The cop was in a gay chat room; the other guy was from a gay hookup site. The cop was open about his situation from the beginning; the other guy only said he wanted to "give oral" and then hit me with the camera thing when I got there. Same here. Somehow asking for proof of vaccination and a recent covid test seems like a mood-breaker, even if it is just a hookup.

There's "gay for pay," and "gay for play." I use the latter category to describe guys who are emotionally/psychologically attracted to women, but enjoy the physical sensation of sex with guys. Such as:

1. One buddy of mine is a police officer (who would sometimes show up in uniform, although that's not a fetish of mine). He's married, has a couple of kids, but enjoys getting fucked. 2. Another guy I met a few times (at his place) was also married, but he wanted to suck cock. This seemed a bit weird, but he definitely knew what he was doing, so I was fine with it. Good point--I think I was on autopilot when I typed this. Deleting torrent + data is my default when cleaning out my torrent data folder after I've archived any downloads to another location. In the case of a "stillborn" torrent, there wouldn't have been any data so nothing was lost.

On a related note, a couple of days ago I had another one of these "won't start" torrents. I was reluctant to delete it and start over as I had carefully selected about 10% of the many files for downloading, and I didn't want to do that over again. I let things be, and after two days or so the torrent started up and I got the stuff I wanted. That's a longer delay than usual, but patience paid off.

I use uTorrent with Windows 10: I right-click on the torrent in the client listing, and select "Remove and delete torrent + data." Then I'll download the torrent again and start over.

With other torrent clients and/or a Mac, it's probably similar, but perhaps another user can weigh in if this doesn't work for you.

I've had this happen a few times. Often it fix itself in a while (maybe an hour or two) and start seeding. Other times, I've deleted the torrent and then downloaded it again and it works fine.

@kulmel36 If you didn't choose to download all of the files in the torrent (i.e., if you de-selected some that you didn't want), that tracker software will consider you to be leeching the torrent even though you have downloaded the bits that you want. This will take up one of your download slots. There's no way around this other than to remove this torrent from your active torrent list, but that also means that you won't be able to seed to other users and get credit for that.

The peers are other users who are seeding the torrent. In some way that I don't fully understand, your torrent client negotiates with the tracker (at gaytor.rent) and hooks you up with other seeders. You won't necessarily be connected with every other seeder. I don't know if there's a way to get the tracker to connect you to more seeders...perhaps another user can chime in.

If the torrent uploader neglected to include a folder of thumbnails/previews, there's no way to get that out of the system. You might add a comment to the torrent page like, "Thank you for sharing your material. It would be more useful to members if you included a folder of thumbnails/previews. There is good software for doing this available at https://funk.eu/amt/ ."

How to download just one file from many in a torrent? This depends on what torrent client (software) you're using. I use uTorrent; when I open a torrent file it gives me a list of all the files available in the torrent, and I can tick/untick a box next to each file. Other torrent clients are probably similar. I find that if I download only a part of large collection of files, I will seed that material very quickly, and it helps my ratio. One thing to remember, though, is that even if you complete the download of your selected files, the system will still consider you as a leecher on that torrent--and this can be a problem if you have a small limit on the number of torrents that you can have downloading at once. You can find your limit of downloaded torrents by going to https://www.gaytor.rent/rules.php#96.

How to know which file to download from a collection with non-descriptive file names? This is often a problem. A good torrent uploader will include a folder of thumbnail images from the videos in the torrent. This is very easy to do, but many uploaders don't do it. I share your frustration. Sometimes I'll download just a few files (usually the smaller ones) to see if the material is something I like.

@ichbins I suggest that you check the torrent listing frequently, and download a freeleech torrent when it appears--especially one that shows a lot of leechers. Even if it's not something that you want to keep, you will get upload credit for whatever you seed.

There's probably somebody who thinks that all upscaling is bad--which isn't strictly the case. Using simple software to increase the resolution of a video file won't improve the quality, and just makes the file larger. Many people have done this, falsely claiming to have converted the file to HD.

On the other hand, there is some very sophisticated software that can make some improvement to the quality of a file when increasing the resolution. If the uploader has done this, they do indeed merit our thanks. While a 20-year-old file cannot be made to look like a current HD file, it can look a bit better.

I suspect that the one-star rater assumes that the uploader just increased the resolution without any quality improvement (which is the case with most upscales). Blowing up a file with no benefit deserves a low rating, but unless somebody has downloaded the material and compared it to a lower-resolution original, s/he's not going to know whether it's a "good" upscale or a "bad" one. It would be nice if the torrent page software only permitted rating by people who have completed a download of all the material, but that sounds like a massive software headache.
