    • RE: Florida to Enact "Don't Say Gay" Bill

OK, so Florida is the State that I have lived in for 54 of my 58 years... born & raised here in the Sunshine State (and, sadly, home of everyone's favorite nutball, "Florida Man")...

Most of you are falling into the deliberate trap that is being set for you:

      • Banning the "teaching" of LGBTQ issues in K-3 isn't the "crux" of the bill - it's a lightening rod to draw attention away from the other part of the bill... the part that empowers individual parents to sue schools and school personnel over perceived inappropriate instruction.

As to the other crap you've found digging around the intentional rabbit-hole (rabbit-trap?):

      • Anti-Grooming implies that LGBTQ issues are "learned" - a very 1950's way of thinking, and provably wrong. You can't teach kids to be gay any more than you can "straight camp" teach them to be straight! BUT by making such preposterous claims, the LGBTQ activists are focused on that statement, instead of the empowerment of the radical, religious right who wants to ensure that our schools "teach Christian values" to our children!
      • There are tens of thousands of K-3 teachers in this State, and some of them are BAD at their jobs. What the hell do you expect for a job that requires a college degree and pays only $36k/yr! - You're NOT going to get the "best and brightest", and you're absolutely going to attract people (and hire them - out of desperation!) who have "ulterior motives" to being teachers.... whether that's power-hungry bullies, or child molesters, or other bad intentions... they're there, and at those wages, we're stuck trying to weed them out AFTER they've been hired!
      • There is no widespread "curriculum" where teachers are "instructing" K-3 (5-10 y/o kids) in LGBTQ issues... but what is the Kindergarten teacher supposed to do NOW when Billy draws HIS family - like all the other kids in the class, and he has himself, his little sister, the dog, the cat, the goldfish... and his 2 dads?

IMHO, this is a "play on socially divisive issues" campaign (those LGBTQ people are "training" our kids and "recruiting" them so they can be molested by those pedo-loving LGBTQ people later!) that is also hoping to leverage the same tactic the TX religious right is using to attack abortion: kill them with lawsuits from individuals, not the State!

What's more, the language in this bill is so vague, it is sure to be struck down in the courts...

Just my observations... from the front lines

why are Liberals letting serial killers out of jail? Permanent probation?

How is this Liberals letting her out? She was in jail for 34 years for the second manslaughter charge (1985-2019). She wasn't let out of prison early because of being trans.

In this case, "Liberals letting her out" is acknowledgement that the State of NY (where all of this has happened), and even more so the City of New York, is pretty solidly Liberal. (Yes, there are more conservative parts in the Upstate, but again, that's not where this all occurred.)

Let's understand that there is a difference in "let's not be soft on crime" and an acknowledgement that "the criminal justice system has been racially biased in the US since... 1492?"

That said, the reports I read did not include the fact that she was convicted earlier of manslaughter - they only mentioned that she had killed before. I assumed that the earlier convictions had also been for murder.. and my own personal belief is that 1st-degree murder convicts should not - ever - be eligible for parole. Maybe a lower-security prison, but returned to freedom? not so much!

Crap like this doesn't help anything. MTG is enough of a shitshow all on her own; you don't need to make up stuff. Now, her defenders will constantly refer back to this in order to deflect attention away from the next bullshit thing she says.

Well, I agree on the first part of that: she's a shitshow all by herself without Libs making even more shit up...

I agree. Which is why I asked the original poster what the motivation for this post was, especially since it was posted in "Politics & Debate." What political or debate issue does NY having another serial killer touch on? It seemed like the OP was responding to something unstated in his post.

I will grant you that the assailant being trans is what caught my attention, but the truth is my point was a "Law and Order" one: why are Liberals letting serial killers out of jail? Permanent probation?

Read the story and the follow-ups! This 83 y/o psycho (psycho because they're a serial killer, not because they're trans) was tooling around in their motorized scooter with this new victim's limbs stored inside!

Why did this 3rd person have to die?

@kiwibiguy84 said in Bad Ratio isn't improiving:

So I've been with gaytorrents & gay-torrents for years
I've had a good ratio on both. Still have a good ratio with gay-torrents

On here around 9 months or so ago my ratio suddenly tanked
I've spent the last 9 months or so seeding, downloading freeleeches (That aren't due to expire) & using seeding point to buy ratio and I leave the Qbit torrent on 4-12 hours a day.

But my ratio isn't changing, My ratio is currently at 0.669
If anything it's been going down slowly.

