Raphjd is trying to use pregnancy figures as a measure of incidence of underage sex and therefore statutory rape. I challenge that assumption because of varying rates of contraception in racial groups. You should either cite a study of actual rates of underage sex or find another crime to make your point.

RE: DOJ report - Ferguson PD
Raphjd
I haven't seen that chart for statutory rape, I saw the big chart that included many crimes. Oddly, that chart still makes my point.
Asians have the lowest underage birth rate, then whites. Whites are less than half of the next lowest group. Blacks have the highest underage birth rate. Arrest/charged rates don't match birth rates.
I don't see how comparing rates for statutory rates and underage pregnancy proves that whites are prosecuted more than blacks for this crime. You assume that all underage sex is unprotected or that the rates of contraception are equal in both groups. Acutually at least one study of underage girls in NYC showed that the pregnancy risk for white girls was 5.4% vs 9.0% in black girls. Taking that into account will eliminate much of the discrepancy you cite. Furthermore, police do not patrol the streets looking for statutory rape victims. This is a self-reported crime and cultural difference may account for some of the difference as well. I suggest you point to another crime category to make your case.

RE: Donald Trump’s Ignorance Is Becoming a National Crisis
obamacare was going to fail eventually anyways since it just wasnt sustainable. either way we need to find something else that works.
Obamacare is failing because the Trump administration is sabotaging it by withdrawing marketplace subsidies and more importantly injecting uncertainty in the market. Insurers hate uncertainty and pull out.

RE: CNN Van Jones ADMITS "RUSSIA is a BIG NOTHING Burger!!!" O'Keefe Strikes AGAIN!
We should all be more careful about how we consume news. We cannot believe everything that comes across our cable TVs or Social media. But labelling one outlet as fake and another as true is a dangerous thing and inhibits critical thinking
Absolutely, in 100% agreement. You should never trust any news that does not present the evidence. "A source familiar with Trump's behavior says…" is an actual phrase used by CNN (which you can google).
That is the importance of documented video evidence in this story.
But if you listen to the Project Veritas video, then you realize its "bombshell" against CNN is a big nothing burger. Van Jones only speeaks for himself, and the health producer has no direct knowledge of editorial policy.

RE: Civility Poll
dindu nuffin.
Was this really necessary, raphjd? I hope you're not suggesting every black person speaks this way because I do not and I don't know anyone who does. Please reconsider these kinds of actions in your future responses. I'm all for free speech, you know this, but that was clearly in poor taste.
Just to be clear, are you saying the phrase "dindu nuffin" is inherently racist?
Yes.

RE: When will Trump do something about Russian hacking?
Ok let's talk substance. What about healthcare, which is quagmired despite controlling both houses of Congress and the White House. Tax Reform? Infrastructure? Aid to the inner cities? Tax returns? News Conferences? Promoting his own properties by visiting them, then raising membership fees? Nepotism? His obsession with his election win? Holding re-election rallies within months of his inauguration? Pick one. I could go on and on.
As to CNN, if the Surgeon General claimed that he knew Trump colluded with Russia, would you believe him? Yet when a minor CNN health producer says that the Russia thing is BS, you latch on and say it is all fake news.

RE: Why Trump Does Not Want the Russia Investigation to Go Away
Trump needs a foil and enjoys portraying himself as a victim. The more time we spend talking about Russia, the less time we will pay attention to how little he has been able to accomplish. Outside of the nomination of Neil Gorsuch, his only accomplishments have been the abandonment of TTP and withdrawing from the Paris accords. Even his travel ban was delayed 5 months and the Supreme Court only allowed it to be partially enforced. That is why, whenever the story simmers down. he stirs up the pot with a tweet.
pointing out that youre being accused of something with no proof by people that would be happy with your death doesnt make you a victim. perhaps if people spent less time with their tin foil hat conspiracies they could talk more about his accomplishments. i dont recall previous presidents being talked about or regarded in such a way that many would happily wish them death. Trump is smart enough not to put himself in a position for another crazy liberal to assassinate him especially when republicans just got attacked.
You guys are tone-deaf. It was Trump who said no president was treated worse. We are just pointing out how ridiculous that is compared to the presidents who were assassinated. No one is wishing that on him. And I guess you think FBI agents line their hats with foil. Trump, by trash-talking all the time prompts a lot of his enemies to respond in kind.

RE: Why Trump Does Not Want the Russia Investigation to Go Away
I'm glad we're still focused on Russia. Now it's all eyes on the Democrats. Loretta Lynch, Susan Rice, Hillary Clinton, Barry Soetoro, and now that Trump has been cleared due to the fake news being exposed, its their turn.
None of those people are president. Hillary has no political future except perhaps as an elder stateswoman. Nobody except you guys care about Loretta Lynch or Susan Rice. So what if Loretta Lynch asked Comey to call it a "matter" or an investigation, or if she met with Bill Clinton on the tarmac. Ans Susan Rice unmasking? If the Obama administration was trying to use intelligence for political purposes, why did they not leak any of it before the election. You are just trying to deflect. And your celebration of Trump's exoneration is premature. Even if he did not collude personally with the Russians, his efforts to cover it up may well get im into serious trouble. If he begins to loose his political base and the Republicans take a whipping in 2018, they will drop him like a hot potato.

