@serenity said in A question about DMCA takedowns:

what videos that are okay to upload.

I think it's "okay" to upload anything that satisfies the site's rules (https://www.gaytor.rent/rules.php#102) and isn't banned (https://www.gaytor.rent/notallowed.php), although it might go away very quickly.

That said, it's a lot of work for moderators to get a takedown request, verify it, and then delete the torrent. I would understand if they were to say, "Don't upload stuff from <some studio>.com, because it creates a hassle for us." Thus far, though, they haven't done that.

@Rotron said in Can a ratio be too high?:

my goal is only a ratio of 1:1 per torrent that I upload

As a fine point, you'll always get a ratio of at least 1.0 with a torrent that you upload, because you have to send every piece of that file to somebody. I find that I usually have a ratio of 1.3 or so by the time my uploaded torrents are fully seeded, because some pieces will have been sent out to more than one member.

I still do get some encouragement from individuals who would send me a PM here or comment on my torrent posts

I'm happy to hear this. A written comment on a torrent post is so much more rewarding than clicking "thank you" on the torrent page. Even if that doesn't happen, I take satisfaction in seeing how many people have downloaded the material. I hope you are able to take satisfaction in this and know that your contributions to the site are appreciated.

    • RE: "Healthy at any size" vs C-19

@anythingold I agree with what you're saying. My posting was a bit tangled up because there are several issues going on here:

      1. The OP said, "Despite what we've been told for the last 15 years, being obese is not healthy." I don't think that's been the message, but there has been a greater consciousness that overweight/obese people still deserve ordinary human respect, and media stereotypes that women should look anorexic are counter to that.
      2. The article's purported link between being overweight and COVID death rates is not the result of a study--it's anecdotal at best, and skewed because of national policy phenomena.
      3. The article is also sloppy in shifting terminology from the initial mention of "overweight" to "obese."

Bottom line: Yes, indeed it is complicated, but many people crave simple solutions to complicated problems. The best we can do is follow the current cutting-edge medical advice to protect our own health and the health of others. I've had my two Moderna jabs...and while I'd rather have other things stuck into my body, it's still a good feeling.

    • RE: AAB, Condom to bareback, back to condom

Very astute observation! I would love to know the back story here, which is likely edited out from the final. It's not unusual for a condom to break, but that's at the tip. It would seem that in the bareback scene the condom would have to have been consciously removed (or the guy went soft and it slipped off), which would have been noticed by the director and/or camera people.

I wonder if AAB--and perhaps other studios--that only release "safe" scenes would allow their models to fuck bare before and/or during the scene, and just not have that on the released video. I have a couple of friends who used to be in "the industry," but with bare-only studios. I'll still ask.

    • Disappearing torrent

About three weeks ago I uploaded a six-minute "hidden locker room" clip, probably taken at some college or city sports club. It now shows as "unregistered," but I didn't get a message from a moderator claiming DMCA or some other rules violation. All of the guys in the clip were definitely 18+, so I don't think that was the reason--and if it were, I would have expected a justifiably firm message.

I'm not complaining about the removal--the site does what the site does, and I accept that...and several hundred members snatched the clip. But I'm curious to know if there's a rule I violated so I don't do it again. I can't give a URL for the torrent because it's gone, but I can say that it was uploaded on 16 October, early afternoon Eastern US time.

      Thanks!

@ianfontinell-0 said in I've destroyed my ratio:

you can still contribute to other peers with the pieces you have.

...and this is an excellent way of getting a lot of upload traffic. For example, I downloaded about 1% of a 30 GB torrent a couple of weeks ago, and my ratio on that torrent alone is now over 39. I should probably archive or delete that one so that others can get upload traffic from it.

    • RE: Vanishing torrents ...

@krad3434 One way to help a ratio is to download a new torrent and then select only a few (maybe 10% by volume) of the files to actually be downloaded to your computer. (This is easy to do with uTorrent by unticking boxes; it's probably similar with other clients.)

This way you'll be among the first to get that material, and then be a "source" for other downloaders who are likely trying to grab all the files. It also increases the probability that you'll be left with something playable if the torrent is taken down quickly.

