      @TerryG:

      …
      Why is the gaytorrent.ru dashboard suddenly giving me a smaller number for the files I am seeding?
      ...

      I've no explanation for that. Can you look if some of your seeding torrents are queued?

      @TerryG:

      …
      Is my daily seed bonus being calculated on 23 or 37?
      ...

      Neither nor. It is calculated on the fact that you seed at least one torrent. It is a flat 0.5 seed bonus points per hour, not per torrent.

      Maybe we should publish the previous Rationator 3.0 system as a curve to illustrate the improvement … ?

      OK, I've just created the curve for Rationator 3.0 and am now confused. It looks quite similar to the new Rationator 4.0 curve. Where is the improvement?

    • RE: Why did my ratio go down?

      @allyigator:

      About an hour ago, my ratio was 0.441, now it's 0.436. Despite me uploading 4 torrents, 2 of which are freeleech.

      Also, why is it that ever since I've been on this site, I seed torrents that the site claims have tons of leechers, yet I see no upload activity and don't get credited for any?

      Is it that all of the leechers have been compensated?

      I am so thoroughly confused.

      That are torrents with multiple files. A seed can only be a peer who got all files. The torrent protocol knows only seeds and other peers (aka leecher). Therefore peers who have not downloaded all files and seed what they got are still appearing as leecher.

      In your case, these are the small picture files which were deselected from the download by quite a number of peers.

      The equivalent to right click on Mac is Ctrl+click … as for applications, it depends which things you like to do.

      For video playback, you might want Perian (what is LAV for Windows) > http://www.perian.org/ or VLC

      For torrenting, either µTorrent, Transmission or Vuze

      For office applications serious user use Microsoft Office, or if you are occasional user Libre Office

      For video encoding, I can recommend Handbrake, don't know a good video editor  :afr:

      and then there is the Adobe CS (if you can effort to pay it …)

      If you know a file has been removed due to a DMCA Takedown Notice, don't reupload it. That will most likely only lead to another takedown notice and upset the copyright owner or his authorised agent(s).

      Here the extract of the corresponding part of the GayTorrent.ru rules:

      "…  Users may not use this site to distribute any material when they do not have the legal right to do so. It is the responsibility of each user to adhere to these terms. ..."

      and

      '... We have a policy of terminating, without notice and without recourse, accounts of users who are repeat infringers of site policies, based on our sole judgment of suspicion or notification we may receive. ..."

      pour lequel sur la page il y a marqué qu'il y a un seeder alors que utorrent ne le trouve pas
      est-ce que ça ne veut tout simplement pas dire que le seeder n'est pas connecté ?

      Justement, le seule seeder est pas conectable soit même. Si seeder est leecher sont pas connectable, aucun téléchargement est possible. Par contre dés que un est connectable, l'autre peut lui envoyer une demande ou offre, donc la communication devient possible, mais reste difficile.

      Maintenant que vous êtes connectable, vous pouvez faire la pond entre le seeder et  barbarian13 (son NAS n'est pas connectable, non plus)

    • RE: Impossible démarrer download

      Votre µTorrent n'est pas connectable. Ceci explique les difficultés.

      Essayez le suivant:

      1/ Activer le renvoie des ports UPnP et la exception par-feu du Windows dans les préférences de connexion du µTorrent
      2/ Redémarrer µTorrent

      3/ Tester si ça a changé quelque chose µTorrent > Options > Setup Guide > sélectionnez le "Network" test. Le résulta doit être un marque bon en vert et non en jaune/orange

      4/ Si pas bon, redémarrez votre box, puis quand l'internet est revenu, redémarrez µTorrent

      5/ Tester encore si bon

      6/ Si pas bon, regarder au coté de votre logiciel anti-virus. Il doit avoir une exception pour des connexion entrants pour le port de connexion de µTorrent. désolé, là je peut pas aider, il y a trop des anti-virus différents …

      NB.: Bien sur votre box doit avoir le UPnP activé, aussi, ce qui est le cas par défaut.

      If you still use Windows XP, you need to install a UDF 2.5 Reader (driver) to read "discs" in the Bluray Disc file format.

      I think you got two possible work around:

      1/ uninstall QTM and reinstall it into a not system directory (by default it is installed into the protected "Program files" or "Program files x86" directory and that works with Windows Vista or 7.Not sure if that helps, QTM might try to save the .torrent file into a protected user directory

      2/ Right mouse button click on QTM and select "Run as administrator", that is a special system account with more elevated rights and a user account with Administrator right (!) …

    • RE: Looking Series 1

      Yes, that falls under the mainstream TV channel production ban. It is allowed to discuss this TV series in this topic though, you can as well name the places where it is available, but please without  live links (though live links are permitted now).

