you're not a card-carrying NAZI either???? Am I following properly?

Correct, you are not a strawman. You are the person HERE that constantly defends the DNC.

That is DEMONSTRABLY not true - in fact, I SELDOM come out in favor of Dems at all - what I DO do - consistently - is point out where your DEMONIZATION of your opponents goes off the rails. As happens frequently, we agree on the underlying premise - I just don't stand for the hyperbole and made-up facts!

      • You think you need to make Nancy Pelosi out to be a child-eating deamon that should be sent back to the hell from which she was spawned
      • I think Nancy Pelosi is a Democrat who wants to do Democrat things - things I don't like (similar to when my dog used to pee on the floor when no one was at home... I didn't like it, but WTF: he's a dog!). I do not need to demonize Nancy to think she's wrong (about most things: the budget, the border, military spending, "Green" laws...the list is long!... but, not everything! Wearing masks on the House floor is a GOOD idea - for the health and safety of members and staff).
      • You think I'm "evil" (a Liberal) because I don't like Trump - I think he was autocratic, nationalist, fascist (which is redundant, given that I already said he was autocratic and a nationalist), and an egomaniac.
      • I don't think HE was good for our country, and I don't think his what's good for Trump is good for the Country stands up to history very well... but I also don't think he's evil, nor was he out to hurt anyone - just out for Trump (and no one else)...
      • You think that, to win an argument, you have to be accepted as correct and vindicated on every point: every I dotted, every T crossed, every punctuation mark confirmed.... You also seem to think that repeating yourself and raising your tone HELPS your argument (it does not)
      • I think that arguing is a teaching tool.... often, neither person is entirely correct, and often neither person is entirely wrong.

Still not fully approved and classed as experimental with the drug companies full exempt from any harm caused.

Yes - and it's not Wednesday yet, so let's just assume that it's Taco Tuesday ALL THE TIME and FOREVER! (The FDA has said approval should be completed "by September"... I don't know... only 500 million+ doses given so far... I think there needs to be more study! LOL)

I'm sure the FDA delayed the authorization on purpose.

It's all a conspiracy! The reptiles are controlling all of this to kill off all of the humanoids!

Or, maybe (just maybe) it's Government bureaucracy and incompetence that's lead to it taking this long... but to call it a "delay" is insane... these approvals normally take 2-3 years... this will be a FULL approval in 9-months...

You are all over the map. You demand we believe (and worship) the CDC, but when you don't like what's on the website then fuck 'em.

I'm actually rather consistent: you have to look at the latest data because data in this area are changing RAPIDLY! In April, 1% of COVID-19 cases in the US were of the Delta variant. Today, it's over 90%... and it's killing kids, where 6-months ago they were hardly impacted by the virus at all.

It reminds me of your bizarre claims that the Mayo Clinic didn't really mean that getting the vaccine would prevent you from getting C-19, despite them actually stating that on their website.

Your claim is the bizarre one: that the Mayo Clinic said that, unlike any other vaccine in history, THIS ONE creates a magic barrier that prevents COVID-19 from getting into your body.

Typical you: you're taking someone's "simplification" of a piece of data, and then extrapolating it into ridiculous ways... and using your extrapolations to disprove their statements... which were true (as written and as intended to be interpreted)...

Hey, you are a massive defender of social media and muh science. You previously said you were against spreading misinformation, but you have no qualms about your beloved social media dictating what is truth and what is a lie.

Social media is great for sharing pics of your dick and vagina, as well as sharing vacation photos and what you had for dinner and who came to your anti-vax party!

Social media sucks as a source of news and factual data about anything. (Even people's dick-pics are usually enhanced, or taken from "flattering" angles!)

You've been extremely silent on the fact that Biden has been working with social media, making them a de facto government agency, to block and ban people that they don't like what they say. No 1st Amendment concerns from you.

I don't think that's true: I don't think ANY of the social media companies are being controlled by, nor would they tolerate control by, the Government. An "atta boy" from Biden is hardly "collusion"...

      Conspiracy theory anyone?

