    • RE: Duplicated Torrents

      @underlvr:

      … The one thing that made this tracker stand out from the rest, was the strict approval process.  It kept all of the junk out that clutters up other sites.  I mean why not make it a public tracker; no need to keep it private and exclusive because its not anymore. ...

      The Rules, besides the liberated upload rules for collections, have not been changed! The only thing which changes, is that duplicate uploads get visibility. Still I think they are detected and filtered out quite well.

      @underlvr:

      … As a former uploader, I think that it is crap.  Those of us who worked hard to earn and keep our auto-approval status were just thrown under the bus.  ...

      I can understand that view and still wonder about ways to give regular good uploaders recognition.

      @underlvr:

      … My opinion is that this was done primarily to build traffic back to the site after being closed for so long and because not enough moderators returned to help out. ...

      All but two Moderators did return as soon as the site was up again. We had more than ever new uploads per day when the approval process was dropped. Staff resources were not a decisive element. Now running behind duplicates does as much work than before (though I've the impression by giving responsibility to uploader, there are much less duplicates).

      However we have a chronicle shortage of resources  :crazy2:

    • RE: Centralized Freeleech Discussions

      I see what you mean. Indeed Freeleech torrents are without surprise quite popular. Unfortunately many members show a hit and run behaviour on them.

      With well seed, I didn't mean tons of seeder. About 5 should do. There are many older with 5 or more seeder, no leecher for long time.

      It was rather meant as a tip to spend the seed bonus points efficiently. On torrents with only one seed, the download rate can be anything from zero to some mega bytes per second. With a handful of seeds it is more likely to get a decent download rate.

      We promote many older torrents to the top of the list (promoted torrents have the recycle sign ♺),  made freeleech. Often these have no downloader for long times. I hope there is something for any taste.

    • RE: Hi all question

      :welco:

      In short, it is the amount of data you upload divided by the amount of data you download.

      You can read more there > https://www.gaytorrent.ru/rationator.php

      and if you want to be sure to start well, download Freeleech torrents you like and have enough freeleech time left to complete your download. The download doesn't count while a torrent is freeleech, but the upload does.

    • RE: How To: Increase the number of "Allowed Torrents"

      To answer your question:
      It depends on your all time highest average upload rate. Each 20 KBytes/s it is incremented by 1.

      Further explanations on that number:
      It is to be considered when you upload your own new torrent only. It is no longer a rule, it is rather a recommendation. The limit to only one new at a time has been relieved as well. Here the new rule:

      "5. Upload only ONE NEW TORRENT AT A TIME in order to initially seed your upload as fast as possible. If multiple torrents are uploaded, they MUST be completed within 24 hours."

      This means if you ensure all new torrents to be completely uploaded in 24 hours, you can upload multiple at the same time. A single new torrent can take longer. This is to allow uploader with smaller upload rates to upload (bigger torrents), too.

      When no own new torrent is uploaded, there is no limit in the number of uploading torrents.

      The number of downloading torrents depends at any time on your upload, share ratio and user status as indicated in the "Downloading Rules".
      Low ratio warned users are limited to one download at a time.

      Users with download rights suspended can still download a Freeleech torrent.

      That highlights as well that Freeleech points are more efficiently spend when used on well seed torrents, which download can be finished in short time.

      Sorry, I am not sure to get your question, so let me explain how that list is built:

      • It lists the torrents of which you* have completed** to download the files
      • It lists up-to 250 downloads
      • If you have completed more than 250, the more recent are shown

      ** = as sent by the member's torrent client programme

    • RE: Ratio is going down and not staying/going up

      That is exactly what I think happened, because some downloads were finished this night/morning. The only way to compensate is to seed long times.
      Of course the selection of torrents influences a lot the ability to upload data after a download finished, too.

    • RE: Problem loading homepage and pages on this site.

      With that many users effected (see the Home page poll), I'd say it is not the users or a single ISP. I doubt as well that there is a sudden massive movement of ISPs to slow down traffic with our site.

      It can be many things, the site, the site host, ISP inter connections, …

      What I noticed is that if the site is slow, Chrome browser is more effected than the Firefox I usually use.

      There were made some changes this night (system time) and the pages feel faster to me. To be confirmed.

      Using Chrome like you when the pages are slow, I get similar screens of pages not found / time out like in your clip. At the same time, the pages load with Firefox slowly, but they load …

    • RE: Torrents will not seed once downloaded

      OK, what you say confirms that your µTorrent can connect to the tracker ("working") and gets the peer information from it S/L = 17/8.

      The effect for seeing leecher being connected only seldom and for short periods lets assume as most probable cause that your µTorrent is not connectible. That means incomming requests from other peers don't reach it. That makes seeding after the download completed quite difficult.

      That can be tested in µTorrent > Setup Guide … > select the "Network" test only and run the test. The result should be a green check sign, not orange. Please tell us the result.

    • RE: Duplicated Torrents

      Thank you for bringing such discussion up.

      … Any change to make the users take a good look before uploading movies that have already been indexed? ...

      We have not much options here:

      • Send a PM to remind to search (more thoroughly) before uploading

        • Disable uploads of a duplicate uploader going live immediately
        • Give a warning, increment warnings for repeated duplicate uploads

        However, uploaders are the members making this place interesting and how would you fell if getting punished for mistakes on uploading? Therefore currently these options are taken currently quite softly.

        … Also, the constant upload of duplicated torrent makes the brand new FREELEECH option futile. ...

        Members could make a quick duplicate search before downloading or making a torrent Freeleech. If found duplicate, report it. The faster a duplicate is identified, the less harm it will cause. We could make the original Freeleech.  To note that we let duplicate torrents started downloads finish, so Freeleech on them is working, just less members benefit from it.

        Please give your opinions, especially uploader views are welcome.

      Yes, it is a flat 0.5 points per hour seeding.

      Other calculation schemes were proposed and discussed frequently. They are considered, but no change is scheduled right now (though I know the owner likes to improve it).

    • RE: I can't download any torrent

      You could try another browser (Firefox, Chrome, Opera, …) or try a reset of IE9:

      1. Open Control Panel
      2. Switch to either Large Icon or Small Icon View (because nobody really actually likes the category view lol)
      3. Click "Internet Options"
      4. Click the "Advanced" tab (I think it is)
      5. Click "Reset Internet Explorer"
      6. When the box appears asking if you're sure you want to reset Internet Explorer to the default settings, click "Yes"

      *NOTE: When using this option, this will unfortunately reset ALL of Internet Explorer's settings back to the factory default that it comes with when it is first installed. This however is unfortunately the only way of resolving such issues with this update.

      @Dax:

      It is clear from all the reports that the problem is not specific to any geographic location, internet provider, type of connection, operating system or web browser. …

      Sorry, I disagree with that, because we have as well reports that things are working fine … , look just at the posts of junior, AndyZ , me, ...

      However there IS an issue, while most of the time page loading is correct for me, sometimes it is slower than it used to be, but still faster than other users report (e.g. no time outs for me).

    • RE: Many Leechers but rarely seeding from my (Transmission (Mac)) torrent???

      In my opinion it is because the torrent you currently seed got only 2 (!) real leecher. The others have downloaded only the movie file, but not the picture files. Therefore they appear still as leecher, though in reality, they seed the movie file.
