Look! One bad cop and it's the start of a dystopian nightmare! Dogs are raping cats! Children are grading teachers! Dems are going to force you to save your own damned life by wearing a cloth mask...

I liked the TX School Board who made masks part of the dress code. Appropriate!

It's possible that we don't have a bad cop here. Let's take another look at the video: There's no sourcing for it, no date, no location. There's a queue of people in the background, so I suspect it was probably taken at a voters' polling station...where there's a "neutral zone" of 50 meters or so from poll activities where one cannot campaign or display campaign signage, literature, posters, etc. Given that most people in the queue were wearing masks, this could have been the November 2020 presidential election in the US.

We all know that "Make America Great Again" is a campaign slogan for a specific person and the political party for which he is Dear Leader. Displaying that slogan too close to a voting place would be just as illegal as wearing a shirt that said "Build Back Better," which was a chief slogan for the Dear Leader's opponent.

So, the cop may very well have been doing his job. We don't know enough about the situation to judge. (Of course, "knowing enough"--or even "knowing"--is frowned upon in some political circles.)

That is a perfectly reasonable explanation... but it will be dismissed out-of-hand by resident our Trumpites... there should be exceptions for MAGA, they will argue... because it's PRO-US, not just Trump!

Can any attempt to thwart a Trumpite from showing his/her Trumpiness be TRULY reasonable? LOL

      @bi4smooth

You forgot the AP story about 70% of calls to Poison Control is for Ivermectin issues. It was less than 2% and in many cases, it was asking for information, not about medical needs.

The examples of "aggregators" not doing even basic homework on the stuff they're regurgitating are many and varied... on all sides.

In a perfect world, we'd find a way BACK to making news reporting a non-profit enterprise... so that there was no need to hyper-inflate stories, and no value in click-bait!

@nydude25 said in Switching clients and need to add all my torrents again:

I have to switch torrent clients since I'm having problems. I'm using a very old crappy program called FDM. The problem is I have like 1,500 torrents seeding in it so I have to download all of the .torrent files again to add them to the new client. The FDM program doesn't keep a backup of each torrent like most torrent clients.

I've read online that some torrent sites allow you to download all of the little torrent files from your history on the site at once in a zip file. Is this available here or do I need to search and locate each video and click download manually?

If you look in your profile, under "Details & Stats" you will find a section that says:
      Show seeding torrents
      Show leeching torrents
      Show completed torrents
      Show uploaded torrents

Assuming you have at-least one of each category...
Click on the "Show completed torrents" (and perhaps "Show uploaded torrents") and you will see the names (and links) to all of the desired torrents....

No zip file that I'm aware of - so this might take some time...

@raphjd said in Ivermectin - the liberal hoax:

Liberal media has been posting lies about Ivermectin.

It's not "fringe" media, but MSM that is doing this. The AP published a version of the lies.

NO, people are not ODing on Ivermectin.

NO, gunshot victims are not dying because hospital ERs are overflowing with Ivermectin patients.

NO, people are not flooding Poison Control with calls about bad reactions from Ivermectin.

Whatever you think about Ivermectin use, you should be angry about MSM reporting fake news and not vetting the sources.

      CNN got it right: here

This story is a MESS from the get go - a mess on the left AND the right! It seems everyone is so eager to throw "the other guy" under-the-bus, they consistently fail to check on the facts before they report.

      FACTS:

      • One OKC hospital had several ivermectin OD patients in their ICU - an ICU that was full (and therefore, turning away patients). Said ICU was not full "of ivermectin OD patients", most of the ICU had COVID-19 patients - but there were some ivermectin OD patients there too...
      • One Dr from that OKC hospital reported as much on social media in an interview for local TV
      • SEVERAL left-wing outlets reposted and made it seem like OKC was stuffing all of their hospitals with ivermectin OD patients (clearly overstating the case)...
      • Rolling Stone (online, not the printed mag) used a headline: "Gunshot Victims Left Waiting as Horse Dewormer Overdoses Overwhelm Oklahoma Hospitals, Doctor Says." which was blatantly untrue... They later retracted it.
      • MSNBC host Rachel Maddow tweeted the OKC local story - itself untrue (and to-date, hasn't yet retracted her reporrting of it!)
      • When someone did a little research, they found the Dr listed online and called one of the hospitals (multiple - which is not uncommon) where he is on staff - and that hospital reported NO ivermectin OD patients in their ICU
      • Right-wingers in the Twitterverse RAN with this one, some calling the Dr a liar (not true - everything HE actually said was true - the TV stations inferences and the people hyperbolizing upon one another were all that was untrue). Some even left negative reviews on this Dr.'s profiles on medical review sites.