But to your point about my thoughts: NO it would NOT be OK if the Government were telling social media companies who or what to censor...

If AOC cared, so would you.

AOC sucks your dick, not mine! I don't follow her (she's really a rather toothless-dragon.. more an annoyance, and a whiny one at that... kinda like Rand Paul is to the Republican Party in the Senate)...

Grammarly, is pretty rubbish despite how expensive it is.

Try "Middle School English for dummies" - it's on Amazon πŸ™‚

      You voted for him.

Let's not forget what your fellow liberals have said about the last President.

Again with the generalizations that are contrary to the specifics... I voted AGAINST Trump (he was a danger to our Democracy - a fear that was DEMONSTRATED on Jan 6!)... If I asked you: would you rather I shit on your dinner or pee in your drink... and you chose one, would that mean you're into piss or crap? Maybe in your world... not mine.

      Here we are once again.

You can't stop defending Biden and social media.

I defend free commerce & Capitalism.... even when companies make decisions I don't like! (My local paper dropped about HALF of their Sunday comics... fuckers! But it's their paper! They can run whatever they want! If I want to read those comics, I can find them in other places!)

      You defend Autocracy & Fascism.

I didn't know that the Raving Looney party has a branch in the US. I thought it was only in the UK.

There are some loonies in the UK, I'll grant you that... and there are definitely loonies here too (Rand Paul and AOC both come to mind quickly!)... But "moderation" has become a 4-letter word in politics - and people like you are the reason!

Did you get that from Rachel Maddow or the BBC? Maybe the CBC or ABC? Maybe you got that from when CNN was faking Chris Cuomo was on his deathbed from C-19 but was caught being a dickhead and arguing with a cyclist because Chris thinks bike lanes aren't for bikes. Maybe you heard if from Don Lemon during one of his anti-white man tirades, just before he went home to get fisted by his white husband.

Well, unlike you, I am capable of independent, reasoned thought. My prediction that Trump entering the 2024 Presidential race before the 2022 midterms would doom Republican chances to retake the legislature is purely my own opinion. I say so because Trump (love him or hate him) is a polarizing figure that fires up a larger portion of the the Dem base than the portion of the Republican base that fervently support him.

This will be a shocker to you: Elections are about getting the right voters to the polls... if Trump fires up 10 million of HIS followers to go out and vote for his candidates in 2022, but also fires up 15 million Dems to go vote "anything BUT Trump" in the same election, the Republicans lose... Not EVERYWHERE, but enough where's!

@raphjd said in 99.7% Survive, so why a vaccine when TB kills x1000:

      @serenity

Like it or not, both of you are quoting someone.

I don't agree with what he is saying, but your source has also been caught lying to us.

Query: Which sounds more like a NAZI state?

      • In Country A, private companies are allowed to determine - on their own - what content people are allowed to post. The barrier to entry in the marketplace is essentially zero, and startups in the content distribution space are numerous and varied.
      • In Country B, private companies are told by the Government what speech is allowed, and what speech is not allowed. Companies who wish to be content providers must register with the Government (given that the Internet is not in any one country, I'm clueless which Government you would want that to be...) and must allow Government auditors to view posts and removals to ensure that they comply with Government rules.

      ... and for completeness:

      • Country C, where private companies who distribute content are required by the Government to allow any and all voices to be heard, but are also held legally liable for every piece of content posted on their site. Companies initially start-up and try to handle the onslaught of messages. User fees to cover the cost of editing the content are about $100/month, but are not enough to cover costs, so companies change to requiring users who want to POST content to "buy a license". Within 6-months, the companies just close up... there is no more "social media" as the companies cannot afford the liability insurance and/or the users are not willing to pay for access.

Clearly, you are a Fauni worshipper.

Take 2 documents and compare them and if they match, they are talking about the same thing. That is what Rand Paul did.

The official NIH definition of GOFR and what Fauci paid Bill Gate's Eco-Health to do in Wuhan matched.

You don't need to be an expert to know that the 2 things matched.

