I've been reading a large number of articles about P2P and various governments and I must say that Germany is the first EU country to tell the major industries to go screw themselves.

Most other countries have been handing over whatever the music and record industries want and in many cases even allowing them to be a part of police raids. In most countries, this is normally illegal, but some how they manage to get in on the action.  It's also illegal in most countries for police and the gov to actively help in civil matters such as this.

Think about it.  If you wanted to sue your neighbors for not returning your BBQ {outdoor cooking grill}, you will never get the police to raid their house and let you join in. Nor will the police/gov wiretap their phones and internet for you to help you with your civil case.

and they still deny that they are doing this huh?

i'm going to have to move to another country..real soon…cause the US is just assholes about file sharing..

I don't know about the rest, but 1 of the Egyptian cables has had a temp repair with 60% capacity restored.  This is added on top of the one cable that wasn't cut.

They are going to completely replace both the cut cables with the newest fiber optic cables.  According to various sites, the new cables will have 100 times more capacity than the old cables.

Hell, I don't even open annoying chain mails from my mom's bf. And I have firewall set to "Paranoid". Enough said.

if They REALLY want to stop you and look for copyrighted materiel, at least here with Cox (ISP in the West-US) they can only do it if you install their internet suite.  so 1) why would you do that (and to all my fellow americans… stop pushing yes for the damn toolbars.)  2) encrypt your connection. 3)  if you get a note from your ISP check your system and see if you accidentally hit yes to some toolbar/gadget/handy internet device/evil system slowing toolbar/suite 🙂