Lots (and LOTS) of finger pointing (and shouting FIRE when there's just a match there) to go around on this one!

Mind you, LEFT WING media gets things wrong ALL THE TIME! @raphjd just doesn't post their crap as-if it was true!

Perhaps I'll start to post more "left wing nutjobs got it wrong again" articles... of course, that'll take away from time I currently devote to correcting @raphjd's postings ROFL!

But in this case, here's the "match" that everyone is calling a fire:

      • OKC hospitals are filling up (COVID-19, anyone?) and some of those patients are there because of OD symptoms from the use of ivermectin

All the rest is just people (over)reacting to each other's reactions to that one story... that story wasn't shocking... it's a kind-of "dog bites man" story... no? So how did it get so overblown?

Liberals looking for anything they can to show Conservatives are evil, stupid people. Followed by Conservatives looking for anything they can to show Liberals are evil, stupid people.

Would that we could all just calm down and admit that some liberalism in this world is good, and some conservatism in this world is good. What we need to do constantly is strive to find the right mix and balance of the two...

This is getting pretty wide-spread coverage - and I mention that because this is a 1-off case... a substitute teacher in a school district (Las Vegas) that is practically begging for nearly ANYONE to become a teacher due to shortages and COVID medical leaves. The district doesn't claim it didn't happen, and the "teacher" is being disciplined - but that is a "private" matter, so we'll probably never get to hear about the fallout...

It doesn't make it right - but substitute teachers have done MUCH MUCH worse, and received a LOT less coverage in the media!

@lololulu19 said in I actually AGREE with Bette Midler!:

@raphjd There are two states that allow live babies outside of the mother to be deprived of food and die on the table. This is what happens when democrats are in control.

That is a ridiculous claim. NO US STATE allows such things. Once a baby is born, it is - by the laws of EVERY US STATE, an individual person.

By way of an example: here in Fla a few years back, I fostered a young soon-to-be-mother. She turned 18 about a week before her baby was born. By State Law, her medical care from when she was 18 until she gave birth WAS NOT covered under State Medicaid. Once the baby was born, he (the child) INSTANTLY was covered by Medicaid, as was she (because she now qualified as a mother). It got REALLY strange on the bill she showed me (we challenged much of it with the Hospital, and they agreed to waive all of her fees.)

The MOST LIBERAL laws about abortion unsurprisingly come from the NE US: For example, In 2019, New York State passed a law that removed abortion from the state penal code and allowed doctors to perform an abortion after 24 weeks of pregnancy ONLY if the mother's life is at risk or the fetus is not viable.

Most US States have what are called "gestational limits" - a point in the pregnancy after which abortion (except in certain circumstances) becomes illegal. About 22 weeks is the average.

Read more about the ACTUAL state of abortion laws in the US States here

To be clear: I do NOT believe in abortion - but I also don't believe that there should be exceptions for rape, incest, or any other behavior of adults! If you cannot be killed at +20 weeks old because of the sins of your father, you shouldn't be able to be killed at -20 weeks for the same thing! I think abortion as a manner of "birth control" is abhorrent, and that when it is necessary because of dangers to the mother (or because of the non-viability of the fetus) that it is a tragedy. But I also don't think I have the knowledge - nor even the imagination - to know every circumstance...

@raphjd said in UK to give special privileges to Afghani "refugees":

Boris has announced that Afghani "refugees" will be given Permanent Right to Remain, free university tuition, and several other things.