Seriously dude, pull your head out of Fauci's ass.

Seriously, dude - pull your EGO out of your own ass...

You still seem to think that your "I Got a C+ in High School Science Class (even though I blew the teacher to get the +)" is more enlightened and informed about genetic research than.... oh, the PhDs who make it their life's work?

We're not talking about 2-paragraph documents (where some Technical Writer has tried to summarize 3,000 pages of research into 2 paragraphs or 100 words, whichever is shorter)... we're talking about knowing and understanding the WORDS in the paragraphs...

I'm still waiting to see your CV - Masters in Biology even? (That'd be more germane to the topic than Paul's Ophthalmology!)

@raphjd said in Too late for this guy... will you be next?:

      @bi4smooth

Let's be honest here. Come on, try it for once.

If Covid started during Obama and Trump said the same shit as Biden, Harris, Pelosi, Schumer, etc, etc, etc you would have and still have a massive cow.

It doesn't matter who was President when COVID-19 hit - even if the Chinese manufactured the virus and then lost control of it, it is not, has never been, and I could not fathom how it could become the US President's fault that COVID-19 hit us! I've never blamed Trump for COVID-19!

I do blame Trump for "giving up" on the Scientific approach to a response to COVID-19, though! His initial responses to COVID-19 were coming DIRECTLY from the scientists (who were wrong, but their viewpoints were the "accepted science" of the time)... but Trump (like you) seemed to think that if the scientists got it wrong once, they're just a "bunch of losers" and couldn't ever be trusted again, so he looked elsewhere for answers - answers that supported HIM in his re-election campaign! Nevermind any kind of FACTS, it quickly became about DEFLECTION and the CAMPAIGN! (And that cost us many thousands of lives... the fact that COVID-19 also cost him the election was pretty much a foregone conclusion by May/June of 2020... there just wasn't going to be a way - science-based or fairy-tale-based - to "recover" enough from COVID-19 to NOT get blamed by the electorate. It wasn't fair, but life ISN'T fair! Never was, shouldn't ever expect it to become fair!

Because it was your beloved DNC that said that crap, against Trump, you are defending it.

I'm not a member of the DNC, and you know it.

I am not the straw-man you're looking for...

The vaccine still has not gone through full testing, which is why it's classed as experimental and the makers are exempt from any harm caused.

The Pfizer vaccine is a couple of weeks, if not just days, away from getting FULL FDA approval (beyond the emergency approval). The Moderna vaccine is just a couple of weeks behind that. The FULL approval process is just paperwork at this point. 300-million+ doses have been given out in the US alone, and the health/safety protocols are already very well known.

And to be clear: These are vaccines created by, funded by, and spurred by the Republican President - Project Warp Speed was created in April, 2020 by the Trump Administration. Honestly, if the first vaccines had been ready in Sept or maybe even Oct 2020 (instead of getting their original emergency approval in Dec, 2020 - a month AFTER the election), it could have easily have swayed the Election in Trump's favor. Woulda, shoulda, coulda... didn't happen that way. Wasn't fair (see above on fair).

As we discussed in previous threads, fewer kids have died from Covid than have gotten any of the single life-altering side effects from the various vaccines. This isn't "fake" news, this comes from the CDC's own data.

That's just bullshit - especially when looking at the DELTA variant, which - unlike the original virus - IS making kids sick (deathly so). Even kids under 12 who CANNOT get the vaccine!

Oh and let's not forget that quoting from the CDC, NIH, WHO and any other legit medical body can get you banned from your beloved, can do no wrong, social media.

You're so focused on your social media feeds... a GREAT DEAL of what you read on social media is bullshit - people who (not unlike you) will see a story, don't even bother to read it (beyond the headline or 1st paragraph), but reference it in their own fact-deficient diatribe about how they see things!

