    • RE: Centralized Freeleech Discussions

      I see  🙂

      Actually it are the sponsors making a torrent Freeleech which are generous. Perhaps there are building-up small communities of same interest (e.g. from the Forum Special Interest Groups) to combine the points for common free download.

      Hopefully the freelecher will stay seeding and don't develop a hit & run mentality.

      The exchange rate may change, depending on the success of the Freeleech.

      They will be Freeleech only for a limited duration. As per now, all members can make any torrent Freeleech. The number of Seed Bonus Points depends on file size and Freeleech duration.

      Once a torrent is Freeleech, it is Freeleech for all.

      ATTENTION: When a torrent is still leeched once the Freeleech expires, download will count again to the account statistics.

      At the moment there isn't yet a way to sort by Freeleech duration.

      @bolero:

      Would it be possible to put this information on the welcome page?  :love:

      From our Home page:

      2012-12-28 - FREELEECH  Today we added support for freeleech torrents. At the moment just a few torrents where picked for testing. If you have any questions or feedback please feel free to contact us at the Helpdesk.

      This was already present before 09:30 system time and when I made my earlier reply. Other information (FAQ, bonus point exchange) will be updated once available on the site …

      Could someone with download rights taken test to download a freeleech torrent, please?

    • RE: Centralized Freeleech Discussions

      The download doesn't count, the upload is counted. So yes, freeleech torrents are a good way to improve the share ratio.

      Currently only the tracker has been upgraded to support freeleech and 50 torrents are set manually to freeleech. We need users testing it and feedback if it works correctly or if there are issues.

      It is planned as next steps to have an automatic freeleech on some torrents following some criteria (basically promoting old still seed torrents) as well as the possibility to exchange seedbonus points for making a torrent freelecch for a certain time. Details are under discussion and likely adjustments are made once seen the real effects and dynamics of the freeleech.

      Some uploader have a real great share ratio and don't need the seed bonus points for ratio, so they could spend their points to make ("their") torrents more attractive.

      @andy32:

      …

      • Maybe a differentiation between basic and additional information (e.g. different font, frame, labeling tips as such, …) might make the guide better readable. Uploading a new torrent is easier then many think and it would be great if the Upload Guide reflects that.

      …

      Perhaps the guide should just be this:

      First, create the .torrent file in you favourite programme for torrents. Use http://tracker.gaytorrent.ru:2710/announce as tracker URL and set not to start seeding immediately. Consult the client's manual in case of questions/problems.

      Then browse the "Upload" page (menu on top of the page), click "I have read and understand". Then fill the web form step by step, start to select the category, upload pictures and specify some basic information like the name to be displayed and a comment. Only fields with a red star "*" are mandatory. Then select the .torrent file and click "Do it!" to upload the torrent file.

      After uploading the torrent you created, you'll be lead to the created description page and must download the .torrent file containing the announce-URL with your personal secrete passkey. Otherwise your won't be able to seed! Detailed instructions are given on the upload page.

      Now open the .torrent file (the one you downloaded, not the one you created!) in your programme for torrents. Typically it will show a window to confirm the download location: direct it to the file(s) from which you created the torrent. The programme will check the files integrity, which may take some time, and then contact the tracker.

      More seriously, I've difficulties to imagine how to structure that more. Main steps got a box. Paragraphs separated by line(s), key words and buttons are bold, links yellow bold, remarks in italics …

      @andy32:

      …

      • A screenshot depicting a perfect upload would be perfect (Including covers, pictures, thumbnails, date of production, cast, description, filetype, resolution, fps, audio, tags …) might increase the quality of torrents.

      …

      That is planned to be a Guide on its own "Make Good Descriptions"

      @andy32:

      …

      …

      Hmm, I am not sure to understand this right. Usually it takes more than 30 seconds to re-download the torrent file, run a re-check and start seeding.

      However your point brings me to another thing, which may be irretationg for first time uploaders: There is a delay between the torrent client programme / tracker on one side and the GayTorrent;ru web page on the other side. It can take a few minutes until a torrent shown "Seeding"with "working" tracker feedback in the torrent client is shown with 1 Seeder on the web page in "Browse", "Search" and the description page.

      I've to think how to say this in a remark or the instructions.

    • RE: Upload guide for qBittorrent

      Start seeding must NOT be ticked, because it would start seeding the torrent before having uploaded it, i.e. with the wrong tracker URL without passkey.

      As to the "Private" box, it is better to tick, so that the created torrent will have the same hash than the later re-downloaded. Changing that setting changers the hash, changing the tracker doesn't change the hash.

    • RE: New Upload Guide Discussions

      @agis: You are right, if everything is done correctly in the step 4.0, it doesn't matter if the torrent was set to private tracker or not. Even the tracker URL doesn't matter, as long as there was a valid URL.

      This is due to the fact that GayTorrent modifies the .torrent file which is re-downloaded with the right tracker setting and the right tracker URL, including adding the personal secrete passkey.