In England, you have to pay to go to university. Now we are going to let Afghani "refugees" do that for free and on the taxpayer's dime.

The UK, like the rest of the western world, is not vetting these people, so we don't know who the boy rapers are. Not like the UK to care about that, with 50+ years of allowing Pakistanis to rape girls unimpeded.

We don't know how many Taliban snuck in with the "refugees". Nor do we know if any ISIS snuck in.

I agree that "special rights" - like full college tuition - is a bit far (a "lot" far!)... but the idea that these Afghan refugees are un-vetted is US right-wing propaganda that has been debunked by several non-hysterical right-wing media outlets already: here for one

This may or may not apply to refugees going to the UK, but the ones coming to the US are heavily vetted - which is one reason why the LEFT is screaming bloody murder (literally) about how many were left behind and still remain in Afghanistan...

I'm absolutely shocked that you didn't downplay this, as you love to do with virtually everything I post.

BTW, as a liberal, I know that it has never dawned on you that I quite often copy the article/video title from the source.

I'll pass on the ridiculous label... and yes, you DO often quote your source... but...

Often, your source is a far-right-wing one that uses a "teaser" - from which you typically "launch" your tirade (which this post lacked - no tirade!). But often too (too often), when you actually read the ARTICLE - the WHOLE article - it doesn't actually back up say what the headline led you to believe it was going to say.

Quite simply, you seem to forget that many of these news outlets are (unlike the OLD network news of the past) trying to make a profit ... and profit means convincing people to read... and when there aren't sufficient REAL "horror stories" to do it, they make them up! At least they do in the headlines...

But, as I am want to say from time to time:

      This ain't that

This is a legit story about another Gov't overreach into our as-yet uncodified right to privacy.

We need one! The problem, as I see it, is that religious conservatives see a right to privacy as a danger to their anti-abortion agenda (and rightfully so)...

That said - we're going to NEED a right to privacy... this won't be the END of Gov't intrusion into our privacy... not by a long shot!

      Youtube Video

So I found this alarming (as many of @raphjd's posts try to be), so I looked into it further... both with AU news outlets AND foreign ones...

To be honest, the foreign press hasn't really looked at this one - it's too new maybe?

But the Australian press is all pretty damning... seems the AU parliament passed a series of bills giving the Federal Gov't there SWEEPING rights to surveil their citizens (all under a guise of "protecting" the populace from "terrorists")

The problem with these kinds of laws is that they get abused. Federal Authorities will use these new powers against "regular citizens", and it's not hard to imagine investigators using these powers for personal gain (is my boy/girl friend cheating?)

So - where @raphjd has a well-earned reputation for yelling FIRE! when there is little more than an LED... in this case, there is indeed smoke and fire there! Especially because changes were proposed to protect individual rights - and provide some judicial oversight - but they were left out! There is no one "watching the watchers" - and that's RIFE for abuse and corruption!

The US Supreme Court has already ruled that slogans on clothing, bumper stickers, etc, etc are protected speech.

      End Qualified and Absolute Immunity

Make individual cops pay for when they violate the law and our rights.

Stop forcing the taxpayers to fund these kinds of abuses.

This is an area we can agree on... but, where you only see problems, I also see progress:

      • Former DA in Georgia arrested earlier this week for obstruction of justice in the Ahmaud Arbery (black man essentially lynched by 3 white men) (Read the full story here)

There are bad people in every profession... bad Drs, bad lawyers, bad States Attorneys, bad cops, bad firemen, even bad garbage-men! The issue is holding those people to account - and the more powerful, the harder it is.

@raphjd said in Marc Bernier - Conservative talk-show host - dies of Covid-19:

As for Trump and C-19, let's not forget that Democrats fought him tooth and nail at every turn on every topic. Nothing Trump did was ever the right thing, even when he did what the nasty ass Democrats wanted him to do. Anyone who says that's not true is either a fucking liar or an absolute idiot or both.