I'm so sorry you got butt-hurt for re-posting something that you think was perfectly OK... it wasn't my call, I honestly have no idea about the facts (or, more correctly, about your post) - because I just don't care! But, you are also (apparently) butt-hurt that I don't want to shoot the social media platforms in the head because you got your feelings hurt. C'est la vie. I can live with that. LOL

You President has admitted through his mouthpiece that he is working with your beloved social media to ban certain content and people, who post things that the Der Fuerh doesn't like. That makes your beloved social media agents of the state, thus a 1st Amendment violation.

You need a better spelling and grammar checker... LOL Still:

      • He's only my President in so far as he is EVERY American's President - so I won't argue your perspective there... but the idea of the Government supporting private enterprise in dampening the actual harm being done to our country - in many MANY cases by foreign adversaries! - by removing posts that contain mis-information about COVID-19 isn't scary to me...

What would be scary would be if the Government overreached and:

      • Decided for itself what was TRUE and what was FALSE, and then FORCED the companies to comply. This ain't that: the companies police themselves, with nothing but the verbal support of the Government - essentially saying "good job! what you're doing is good for our country!"
      • Decided for itself that the companies COULD NOT police their own (private) networks.
      • Government TELLING (forcing) private companies how to run their business is a bad idea.Government thanking and supporting private companies for stepping up and doing the right thing is a GOOD idea!

Another example of this is the recent number of corporations deciding - on their own - to take initiative on global warming. Cool! All in favor, say Aye! All opposed? choose to buy from other companies if you must, but its THEIR company, they can run it however they like! BUT! The Government "Green New Deal" that seeks to FORCE companies into making GREEN initiatives is overreach, and a BAD idea. Companies in an open and free marketplace make the right moves... even if it takes a while.

As Winston Churchill once said about us: "You can always trust the Americans to DO THE RIGHT THING... once they've tried everything else!" LOL

At best, your party is the do-nothing, warhawk, swamp party. At worst, your party is the Pelosi is god party.

My party is trying to figure out what to do Post-Trump, and is being sidelined by the notion that we may not yet be Post-Trump.

If Trump declares his candidacy for President in 2024 before the 2022 midterms, he will DOOM the party's hopes of retaking the House and/or Senate.. and his chances in 2024 are NIL! He has reduced the size of his support base every year since 2016, and it's smaller still than it was in 2020...

Careful... @raphjd is certain that I am a faker... nevermind a 40-year history being registered in the Republican party (tho, admittedly, I do not always vote Republican - it depends on the candidate!)...

I'm not a Trumpite, and so to him (and some others), I'm no longer welcome to call myself a Republican... When their opinion matters, I'll break out the tea - because there will be ice all over hell!

      @encardium said in Upscaled content:

It doesn't seem to be an upload rule that you can't upload upscales right now, so the first order of business seems to be that the rules should be changed to allow downscales for people who don't wanna spend the bandwidth, but it should be against the rules to upscale.

Then you still can't detect em all, but it is fair to warn users not to post upscales.

Another thing you can do is make people declare whether the torrent post is a rip at the original resolution, downscale or upscale, and if they submit with upscale selected you just eat their submission and time them out. ( you don't just want them to go back and lie, so giving them a 3 week freeze on download and upload will probably make the point)

So first a comment about the technology we're all using here: This (GT.ru) is a torrent TRACKER, not a FILE SERVER. The server (at GT.ru) never - EVER - gets the actual files in question. The server (GT.ru) ONLY ever sees the torrent files themselves (tiny little files with checksums about actual files that are on other people's computers!)

Ever wonder why they depend on USERS LIKE US to detect & report duplicates? If the files were ON the server, it'd be a simple matter to compare them. But this ain't that...BTW: If you see something that's duplicated (and the file size is within 10% of the original), report it as a DUPE. However, if you already HAVE a file, and you just happen so see it uploaded again, only BIGGER... well, I'm afraid it has to be "Let the buyer beware"... There is no reasonable way to expect the Staff (or the server) to be able to detect that!

      You love to ignore this.

      I give up... you win!

Let's hunt down all the Scientists and behead them! Guillotines should server the purpose well!

      Off with their heads!