The only disadvantage to this strategy is that a torrent for which you haven't downloaded all the files will still take up one of your download slots, even if you have all the stuff that you selected. After the initial surge of people downloading from that torrent, you might want to delete it if you have a small number of allowable slots.

    • RE: sc video numbers

@tnar Thanks for that link. I know the scene numbering continued after the "Original" Sean Cody sold the franchise to MindGeek in 2015, and the models got 10-15 years older. I don't know what number that was at...but the new series doesn't interest me as much as the classics.

pbc.xxx is indeed a wonderful site. One can look up many models and find out more about them, including the Fakebook pages. It seems that many of the retired Czech models have BMW's, which is an interesting correlation.

@ianfontinell-0 said in Torrent File Sizes:

I don't mind huge torrents as long as they come with contact sheets for everything.

I totally agree, and it's so easy to make contact sheets with the many free batch thumbnail generators available. Whenever I have a torrent with multiple video files, I always do this. I'm not proposing that the site the make this a rule, but I consider it a "best practice." I salute all uploaders (likely yourself among them) who do this.

I do think that downloaders should use caution in downloading all or some files from very large torrents if there's a possibility that the torrent will be deleted before one is finished downloading. This is low risk if all the contents are from individual studios that don't make DMCA complaints, but if it's a mixed bag of files from different studios, containing a file from a studio that is very DMCA-aggressive, there is the risk that the entire torrent will go away before downloading is complete...and one could be left with a lot of unusable material charged against their ratio calculation.

    • RE: extracting screencaps from videos

@vmalar The thumbnail maker will do those collages. There was another application (whose name I've forgotten) would also so collages and had tremendous flexibility, allowing one to select specific frames in the video to appear in the collage, the size of the thumbnails, etc....but it doesn't work under Windows 7 or later. (I don't know about the Mac environment.)

VLC Media Player also permits one to snap a specific frame out of a video at full size. If I'm posting a torrent, I like to use that to give an example of the quality of the video. Some older material isn't very crisp, and this way people can set their expectations accordingly.

That's where I got my figure.

Being such a liberal, you clearly are ignoring the Dem controlled House.

Your beloved Dems thwarted Trump at every turn.

      Three comments:
First, the "Epoch Times" is not reliable news. The article you cite states that they have inflated the real number, which they correctly cite as $28 trillion.

Second, spending bills in the US have to pass both the House of Representatives and the Senate. The Republican-controlled Senate approved all of Mr Trump's extravagances.

Third, for the umpteenth time when you can't make a rational argument, you attack other posters. So I'll do the same: You are the problem. Your ignorance of facts is appalling. Your posts are worthless.

I'm not sure about gt.rent forum practices in mentioning other website names, so I'll hold off giving the URL here in a public space....but feel free to PM me if your interested.

With thanks to @raphjd: The site that I used to visit was https://www.gayboystube.com/. I think it's gone downhill recently--most of the content is home-made "wank in the mirror" stuff, and some horrible quality vintage clips. But, your mileage may vary so you might want to check it out. A few times I've found something good enough there that after some editing and processing, I've uploaded it here. It's very easy to download clips from there using the Firefox extension "Flash and Video Download."

how can i make a torrent that i have already uploaded before show up again as a new one?? 😕 😕 😕

If it's been deleted off the system, you can start over again and it will show up as new.

If it's still on here, it would have to be "promoted" by a moderator and it would show up with with new torrents with the recycle symbol in front of it.  I don't know how the moderators decide which old torrents to promote/recycle.  With nearly 150,000 torrents on the tracker, they can't do this for all of them.  Perhaps a moderator will shed some light here.

    • RE: National Debt Exceeds $123 Trillion, or Nearly $800,000 per Taxpayer

@hubrys All of us who are homeowners know the perils of "deferred maintenance." When bridges carrying national highways literally collapse and fall into a river ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I-35W_Mississippi_River_bridge ), it suggests that there's a backlog of work that needs to be done. The last several US presidents have made note of this, but nothing's happened.

Playing "catch-up" is going to be expensive for Americans, but at least it's spread out over 15 years. This is a different approach from the stimulus program placed after the 2008 "Great Recession," which cost about $800bn but happened rather quickly. It did seem successful at providing employment and doing some infrastructure repair.