OK, so let's look at this like reasonable people: Dems fought against Trump on a lot of areas, but they never claimed that Dr. Birx or Dr. Fauci were making shit up, and they never claimed that Trump's vaccines would hurt people. THAT was QAnon and wack jobs on our own Right Wing.

I've said it before: Trump had no "moves" or decisions that were going to "salvage" his Presidency or his re-election. I DO think he saw this fact in early 2020 and refused to believe that inevitability and chose to use the virus to more sharply divide people in the hopes that he could rile up his base and maybe be re-elected.

His decision doomed thousands - mostly of his own followers - because he chose to "fight Science" vs. "fight Democrats"...

And for all the vitriol directed at Trump while he was in power, it is now being directed at Biden - because HE is in power. Check out THIS from CNN (a liberal-leaning source) - its a piece focused on all of the failures of Biden's administration. (I'm sure it had to be edited for length - there have been SO MANY failures!)

It's OK that you don't see these - you've shown that your News sources are all hard-right-leaning, and while they're also saying the same things, they also have to continue to claim that they're the ONLY GOOD source for your news because that's how they make money.

I look at news sources from multiple viewpoints - including FOX and CNN. Unsurprisingly, those outlets NEVER claim the other is right, or that they agree in any news reporting! Instead, they highlight the gaffs each other make... which both do, because both want - DESPERATELY - to be the first to report things... I trust NEITHER source implicitly! Both have been right from time to time, and both have always had a SPIN on their reporting to support their "editorial viewpoints". That's just what news is today.

Pelosi did the "y'all come to Chinatown so we can party with Chinamen and thank them for C-19, cuz Trump is a racist".

Ridiculous - not worth a reply.

Biden promised that if he was elected he would cure C-19 within a few months. Of course, he would not share that plan with the country unless he was elected. Here we are nearly 8 months into his Presidency and C-19 is still here and nothing has gotten better. I mention 8 months because it was 8 months into C-19 that Biden said all this shit.

Biden made ridiculous statements about COVID-19, and so did Trump. COVID-19 should not be being looked at as a POLITICAL problem. It is a PUBLIC HEALTH one, and we should be following the Science, while still respecting people's individual rights - within limits. If you're going to lambast Biden for ridiculous COVID-19 claims, why not include things like Trump's suggestion that injecting disinfectants might be a good idea?

Sadly, the one area where POLITICS is actually LEGITIMATELY having a COVID-19 component is in vaccine and mask denials among Republicans... and it's costing us THOUSANDS of voters. Not because they're becoming Dems - no, they're becoming DEAD! Because of our own party's vaccine denial and mask refusal, we're the ones filling the ICUs around the country. We're the ones dying.

Biden, Harris, Pelosi, and countless other Democrats said they would not take the vaccine if Trump had anything to do with it.

Here you go again, regurgitating ultra-right-wing propaganda that's been disproven already.

Here's the full quote, with the part you've been told about in bold:

"If the public health professionals, if Dr. Fauci, if the doctors tell us that we should take it, I’ll be the first in line to take it. Absolutely. But if Donald Trump tells us that we should take it, I’m not taking it." - Kamala Harris, Oct 7, 2020.

This is what happens when you trust your sources and those sources have an agenda (note: they ALL have an agenda!)

Now, that most certainly IS an example of Dems trying to politicize COVID-19 - and that's a bad thing! (We can agree on the core belief - just not your messaging) It's wrong now, and it was wrong then. But to be clear, she IS saying to follow the Science and not the Politician.... but in a way that is clearly political, and it was a bad choice of messaging.

But, she/they can be wrong without being evil! She/They can make a mistake without being accused of undermining all that is good and right in this world!

They criticized Trump over the vaccine at every turn, but then took credit for it when Biden took office.

I think you're conflating things here... they derided Trump's response to the vaccine once he turned against the science. In the beginning, Trump leaned on the Scientists (Drs Birx and Fauci)... then they started saying they were wrong about certain things - and Trump doesn't tolerate being WRONG! So, he started turning to ... I don't know what to call them ... WACKOS, who are the ones who pointed him to things like hydroxychloroquine and other "alternatives"...

