Hello, gaytorrent.ru members. I've been lurking here for years, but need some advice.

I try to keep all my downloads online and available. This hasn't worked well with uTorrent. (I have over 10,000.) It crashes once or twice a day. The files are also spread across 2 internal drives, and 4 external USB drives. The USB interface on this windows PC goes berserk on occasion.

Any advice?

What are your error messages and when does it crash?  Could be a problem other than the torrent software but most torrent software gets sluggish and buggy with too many torrents.  Have you tried limiting the number of connections?  That's the first thing I would try.

Most people with that many torrents are probably using a seedbox which eliminates any hardware or connectivity limitations.

Possible solutions might be to use advanced torrent software like hekate that was created to handle that many torrents or else run multiple instances of regular torrent software.

You might also rotate seeding between several groups of torrents but then they wouldn't be available 24/7/365.

Only thing i know is that after i'm finished with downloading i need to let the torrent seed until there is a share ratio of 1. But the thing is after an hour it's still at 0. I don't know if i have to change some settings for it to start or where to look for those settings.

First off, you have uploaded a very small amount so you CAN upload, it's just that it's not happening much.

Seeding just means you have the complete file and it is available for others to download.  You will only get upload credit if someone actually downloads data from you.  That could happen during your initial downloading time on a popular torrent with lots of downloaders or it might never happen on an older torrent that no one wants to download ever.

I think what you are saying about seeding until the ratio is 1 is for NEW uploads, where you create a torrent and post it on the site.  That is a bare minimum.  Generally you should seed as much as possible and for as long as possible, ideally 24/7/365 indefinitely or until you delete the file.

You will get seedbonus points for seeding torrents even if no one downloads from you.  Then you can exchange those points for upload credit.  Click on the "Bonus: XXXXX.X" at the top of the page to read about that.

Freeleech just means that the download doesn't count in your download total.  If a lot of people have already downloaded the file when you do, you may not get much if any upload credit due to the competition.  What you can do is jump on a NEW freeleech torrent, and that makes it more likely that you will get upload credit.  You can also upload a new torrent that doesn't already exist on the site and you will get upload credit equal to at least the size of the file, as long as at least one person downloads it.

Just be careful downloading anything from major networks or studios because you can get a notice from your ISP that you've been caught.  Best to use a VPN as said or at least don't do it so often that it actually causes your ISP to do anything about it.

Love the French - one of the main reasons the variety of languages here work very well is that they usually will have subtitles.

I use subtitles even on English language films if they are available.  That started years ago with a Scottish film (Trainspotting, maybe?) because I find it difficult to understand that dialect.  Then there was some Australian film where it was hard to catch every word and the next thing you know, it was any film that had subtitles available.  I get a lot more out of watching them with subtitles.

VLC now has an extension that will search for subtitles by hash, which really makes it easy in most cases.  It also allows search by name but still doesn't always find anything but there are several sub sites now.

At some point I started contributing some subtitles, starting with fixing some really bad subtitles and then cleaning up machine translations, which is really not very difficult, just very time-consuming.

I started translating subtitles for Sebastiane to French but between my awful Latin and my awful French and all of the lines being out of synch, I got discouraged.  Even if I ever get around to finishing those subs, someone fluent in French will have to clean them up.  Hopefully someone will do that after I release them.

i almost always download files completely too lazy most of the time sit there selecting individual files. iv had a look and the only torrents that are not complete are either listed in quew or are stopped. i was fine until last week when i got my new internet installed as iv gone full fiber. so i suspected i might have to alter the settings of my torrent client as such iv held off while i try to figure out what i might need to change. update as of now tho iv turned off my socks 5 proxy and restarted my client, then waited 20 mins everything seems to be running fine now, but will keep an eye on things and see if it starts again. i may have to look at running through a full vpn rather than just a proxy not ideal as that costs more but we'll see. thanks for your help anyways

Well, unless there is some setting in your torrent software that limits the number of downloads, since you are able to download two torrents, it seems to me that the problem with downloading three torrents would not be on your end but on the GT.RU end as it has the ability to limit the number downloads. If you read above, the mods have had to reset some account settings for people for whatever reason, so contact a mod.