I'm stumped as what's going on.
Is anyone able to shed some light?
Did the ratio rules change or

No changes that have been announced - and I agree that my numbers on here are harder to maintain than on gt.org or gt.net... but IMHO, that's because the "audience" size is so much larger here.

I was just posting this in another thread, but the fact is, there are only 3 ways to get "upload credit" here:

      1. Actually upload data to another user via a torrent active on the tracker
      2. Collect Seed Bonus Points (many ways to get them) - but that is VERY SLOW: 600 SBP is only 10GB
      3. Donate to the site (See torrent side home page)

Also: for downloading a freeleech to be any ratio help, you need to have downloaded it EARLY in the freeleech time. Why? Because what you're "leveraging" with a freeleech torrent is that, by virtue of it being free, it will be POPULAR! You download it for free (no affect to rationator), but then you seed it - and because it's popular, you wind up sharing large chunks of it - hopefully many times over. Thus, you're using method #1 above.
However, if it's been free for a while, the amount of "download action" will be waning - and the number of OTHER seeders (your competition) will be high!
Thus, using a FREELEECH to gain ratio only really works if you're catching it EARLY in the free time life-cycle.

    • RE: Seeding/Ratio - partially downloaded

      @Asia89oz said in Seeding/Ratio - partially downloaded:

New to the site and have been trying the following method whereby I only download some of the files within a large freeleech torrent (e.g. 18gb plus torrent but I only select about 3gb to download). But I noticed that the torrent once downloaded shows as leeching rather than seeding and it doesn't seems to help with the ratio

So does this method actually work?

I think you're confused about something.

First: there are only 3 ways to get "upload credit" here:

      1. Actually upload data to other users (seeding - with connections), or
      2. Trade in Seed Bonus Points - several ways to get them, but 600 SBP is only 10GB upload credit, or
      3. Use the Donate button at the top of the Torrent site page

Also, FREELEECH means exactly what the name implies: when you download a torrent's contents while it is in FREELEECH mode, the downloaded bytes do not count against your ratio.

      • All downloaded data (bytes) are tracked (some are used to compute your downloaded data summary, some are not - all are tracked)
      • Partial uploads & downloads count, just exactly as full upload and download bytes... data transferred is data transferred (even if you're downloading the same data multiple times)

Finally: the definition of a SEEDER is someone who has all of the contents of a torrent and is sharing them via the tracker. Partially downloaded torrents are not "all" there, so if you didn't complete the torrent, you'll never be a seeder (only a leecher). That does NOT mean you can't share what parts you have - and if you do, you'll get upload credits for that data - but you will NOT get "seed bonus points" until you're actually a seeder.

      I hope this helps...

    • Libs claim (incorrectly) that MTG "refused" to applaud Ukranian Pres. Zelensky

In as much as I am constantly berating @raphjd for posting fake-news (not fake, as-in: unimportant, but fake, as-in: false!), I thought it only fair to point out that Trumpites and Q-Anoners arennot the only ones who use this deplorable "tactic" of "internet mudslinging" these days.

On March 16, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky gave a virtual speech to the US Congress, where he requested additional American support in his attempts to defend his country from Russian invasion.

The Liberal media quickly started sending out notices - including edited video - claiming that Marjory Taylor Greene (MTG for short) "refused to applaud" for Zelensky.

This is a classic case of inventing worse behavior because the bad behavior you object to just isn't bad enough (a tactic often used by the Russian misinformation propagandists)....

The TRUTH IS: She applauded, just as (and at the same times as) virtually all of her Congressional compatriots did... Republicans & Democrats alike! Maybe not so enthusiastically, but she can be seen in several news media reports clapping.... at lest 4 times, if Snopes.com is to be believed. (I largely trust them, even if @raphjd does not.)

What has Lib's knickers in a bundle is that MTG has spoken AGAINST further American support of Ukraine. In her words: “If we truly care about suffering and death on our television screens, we cannot fund more of it by sending money and weaponry to fight a war they cannot possibly win … The only effect of more arms and more money from America will be to prolong the war.”

I don't agree with MTG's position - indeed, I feel that the West's appeasement and broadcast fear of escalating the conflict has emboldened Putin - a man no less despotic and World-domination-hungry than Hitler himself - into being far more aggressive and destructive (to civilian populations) than he was originally planning. IMHO, we can stop him here, or we can fight a much broader battle later. That said, there is logic in her stance. Pessimistic & myopic as it may be, it's a legitimate "America First" argument...