That said, people were DESPERATE for answers, and the science was being slow...

But that's the part of Trump's response that Dems (and many Republicans, too) argued with him about - the part that turned "anti-science" and started turning medical professionals into global terrorists on a James Bond level. (The vaccines have microchips in them. The vaccines cause your skin to become magnetizes. The vaccines kill more people than the virus. The list goes on and on...)

But we're losing focus here: this post isn't about Trump bashing or a Trump defense...
I know, because I started this thread!

BOTH SIDES have politicized COVID-19 - I'll give you that... but its US (the Republicans) who have taken to getting ourselves DEAD over it!

And THAT was the point of this original post... Marc Bernier was one of those "science is evil," "vaccines are hurting people" mouths... and it literally killed him. And he's not alone in Republican circles...

WE ARE the ones who are dying...

and we're doing it to ourselves!

@raphjd said in Marc Bernier - Conservative talk-show host - dies of Covid-19:

      @bi4smooth

      I call bullshit.

You aren't rude "in return" as you often start the rudeness.

Your arguments most often are based on me, not on what I post.

I disagree - I post rebuttals (except when I post articles myself) to your claims. My posts nearly always include examination of your "facts" or "claims" and provide alternative "proof" that they are often exaggerated (or wrong, or made up). I think the ones that upset you most are the ones when I can show that you've fallen for propaganda or even a hoax (like when you posted that Trump had been CLEARED by the FBI - and I showed you that the FBI just doesn't do that!). But that's just my opinion based on the virulence of your replies! 🙂

When you post factual, reasonable things - without the hyperbole - I either don't reply (even when goaded by you to chime in), or I reply in support. Sometimes I don't agree with them, but if they aren't "offensive to a reasonable mind" I let them go... I don't need to argue about EVERYTHING, after all!

Go ahead - look back at your - say 20 - most recent posts/articles... there are a few I never replied to. I assure you I read them... I passed on the opportunity to reply - even when you attempt to goad me to do so ("waiting for our resident fake conservative...")...

I think nearly all of my objections to what you post fall into one of 3 categories:

      • you argue against a "straw man" - you make up people (often claiming its me) who believe things that only you say they believe (like when you say that "I hate Trump" or claim that I am a fake Republican)
      • you scream FIRE, when it's really little more like a match - like when you claim that one bad actor in Michigan (or 3 consecutive incompetent supervisors in Florida who have each been removed for incompetence - but not election fraud) is proof that the entire US election infrastructure is rife with fraud (and the follow-on implication that Trump actually won in 2020)
      • you use a reference that actually doesn't support your claims - usually because you've only read the headline, and not the actual article itself. This is another category that seems to really get you riled up! 🙂

Do I hurl insults too? yup - and since I have chosen to "fight fire with fire" you haven't found me complaining that you do too... My mind is sharp enough, my wit quick enough, my satire biting enough that I don't object...

What I find funny is that we sometimes (far more often than you realize) agree on your core belief - like: Government shouldn't require vaccines without alternatives (like routine testing).

But expressing that belief doesn't mean I call the Government fascist, or claim that the vaccines are ineffective, harmful, or a sign of the apocalypse! It's enough to say that it's government overreach and infringement on personal rights - we don't have to LIE about the vaccines to make "them evil and me right"... The people who WANT to mandate vaccines for EVERYONE can have good intentions (they are, in fact, trying to save lives)... they can even be be good people! And i can still think that their methods are government intrusion on some people's rights.

That said, (and I know, there is a nuance to my position here) I also believe that LOCAL governments mandating masks in certain - public - areas, is completely reasonable from a public health perspective. Masks do no harm (bullshit claims about CO2 or Oxygen depletion aside), and are not THAT uncomfortable... further, while early research was inconclusive - current research clearly demonstrates that masks WORK WELL in curtailing the spread of COVID-19. That said, notice that I was clear that this should be a LOCAL GOVERNMENT decision, not a FEDERAL or STATE one...