Or not... or, we can let scientists get back to being scientists... I certainly agree that we were all better off when Fauci wasn't giving press conferences and wasn't being asked to make public policy (which IS NOT HIS JOB - no matter how many or often reporters ask him!)

      @bi4smooth

Maybe you should read up on Climate-gate or Fauci's role in the AZT scandal before you worship scientists.

Scientists aren't saints. Many of them are dirty as hell.

Scientists are people too... none of us are perfect.

Look, I haven't looked up Fauci's role in AZT - because I already know the NIH's and FDA's role in the drug. From my memory:

      • they attempted to run double-blind tests, but the AIDS patients didn't care - they would find each other and either "pool pills" or determine (because it wasn't that hard) which one had the real drugs, and those who didn't bought the real AZT on the black-market)
      • they (the FDA) already knew how dangerous the drug was because it was a failed cancer treatment... and the side effects were not "within the scope" of the AIDS disease's side effects, so it was easy for the medical professionals to tell who was on AZT and who was not.
      • people (and doctors) were LITERALLY "grasping at straws" for ANYTHING that night help - and AIDS sufferers routinely offered themselves up as Guinea-Pigs - knowing they were going to die, but hoping (praying) that they might help others.

Mind you, the Gay Community was a fuck-load more closely-knit community then vs the way things are now. I personally knew a sizeable percentage of ALL out queers in the Cape Canaveral area... and they knew me. And we knew who was sick and who wasn't (we didn't even have the term HIV in the mid-80s when I started work there!)

Also: this was the 1980's and 1990's - medicine was still largely "witch-doctory" -- that is, "experiments" were largely "let's try this!" - throw something (EVERYTHING) at it, and see what works - even a little bit! AZT was hardly the first, nor the last failed "other" drug tried against AIDS. Still, they WERE using the "scientific method" (where they could - see above where AIDS patients themselves were destroying/invalidating research!) - try something, prove it's wrong, identify why/where/how it's wrong (to learn from your failure), and try something else... lather, rinse, repeat. (Guess, Test, evaluate, repeat)

Modern medicine isn't perfect, but it's LIGHTYEARS ahead of that! We developed the mRNA vaccines based on DNA sequencing of the virus itself! Technology that wasn't even DREAMED of in 1990! Even so, there was quite a bit of trepidation at giving those early nRNA based COVID-19 shots to humans! It's TRUE that it was tested in ways that short-circuited several safeguards... but, as with the AIDS crisis, when people are dying in large numbers, you "do what you have to do".

Ironic that you want to throw Fauci under-the-bus for AZT, but you have no ill-regard for Trump's touting of crazy COVID-19 theories:

      • β€œSupposing we hit the body with a tremendous – whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful – light,” -- said at a news conference, not while "brainstorming" with scientists...
      • β€œAnd then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside, or almost a cleaning?” - hundreds of US citizens died from injecting or ingesting cleaning fluids as a result of that flippant remark...
      • And let's not forget hydroxychloroquine - an anti-malarial drug, with known serious side-effects... in opposition to the "modern medicine" approach of extracting the viral DNA and perfecting a treatment targeting that DNA, this was more of the old-school "throw anything at it and see what works, even if just a little"... only, in all of the CONTROLLED studies, it rarely worked.(Though it DID work in some cases, which helped them find better TREATMENTS (though, still no CURES) for the disease.) Still, Trump (really, more his supporters - he dropped the idea mostly, it was his supporters who wouldn't/couldn't let it die!) continued to push it - almost like religious "trust me" argument - long past the definitive studies that showed the cost-benefit was sharply skewed towards the COST side...

Mind you: hydroxychloroquine was NOT the unmitigated failure that light (much less, cancer-causing UV light) or IV cleaning supplies were! Its use DID help a few people, and more importantly DID lead to better treatments for CIVID-19 overall... like any good TEST SUBJECT, it wasn't THE ANSWER - but it helped us get CLOSER TO IT!

Once again, you can't condemn a liberal.

BTW, nice Whataboutism, dragging Trump into this topic. Now you can drop the "but I'm a Republican" crap.