      However, both settings given have some advantages in the case step 4.0 isn't mastered correctly in helping / solving issues with the uploader:

      • if that URL is used and the not re-downloaded torrent, there is still a connection to the tracker, which will return "unregistered torrent pass" so we will know from that the passkey is missing and a connection to the tracker is possible

      • a public torrent and a private torrent will have another hash, so if the not re-download torrent got seed, without "Private" the re-downloaded will add an additional torrent in the list with need to right file pointing. When it was set to private, it should be enough to confirm to load the tracker URL to the existing seed.

      @misiekblue: Ahh, yes. If there will be no more important things left, the tagging will be programmed into the site. You might have seen that we prepare for multiple categories per torrent, too.

      Sorry, that goes a little off topic.

    • Loosened Upload Rules for Collections

      The Upload Rules for Collections have been loosened on the 9th of December 2012.

      • No more limit in number of files

        • No more limit in size
        • Duplicates inside allowed

        In short, everything is possible to upload unless it is prohibited content.

        Despite this has been announced on the Home page, only a minority of Collection torrents fulfil the new minimum requirements …

        Loosened Collection Requirements as of 2012-12-09:
        [box]A COLLECTION is a group of files that have a well-defined common theme.

        • The Title must specify the theme and the degree of completeness (all videos from 2010-2011; full site rip or complete as of a specific month/year; videos from a studio or featuring an actor; numerical series 100-200, 301-499; alphabetical listings of A-C, D-F; random clips of a particular porn category; etc).
        • The description must contain a list of any video files or titles including their formats and file sizes, by at least copy/paste the torrent’s file list. Please list video files and titles available through other existing torrents with links to their descriptions.
        • A collection may overlap with another collection if it has a different central theme. For example, a collection may include a studio series from #201 to #239; with some duplicate files found in a collection about a specific actor; or a resubmission of a site rip after 3 months in order to keep it updated.
          [/box]

        It seems especially the indication of the well defined common theme and the degree of completeness causes difficulties to uploader.

        However even the simple copy/paste of the video/titles from the torrent's file list into the description isn't provided in the majority of cases. Linked to that are serious doubts if the same videos/titles aren't shared by other torrents already, because without list, no link either.

        This situation must improve!

        Therefore I am thinking of a bonus point programme for good collection titles and descriptions …

      @geographer:

      … Now because GT.ru moderators work on a volunteer basis and their activity on the site depends on their free time, no-one can give you a precise time limit until your torrent will be approved. You can help out the moderators to speed up the approval by making sure your torrent follows all rules. Open your torrent's page again and take a closer look to adjust your possible mistakes.

      Another important factor in approval is the number of allowed active torrents you can have from our site. If you uploaded a torrent, but have seeding and/or leeching a number of torrents beyond your allowed number, your torrent won't be approved until you stop all other torrents beyond that limit. In order to find out what's your allowed number of active torrents, open your profile page (click on your nickname next to "Welcome back" on the top left corner of the page). There you will notice a green number, next to Allowed Torrents. For example: your uploaded torrent always counts as 1 active torrent. If your number shows 1, that means you are allowed to have active only your uploaded torrent. If that number shows 2, you can have an additional active torrent (either seeding or leeching) and so on.

      Note: When we say active torrents in your torrent client, we, of course, mean torrents from our site. The rest doesn't affect us. Still, if you want to assure a higher upload speed directed to your upload, it is advisable to stop all other torrents, regardless of their origin.

      If you have completed all these requirements, all you need to do now is wait patiently until your torrent will be approved. When that happens, you will receive a personal message (PM). If your torrent is good for approval, but still requires some minor adjustments, you will be informed about this by a moderator via a PM. Read this PM thoroughly and follow the directions exactly. If you have some questions, feel free to ask back the moderator.
      …

      This needs a major touch-up because of the torrents going live immediately and the change in allowed torrents rule. That is valid for all existing Guides written before these changes.

      geographer: I think the best option is to eliminate this step completely

      ….  If you do so, your torrent will appear as seeding in qBittorrent, but on our tracker it will be listed as inactive (or dead), and you can wait for days your torrent's approval without any success or without receiving any notes from the staff. To explain it concisely: the torrent file you created is "virginally" clean, it doesn't contain the necessary info to link the data you want to share to your profile on the site. This is done through the passkey system, which needs to be embedded in your torrent, before it is ready to seed.

      Du bist in zwei Fallen getappt.

      Die erste ist GayTorrent.ru hausgemacht. "Most wanted Torrents" auf der Home Seite müsste besser "Most Popular Torrents" heißen, da die meisten die Dateien schon vollständig haben. Die Liste auf der Home Seite taugt nicht zum verbessern der Ratio.

      Die zweite sind Torrents mit mehreren Dateien, insbesondere wenn einige nur Bilder und Beschreibung sind. Einige Downloader wählen nur bestimmte Dateien, z.B. den Film. Da nur Peers die alle Dateien haben Seeds sind, erscheinen die dann als Leecher, obwohl sie die Datei(en) die sie haben seeden.

      In kurz, bei dem Torrent wirst Du nichts hochladen, außer ein neuer Downloader erscheint.