@raphjd Fascism is: dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, and strong regimentation of society and of the economy. Biden destroying the economy by shoving through entirely PARTISAN legislation is the definition of fascism, not to mention the mask and vaccine MANDATES.

If Biden single-handedly did these things, it would be fascist. But this ain't that.
Good luck on your 3rd Grade vocab test anyway!

Do you mean like how you have done that to me?

      You fucking hypocrite.

Both are garbage, but that's who YOU voted for.

Oh, I call you names - but never without facts!
Once again - there is a difference a 3rd Grader could notice... but it escapes you...

Says the fake as fuck conservative-libertarian, who hasn't met a liberal talking point that he doesn't worship.

And, as always, you ignore the parts of the story that doesn't fit your liberal narrative.

You are an ass clown, at best, who constantly proves the modified Godwin's Law.

When you can't win an argument (or debate) with facts or logic, call the other person names...

It's my LIBERAL ass that's warning AGAINST impeaching, or in any way removing Biden from office before 2024! Because my LIBERAL ass thinks the ACTUAL liberal - Kamala Harris - would be a NIGHTMARE compared to Biden.

When you see the world in black & white, you miss so very much... and clearly, you see everything in black & white... I'm sad for you...

@raphjd said in Marc Bernier - Conservative talk-show host - dies of Covid-19:

      @serenity

The topic of politicizing the C-19 vaccines is what we were discussing. The politicizing of the vaccines happened while Trump was in office, by Democrats.

I guess that is too difficult for you to understand.

Trump is relevant in some discussions, but not every discussion.

I was against voter fraud pre-2020 and post as much many, many times over the last nearly 16 years I've been on this site, but our resident ass clown fake conservative claims I am only against it since Trump lost.

He also believes that just because Trump says or does something, that his supporters must blindly agree. It's a stupid ass comment, but he's a liberal and Rachel Maddow told him that's how it works.

Why is it always necessary for people on the right to be rude? You are not even trying to be civil here.
Also Trump made the covid19 political from the start. He didn't want Americans with covid19 into the country, because he didn't want the covid19 numbers to go up. He said that on live tv, I saw that. He was only worried about the numbers of covid19, not the patients. He was against masks, lockdowns. He wouldn't send help to states in need.He downplayed the pandemic, and look where that got the US. Trump lost the election, because he ignored the pandemic. Or he would have won. It was his own fault.

I can agree that @raphjd is often rude... (I am often rude back, as well!)... and I can agree that Trump lost in 2020 because of COVID-19...

It's the middle-part I don't necessarily agree to: that it was HIS REACTION to COVID-19 that lost him the election... I honestly (as a Republican) don't think he really had a chance with COVID-19... no matter WHAT he did!

I also (cynically, I'll admit) think HE saw the writing on the wall and MADE the COVID-19 response political - INTENTIONALLY - because he saw it as a way to rile up his supporters and MAYBE get himself re-elected... it didn't work, but he really had no good options when looking SOLELY at his re-election.

That he "sacrificed" the COVID-19 response in an attempt to get re-elected should surprise no-one. Trump is for Trump first, second, and third... and anyone else after.

Had he put country before Trump, there would be thousands of fewer deaths and likely much less overall animosity regarding COVID-19... but he would still have lost the Presidency.

Biden lied and you support him.

Thanks for making that extremely clear.

Yeah - that's the take away - I support a congressional inquiry, so I support Biden.

But I don't support destroying the Presidency (or our country's ability to conduct foreign policy - by this President or the next)...

Your 2nd Grade reading skills are a SHINING EXAMPLE of your superior intellect! You go boy!

You are an ignorant douchebag who NEEDS to lie about everything.

The threads are here, so stop making shit up.

More proof that liberals are nothing but liars.

you are so pathetic... there is truth out there... but you have to look for it. When your pathetic right-wing outlets send you hyperbolic trash, you have to look for the source, and find the truth... there is usually a LITTLE truth to what they say... but they (like you) need to blow every little match up into a fucking forest fire...

Their need for this is to drive ratings and viewers to their pages because that drives their revenue...

Your need for this escapes me...