LOL - I can't support made-up, or incorrectly focused facts...

If you had the ability to read big words you would know that I most-certainly lambasted Obama above, and ALSO blamed him (at least partly) for the increase in CIVOD-19 cases in Martha's Vineyard...

I literally wrote: Obama was a solipsistic MORON (look up solipsistic if you must... though I'm certain you can relate to the word MORON already)

Once again, I wrote in support of your underlying argument, but decrying your use of hyperbole, misinformation, and fake-facts to make it! (Though, in this case, your numbers weren't made up, they were actually LOWER than the MV health department actually reported... but your characterization of them WAS hyperbolic and mis-appropriated: the COVID-19 cases are for all MV residents, not Obama guests)

I'm sorry you disagree, but I affirm my belief that:

      • I am a Republican - and have been for decades
      • Trump is a RINO, having re-joined the party in 2009 (being a Democrat from 2001-2009)

      @bi4smooth

As an "expert", how many people did Fauci kill in the AZT scandal?

Fauci wasn't "wrong" about GOF research, in the Rand paul exchange. Fauci was/is a liar.

Rand Paul quoted from the official NIH website what GOF research is, he then compared it to what Fauci funded Bill Gate's Eco-Health to do in Wuhan. Only a blatant liar or a crackhead liberal would claim they aren't the same. Fauci said they weren't the same.

For the love of Poseidon, please stop sucking Fauci's ass.

      See a match, shout FIRE!

      I've never supported Fauci unconditionally.

      • I know little about Fauci and AZT in the 1990's - I do know that I had friends literally dying to get added to virtually any cockamamie study they could (replacing your entire blood supply? Using Leukemia treatments? Freezing your body to the point of actual, if short-term death? Yeah - people tried all of these things)... AZT was certainly known not to be a cure, and it had a long list of known side-effects - but it was forced into approval by the newly-minted gay-political-machine - even though CDC and FDA said there wasn't enough known about it's long-term effects.... like the early COVID-19 response, we didn't know SHIT yet.
      • I do know you have a habit of holding people you dislike to modern-day standards, even to their decades-old behaviors and decisions. So, I take your point-of-view with a grain of salt - you can only blame yourself for that...
      • Forget Fauci or Paul - look at what the other scientists have said about the purported GOF research Paul was accusing them of... it didn't match the criteria.

Considering Fauci's word to "be enough" is to make him "an authority" - which I don't believe he is (nor, does he claim to be)... likewise, to assume that an Ophthalmologist (Rand Paul) knows more about genetic research than a department head at the NIH (or, ALL of the department heads at the NIH) is just plain absurd.

There is a reason why Scientific Research is "peer reviewed" prior to being generally accepted, and why some kinds of research get the "peer review" treatment even before the experiments start!

Peer review said that the NIH research in Wuhan was NOT Gain Of Function... that you think Rand Paul (and yourself) have more in-depth knowledge of the subject than the general scientific community (in and outside the NIH) speaks more to your own hubris and self-aggrandizement...

I'm sorry, especially given the scientific community's response to the Paul/Fauci argument about GOF, I think Rand Paul should be embarrassed! (Maybe he is!... privately)

If I become a liberal, I won't need a mask, just ask Pelosi, Schumer, Beetlejuice, and all the rest.

If Nancy doesn't wear a mask and gets (and dies) from COVID-19, then she gets what she deserves. The same as McConnell or Schumer or McCarthy or Paul or Cruz or AOC or "the Squad".... they're all hypocritical elitist politicians who think they're not as "unclean" as the rest of us, and so they aren't as much at risk.

In other words: They're all full of shit!

The difference between you and me is that you see Trumpites as "above it all" - pure and clean... Whereas I see them as just more self-absorbed, power-hungry, NIMBY assholes.

Q: How can you tell a politician is telling the truth?
A: Hah! It was a trick question! Just like roosters don't lay eggs, it just doesn't happen!

Anti-maskers and Anti-vaxers are all stupid, science-ignoring morons who are doing the human species a favor by dying in much higher numbers of COVID-19! (The human gene is getting a little smarter as a result, no?)