But this isn't about my views...

MTG and I disagree... about quite a bit, given that we're both Republicans, but on the whole there is more that we agree on than what we do not. She's not a moral pillar of the Republican Party, but she is a Republican, and a Patriot (albeit an extremist one).... and she doesn't deserve to be lied about in the MSM (though many of them have since retracted some of their reporting).

Just as @raphjd and the Russians shouldn't just "make shit up" to make Biden look bad (because, especially so in his case, there is so much REAL shit to throw!), the Left shouldn't be making shit up about MTG... attack her if you will - she's a favorite target - but attack her for things she HAS said and done, not for made-up shit...

    • Trans serial killer strikes again in NYC

The dismembered body of a woman (cis-female) was found in Brooklyn in early March... Cops knew where to look for the killer, and forensic science confirmed it: 83 y/o Harvey Marcelin, a trans-woman and convicted murder.

Marcelin had 2 prior murder convictions (2 other cis-women), for whose killings she had already served time, and was on "lifetime parole" for the other killings.

For the record, 3 similar killings makes Marcelin a "serial killer" (a definition, not just my thinking)...

    • Black Florida man given house arrest after killing white man who used n-word

I don't know whether @raphjd would consider either act a "hate crime" or "being racist", but somehow this shit always happens in my back-yard! (I live in Central Florida, USA).

      So here's the gist:

      • 77 y/o Vonelle Cook, white, and a frequent customer of a Tampa, FL Dunkin (Donuts) store, drives up & tries to order - but employees cannot understand him.
      • Instead of doing anything rational, Cook continues to shout his order, becoming increasingly abusive, at the drive-thru. Eventually, a Dunkin employee (unnamed) asks him to leave.
      • Rather than leave, the old man parks and comes into the store - NOT to place his order and leave, but to further abuse and berate the staff verbally.
      • Staff and other customers ask (even implore) Cook to leave, until 27 y/o Corey Pujols, a black employee, came out into the store to attempt to get Cook to leave. Pujols also asks another employee to call Police.
      • Rather than leave, the elderly Cook calls Pujols the n-word (and not in a friendly way), and turns his verbal abuse full force onto Pujols.
      • Pujols warned Cook against using the n-word, but Cook repeated it - at which point, Pujols punched him in the mouth.
      • Cook fell backwards, hit his head, and died 3-days later.

In an odd (for Florida) twist, the black Pujols was offered a plea deal: 2-years house arrest, 3 years probation afterwards, 2,000 hours of community service, and he must take an anger management class. [The State of Florida has a long and colorful history of race-based criminal justice. A black man killing a white man - regardless of circumstances - is almost always a murder charge and 20+ years in prison here! It's also the underlying cause (triggering event) for our oft-abused "stand your ground" laws].

In an ironic twist, it turns out Cook was a registered sex offender - he liked to lure young men (and boys - which is what got him into trouble in 2006) to his home, ply them candy & video games, sexually molest them - and video tape the whole thing! (Who knows, maybe some of his vids are on here somewhere?)

Anyway - as I've always suggested: get the facts from LOCAL sources, not the national media: Here is the story from the local newspaper.

Kyle didn't kill 3 people, so you got that wrong too. You were trying to make it racist by claiming that he killed blacks. You got sucked into the DNC narrative of "white supremacy".

Fauci, Biden, the CDC, the Mayo Clinic, and many others said that if you get the vaccine, you will not get or spread covid. That is the actual wording. Leave it to you to make up your own meaning to what was actually said.

I knew it was a lie from the start because that's not how vaccines work, but your fellow liberals got butt hurt and said it would because St Fauci, et al said it would.

You really do have selective memory don't you! We weren't discussing "killing black men" we were discussing "shooting victims" - the fact that one survived didn't change the fact that he (too) was a victim...

Yeah! That's the ticket! You KNEW all along what they REALLY meant, but it was the LIBERALS who got it wrong.

The fact is, a LOT of Liberal politicians got the "science" wrong - and some of them DID claim that the vaccines could/would do things no other vaccine could/would do... but not the scientists... they never claimed the vaccines were 100% effective, they never claimed "if you get the vaccine, you won't get the virus" - indeed, they didn't even claim "if you get the vaccine, you won't get sick"!! As with most science, they talked in percentages and likelihoods... not absolutes.

But at the time, the politician we were all listening to was Trump, not Pelosi or Schumer or Biden....

FIRST, they meant you in the ploural - you was referencing the population, not the individual
