    • RE: Reputation Power

Reputation Power is a notion about your forum activity, it says nothing about your torrent activity. It doesn't give any benefit other than the honour of having a good reputation.

It increases with the number of topics and forum posts you create (sorry, I don't know the key) and can be increased or decreased by other members liking or disliking your posts if they click on the heart symbol bottom left in the post side panel. the higher the voters Reputation Power the higher the impact of his like / dislike to your reputation.

A member can not vote on the same user in a row and there is a minimum waiting time to vote on the same member again "Spread your love" says the related failure message.

That is the second time in two days I see that question, so perhaps I'll dig to find how it is exactly calculated …

    • RE: My torrent says my file is seeding but it isn't…

      That can have many reasons:

      • No leecher (downloading peer)
      • Torrent client not connectible
      • …

Look for the status under the "Trackers" tab (µTorrent or BitTorrent) or in the torrent's details view.

I've corrected that for you. All accounts statistics are merged into this account.

Rather than spending your efforts on creating multiple accounts, you should work to improve your share ratio. Ways are indicated on our "Rationator" page > https://www.gaytorrent.ru/rationator.php , which you reach by clicking on your ratio below the blue menu band.

If you have loaded torrents and they show an "unregistered torrent pass" failure, copy the tracker announce URL from your Profile into the torrent's properties.

      @TDBare:

      …
I have downloaded the entire version of each of the 6 torrents.

Does the tracker support the torrent program Deluge for seeding?
      …

Yes, our tracker supports Deluge. Unfortunately while I look, you never seed. So I'll need to wait tomorrow to see if your SBP counter changed. You can look for the tracker status in Deluge and if you see them as seeding on your Profile page.

      @TDBare:

      …
Side question: How do I go about posing a change to this policy so that it is per torrent? I ask, because I seem to download unpopular torrents, and am usually flirting with the ratio.

There is the board "Suggestions & Site Feature Requests" > https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?board=144.0 with already some topics about that subject. You can add your request to the most fitting.

The current system giving full bonus points already for one torrent is advantageous for new users having got only one or few torrents to seed.

Changing it to a per torrent system would require less per torrent and a non linear attribution, e.g. times the square root of torrent seed. The seed bonus must remain a bonus system and not replace real uploads of data.

The average of torrents seed per seeding members is around 50. At this moment  476055 seeds by 9572 members > 49.7 seeds/member. With linear attribution of the current 0.5 bonus points per hour but per torrent it would mean 25 SBP for an average seeder corresponding to 121 KBytes/s upload rate. That is more than a normal ADSL user will have.

Or the exchanged SBP would mean an upload rate of all members together of about 1 135 MBytes/s, which is to compare to the 265 MBytes/s of real upload registred at this moment by the tracker. The current system generates about 23 KBytes/s or about 8% of that real upload rate.

    • RE: Site Showing as Leeching while seeding

      Starting with the more obvious:

      • The computer must run and been connected to the internet
      • The torrent client must run
      • The torrent must be started, not just queued

      The less obvious:

      • A seeder must have all files of the torrent's file list. Else it will be still counted as downloading peer, with of course uploaded data counted towards the accounts upload. My suggestion would be if some small files like pictures are missing, download them to get all.

      and a final remark:

      • Seed Bonus is flat 0.5 points per hour, not per torrent

First thing to try is to close QTM and try again.

If that doesn't help, clear cookies and cache in both Internet Explorer and your default web browser.

      Then try again.

With restarted, you mean restarted the computer. If not try that. I am still thinking what to try next …

      Update:
With that change of ISP, did you change the internet security suite, i.e. to the ISP bundle including Norton?

With the changed DNS setting, can you retry the ping, what does it give? Still time out?

    • RE: Finding peers for hours

So we can exclude a µTorrent configuration issue and have to look to the DNS (domain name server setting and resolution)

Can you try to change the DNS setting in your internet connection property settings (IP4) to another DNS than the automatic.

For example Googles DNS 8.8.8.8 (or 8.8.4.4) or the OpenDNS. On OpenDNS you'll find how to do that for different type of operating systems.

If that doesn't help, two other areas to look at:

      • Anti-virus / parental control / internet security suite
      • "hosts" file (though you are a new user and shouldn't have made any entry for gaytorrent there …)

    • RE: Unsuccessful attempts at seeding uploads

It was the word "no avail.", which sounds like you've got no answer at all and puts the effort of the team in a wrong light.

Getting the first own upload running can be a big headache indeed. You should not feel stupid. It took me multiple attempts and days to get my first own torrent seeding many years ago (on another tracker). At least you ask for help, instead of giving up right away without asking, something we see on more than 50 torrents each day 😞

We could join in the IRC chat on a private channel, if you use our AJAX client to go there "Chat" in the blue menu band. Then the AJAX client button.

    • RE: Unsuccessful attempts at seeding uploads

When the forced recheck fails once after a redirection of the download, it becomes difficult (next to impossible) to set the downloading directory correctly.

The best is to remove the torrent from µTorrent, but not the data files and to re-add it then after.

Before re-adding, set in µTorrent's preferences for UI settings to show a window which displays the files in the torrent, when adding a torrent (the exact wording of that option differs slightly).

Then when you add a torrent, there will be a small window. There aside the path to the download location is a button "[. . .]", click it and navigate to the directory/folder which contains the movie file and then "Save". It is important to select the folder, not the file itself.

Then run a forced re-check if the check doesn't start automatically. Start the torrent.

I find it unfair to say "… I have tried communicating with the help staff to no avail." when I can see that you've got n answer indicating the steps to follow within an hour after asking. If that answer didn't succeed, you need to follow-up with the answering moderator.

Can you try to "ping" our tracker, please.

Windows Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Comand Prompt > type "ping tracker.gaytorrent.tw" in the black window that opens and then hit "Enter" on your keyboard.

      Then repeat with tracker.gaytorrent.ru

      What does it say?

"Offline ( …)" means your µTorrent can't connect to the tracker. Now we need to find the reason.

Are you using torrents for other trackers and are those downloading? If yes, we can exclude the ISP doing a port and torrent protocol blocking.

did you do as well the following setting:
Tools –> Options...  --> Queue --> Seeding --> Auto Starting --> Auto Start all completed torrents with 0 peers selected in my options.

With all these they should start, but of course uploading actual data will depend on the connection to downloading peers.