It doesn't matter whether the idiots are Dems or Repubicans, Libs or Conservatives, White or Black, Senators or Congressmen... ignore the science, and people die... and maybe that'll be you! (Karma is a bitch, after all!)

The only place in the VAX and MASK argument where my politics comes into play these days is that currently, so many MORE Republicans are dying of this disease - because so many of our own party's leaders are pitching anti-science, "not wearing a mask is a personal freedom issue" bullshit... (I'm looking at you Ted Cruz and Rand Paul!) and while I think the morons who are CREATING and FOLLOWING this advise get what they deserve (sickness, and even death), some of those dying are my idiots - from my party... and I want for there to be fewer idiot-Republicans...

Honestly, I want there to be fewer idiots entirely - but fewer Republican idiots, to be sure!

Yeah, I know my rhetoric is a little harsh here... but COVID-19 is still killing people, and using more gentle language about it won't change that. Mother Nature is neither a Liberal nor a Conservative... but, she is a mean and vengeful bitch when you ignore her!

@raphjd said in Where's the liberal C-19 outrage?!:

According to reports, at least 63 of Obama's birthday party guests got C-19.

Let's not forget how liberal media said that would be exempt from getting C-19 because they are "sophisticated", but I can't go to my corner deli without a mask or 600 trillion people will get it.

One again, you can't help but see a match and scream FIRE!

Obama was a solipsistic MORON for still having the stupid birthday party while Delta was exploding COVID-19 all over again. (Wasn't so unreasonable when it was planned in May, but it got so - extremely unreasonable - by August!)

      That said:

      • The report is that 74 people in Martha's Vineyard tested positive for COVID-19 (that's even more now than you reported),
      • That is not the same as 74 guests of the Obamas.
      • Martha's Vineyard wasn't immune from COVID-19 pre-party, it's just that this was a spike
      • While the official reports are that (according to a Tisbury health agent and boards of health spokesperson) 'At this time we're not aware of any cases connected to the Obama party', this too falls under the "likelihood" cause of Occam's Razor:
Shortly after a huge birthday party, where the host flew in HUNDREDS of people for his magical birthday soiree, there is a spike in COVID-19 infections in MV... could it be that it's just a coincidence? Sure! and it could also be a coincidence that protesters stormed the Capitol on the exact day and time of the Electoral College count... sure, it was just a coincidence! OR maybe, just maybe the obvious causality is actually true, and you just don't want to see it...

To be clear: I join your outrage against the whole giant Obama party in August idea... I just don't share your willingness to distort facts to make things out as worse than they are... the REAL facts are sufficient to make the results of the party tragic and abominable.

BTW: This isn't January, 2021... having a positive COVID-19 test doesn't mean likely hospitalization, or a 1-5% chance of death from the disease. Fully vaccinated people can still CATCH COVID-19, they just won't get AS SICK from it! While it's no excuse, MV residents have a rather high COVID-19 vaccination rate (source)

But let's not mince words: while Obama may have culled the guest list significantly, there were still hundreds of people flying into MV to either attend, or to attend to the bash... that is: guests and workers... To think that none would be COVID-19 positive - even if they did rapid-tests on all of them - is inexcusably stupid!

This is, however, a classic example of how one person's hubris can affect the lives of others around him. Obama, in his hedonistic, self-serving way, failed to follow even simple guidelines (like inviting few-enough guests that social distancing would be reasonable, or requiring masks - of guests and workers - throughout the event)

And while I share your outrage that politicians continue to think that because they write (or enforce) the law, that they are above the law, this is not a liberal/conservative thing... it's a politicians are crooked bastards thing! And the higher up they go, the more they think they are above the law. (Obama is not really different from Trump in this aspect!)

One final point - to the follow-on post:

      • Groping women without their consent is a potentially criminal act
      • Not wearing a mask and not setting a good example is not - no, not even in areas that have "mask mandates" - you don't get arrested solely for not wearing a mask