      GayTorrent.ru does not want to become a site referring direct download links. There are already many such sites and blogs available in the web.

      Seems to be a good series, seen the frequent with which we have to remove torrents for it.

    • RE: Too Many Un-seeded New Files

      The Torrent Moderators have as first priority task to help uploaders of unseed new torrents to get them seed.

      Unfortunately not with a high success rate. Despite the efforts, we "loose" about 1/3 of all uploads as never being seed. There are only very few new torrents which are started to be seed, but then not completed. These less than 1% have a very special follow-up.

      So those members who try to upload, but don't get it seed at all, at least try to upload and don't do much harm (a .torrent file deducted from the daily limit of member who should be aware that he risk the seeding won't start), which is more than the majority of members do. GayTorrent.ru is set-up in a way that many members who won't upload on other trackers will try it here for the first time, so we must try to teach them how that works.

      Members could help in this task by making pictured upload guides for different torrent clients. For example Transmission on Mac OSX or GNU/Linux, or again Vuze with Mac OSX or GNU Linux etc …

      To a technical point in your post, "0 (1)" in seeds in your torrent client means there is one seed, but your torrent client isn't connected to it. "0 (0)" can appear if the torrent is queued, not started, i.e. doesn't get peers information from the GayTorrent.ru tracker or it is not seed at all.

      I've looked through the torrents you currently download:

      • 3 seem to download normal

        • 2 are uploaded by a member not stopping to add new torrents before having completed the upload of the previous. In addition not seed 24/7. He has been ask to stop adding new until the others upload is completed. Clearly that member miss the 24 hours rule when uploading more than 1 new torrent
        • 1 is an old torrent seed only by a single member seeding hundreds of other torrents and it is difficult to get a connection to his client having other torrents in higher priority. However, he really seeds them and you can eventually complete the download.
        • 1 is an old recycled, which had a seeder at the moment of promotion, but this seed stopped. It can get back any time.
        • 1 only is a new torrent not seed at the moment. Here the case of being partially seed 0.7%, which looks like a wrong seeding priority setting of the uploaders torrent client programme.

        –---

        Finally I think none of the uploaders of the torrent make it not to seed it, in opposite i think they did love to get it seed.

    • RE: Freeleeching a 1GB file- How to ?

      A torrent needs to have an "age" of at least 7 days to be possible to be made Freeleech. That refers to the date/time in the "Added" information.

      So it is not possible to make a new upload Freeleech right away and believe it or not, we Moderators can't make a torrent freeleech during that time either.  :blownose:

    • RE: Bad ratio not possible

      Actually the difficulty here is inherent to the way the tracking of upload/download works and the reason why we can't cut clean between download during the free period and after the clean period.

      The tracker adds up the reports (called in bit torrent slang "announcements") from the peers torrent client:

      • A first announcing to have joint the swarm, so that the tracker can give the IP to the other peers at their respective announcements. Of course the reported UL and DL at that first announce is zero.

        • From then each 30 minutes (this is our tracker setting, other trackers may ask for different intervals, but 30 minutes ius a quite common setting) it reports to the tracker the UL and DL, and gets back from the tracker the available peers. The countdown to the next announcement can be seen in the torrent client. E.g. µTorrent > "Trackers" tab > "Update in" column.
        • When the client finish the download, it makes an announcement out of order
        • If the torrent is stopped (not just paused), the client makes an announcement, too.

        So all depends on the moments of these reports:

        • All downloads announced during the free period won't count on freeleech torrents.
        • All downloads announced after the free period will be counted. This includes the download since the last announcement in the freeleech period and therefore a part of the free download.

        Therefore the to make sure no download is count, the download needs to be finished within the free period.

        To avoid that "free" download is count, because reported after the free period, a possible method is to stop the torrent just before the end of the free time, which will generate an out of order report to the tracker.

        I try here below to show this with a timeline on canonmc's question / example:

        end of DL ->|
             |<-30min.->|      end of free time->| |
        …---|----------|----------|----------|----------|---...
             |  55 MB   |  60 MB   |  55 MB   |  | |
                                      20 MB ->|  |<-
                                               ->| |<- 10 MB

        In above timeline example, three of the 30 minutes interval downloads happen fully during the free period with 55, 60 and another 55 MB of download, a total of 170 MB

        During the next 30 minutes interval, the free time ends and until it 20 MB were downloaded. Then after another 10 MB download, it is completed, total download 200 MB. At the moment of completing, the torrent client reports the download since the last announcement, the 20 MB plus the 10 MB = 30 MB.

        So in the above example 170 MB were free and 30 MB were counted by the tracker as download.