RE: When will Trump do something about Russian hacking?
Last week it was revealed that 1.4 million illegals are using stolen social security numbers.
And: "The IRS knows of 2.4 million people a year who file taxes using an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, which is generally given out to immigrants who aren’t authorized to work. But the IRS is not allowed to talk with Homeland Security to help agents identify who and where those taxpayers are."
You guys would know that if you paid attention to the real, actual news.
At least those "illegals" are paying more taxes than Trump ever did.

RE: CNN Van Jones ADMITS "RUSSIA is a BIG NOTHING Burger!!!" O'Keefe Strikes AGAIN!
No, your post about Trump creating a selfie on the cover of Time is fake news. This is real news because it is undercover journalism/ a sting operation where a network who for 8 months claimed that Russia and Trump were in collusion, knew all along that they were lying and creating a dangerous situation where we almost ended up in World War 3 due to their causing tensions between two world powers… for ratings. This is called ESPIONAGE. Nobody cares about your Time selfie story - that isn't news. You clearly must understand the difference, you are just WILLFULLY and DELIBERATELY choosing not to recognize it because of your ego. It's ok, nobody is going to call you stupid for admitting that you were wrong.
The media did not invent the collusion story, the FBI did

RE: When will Trump do something about Russian hacking?
Didn't you already make a post about this? Kinda? Yea? Anyway you obviously only pay attention to the FAKE news, which doesn't report on the REAL news. You see, the real news already reported on what Trump is doing about it:
That was the EO signed by Trump on May 11, 2017 creating an election integrity commission. Now maybe if you would stop paying attention to the fake news and what you want to hear, you would understand what was going on.
The EO is Trump's way of investigating his false claim that 3 million people voted illegally in the past election. It has nothing to do with Russian hacking of the DNC or Podesta's emails. No one maintains that the Russians were able change vote tallies, or voter registration rolls, although they tried. The Russians could give 2 shits about a Presidential Commission.
As or your little sandbox story, you forget that prior to 2016, it was the Republicans that were most hawkish on Russia.Trump won't care about Russian meddling until they go after him. And God help us if they do, because he'll probably try to nuke Moscow.

Van Jones didn't realize he was being recorded, says Russia is a NOTHING BURGER.
Two days of GINORMOUS leaks in a row, CNN YOU ARE FAKE NEWS!!! There's no recovering from this one!
Van Jones is a commentator in CNN and not responsible for any editorial content. He has long been critical of the focus on Russia because it prevents real debate on domestic issues. CNN's response to the Project Veritas Van Jones piece–"LOL"

RE: Donald Trump’s Ignorance Is Becoming a National Crisis
We've already been over your fake 23 million number Sutie. It is false and you have not presented any evidence to show that we should change our mind and believe that you have any idea what you're talking about, and continue to just rehash what you have heard without comprehending it.
Yes. some of those 23 million, perhaps up to half will be people who opt out of buying insurance, but they still do not have insurance. That means if they get sick, they will either pay out of pocket, or more likely, get free care because hospitals cannot ethically and legally turn away sick people. The costs will eventually be passed onto the taxpayers or those with insurance through higher premiums. The Republican healthcare bill simply translates cuts in Medicaid into tax breaks for the very rich (those making >$250,000/yr). #MAGA

RE: Moonbats in mourning.. they are so sad.. Trumpcare will be GREAT!
I agree with Frederick that healthcare costs have gotten out of control, but we have become accustomed to getting the best and latest technology. The major drivers of procedure costs have to do with the equipment used during a procedure. For Lasik, there is the cost of the machine itself as well as associated overhead. http://www.allaboutvision.com/visionsurgery/understand-cost.htm
For heart stents, the procedure uses an X-Ray machine that costs about 2-5 million. There are usually 2 nurses and one radiology tech in the procedure in addition to the physician, and each tiny stent costs about $3000 and often several are needed to keep an artery open. Hospital stays run about $1000 to $2000 a night. The $78,000 price tag is artificially inflated and rarely ever paid. Medicare and most insurances set their maximum fees per procedure and are usually 25-50% of the "list price." This practice dates back about 25 years, when some insurance companies would pay whatever the hospital charges, so they were sure that their bill was never less that what the most generous insurance company was willing to pay.
Actually most insurances these days are heavily managed with referrals, prior authorizations and formulary restrictions and of course, deductibles and co-pays. As for mandating insurance, the idea is to keep down premiums for everyone. Having healthy people in the insurance pool stabilizes the market and avoids exorbitant increases on people with pre-existing conditions. Like Trump said, "Healthcare is complicated.," which explains why Republicans have had such a hard time passing repeal and replace. -
RE: DOJ report - Ferguson PD
You are purposely forgetting that the PD was targeting people of color disporportianately for ticketing.
As I pointed out in my OP. according to FBI stats, whites are nearly all the people who are charged with statutory rape, despite having the 2nd lowest rate of underage pregnancy.
Where are your screams of "oppression of white people"?
Nobody gives a fuck when whites are targeted.
What FBI stats? According to this report from the FBI in 2012, the racial distribution for arrests for statutory rape was very similar to that of the general population:
Do you any other references?
And no one called you a racist. Actually, I do not think you are a racist, you are perhaps something more dangerous–a racism denier. You refuse to admit that racism exists and you see claims about it as unfair attack on whites. Your defense of Ferguson as no more different than . any other city is more of an indictment of American society as a whole.
