      @myrea:

      Blinding yourself in science?

      :funny2: myr  :hug2:

      Don't ask though  :-. The scientific thingy didn't seem to work so well this time for some reason… dunno  ???
      So, since I was aware of that ancient say:

      there is not a thing you can think to which hasn't been previously thought by an ancient Greek

      I decided to go and see what Dax's ancestors had concocted about it and, as a matter of fact, they had proposed a number of interesting theories.
      They more or less all agreed these colours had to stem someway as modulations/qualities of the light and above the light stood the problem of the human sight that is to say "how do we see?"
      Concerning that on the Greek philosophy market it seemed to me you could find grosso modo 4 solutions.

      1. a ti (something) comes out of the eye and goes to catch the object with its shape and chromatic aspects (Pitagorians, Alcmeon from Croton,  Euclid, Ptolemy…)

      2. a ti comes out of the object with its shape and chromatic aspects and goes to catch the eye (Democritus and other atomists)

      3. a ti comes out of the object with its shape and chromatic aspects, another ti comes out of the eye and they meet halfway (Empedocles)

      4. No ti coming out from anything exists but there are only modifications happening in a "medium" placed between the eye  and the object (Plato, Aristotle)

      Now myr all these things seemed ingeniously constructed but I didn't feel to  be left with a criterion for a choice  ??? 😞 …

      @uicuic:

      ok not to be naughty (and maybe you meant it as a joke) but in french we say "faux amis" when it comes to words which are spelt the same in two languages and mean different things 🙂

      Naughty uic?  😄 How that? after all my French dates back from more than 30 years ago and I'm not checking it anymore. Maybe it is not even a French anymore after 30 years. Even Pier Paolo Pasolini when he spoke about his adopted city spoke about "the present historical form of Rome". Feel free so to correct me at your pleasure. I would be grateful to you for that  :hug2:

      @uicuic:

      Danseuse! and in French we also use the word "ballerine" for the same meaning of ballet-ish show. But ballerine does not mean danseuse apparently, we just say "danseuse etoile".

      oh my gaaaawd uic in my poor head it seems there's a fight between the ol' French and the new English

      "danceuse"  😮 😮  :cry2: poor ol'mole…

      anyway, faux frères apart, it seemed to me andy had a point there  ^-^

      @Uwe:

      @agis: You are right, if everything is done correctly in the step 4.0, it doesn't matter if the torrent was set to private tracker or not. Even the tracker URL doesn't matter, as long as there was a valid URL.

      This is due to the fact that GayTorrent modifies the .torrent file which is re-downloaded with the right tracker setting and the right tracker URL, including adding the personal secrete passkey.

      However, both settings given have some advantages in the case step 4.0 isn't mastered correctly in helping / solving issues with the uploader:

      • if that URL is used and the not re-downloaded torrent, there is still a connection to the tracker, which will return "unregistered torrent pass" so we will know from that the passkey is missing and a connection to the tracker is possible

      • a public torrent and a private torrent will have another hash, so if the not re-download torrent got seed, without "Private" the re-downloaded will add an additional torrent in the list with need to right file pointing. When it was set to private, it should be enough to confirm to load the tracker URL to the existing seed.

      Very clear Uwe. Thank you. From now on I will act accordingly.  :ok2:

      @andy32:

      Being European the colour doesn't worry me. Here kids (boys and girls) are running around with pink rubber boots.
      I also remember the 80's when young men wore pink, yellow and mint green everything (shirts, trousers, jackets …)
      and today I see a lot of men wearing trousers and jeans in bright colours even purple ... And remember all those
      baby pink shirts a few years ago.

      What makes these shoes so clearly feminine is the cut and and that small bow.
      I do think that the same print on sneakers wouldn't cause any problem at all.

      The main point here seems to be the current discussion if parents should support their sons if they want to wear girls clothes ( and vice versa) .
      I'm with anyone who thinks that this may be the next frontier of gender equality where children define their own space in their society.
      To the parents: Be aware of your surroundings. While this move might be challenging but acceptable in certain urban communities it might not in a rural environment. Don't forget that there might be the possibility of a war by proxy going on even in kindergarden where your ideologie might collide with that of an other kids parents.

      Well said andy in my language there is even a name for those shoes: "ballerine" a word which is also used as such to denote the French word "danceuses" (she-dancers?) 🙂

      @myrea:

      The antropology of colour, colour as perceiver in society regionally, just as you were commenting, it is studies in most marketing, publicity film making arts in general to architecture, by example we can have a whole set of red nail polish and women will be mad about how some reds make them feel.  :cool2:

      That's charming myr  :hug2:. At least for me cause my attention happened to be caught many years ago by this very topic but, as usual, since it was an interest separated from a work/job, it proceeded in the usual anarchical way. Sure it seemed to me though  I had to start from somewhere. After all even our German friends are aware of that and have called it the Anfang problem. Now, since luckily it seemed there was a lot of work already done, I decided I had to start from optics eh… dunno... ^-^.
      And, there, I found a  terrible thing: since the colour is there considered as the product of luminous radiations of different wavelength, grosso modo between 390 and 740 nanometers when they impact the human eye (retina) and since we must consider also a chroma (position in the spectre), a brilliance (intensity) and a saturation (pureness in the waves distribution) it was possible to calculate the numerical value of the possible perceived by humans colours. And this value was 7.295.000.  :crazy2: Now tell me what a poor mole could do with you surface mammals  :cry2:

      This colors stuff seems interesting though  ^-^

      I don't find particular defaults Uwe but, while I was reading it, I've realized I've neever flagged my torrents as "private" with Deluge (which is a torrent maker I would suggest for Linux since has worked well for me) and everything has always worked anyway with the tracker. I would include the Power Users too in the "ask if not sure" bit so.

    • RE: Scientists finally give up on "strictly genetic link" to homosexuality

      @AndyZ:

      OMG this is hilarious!  Christian "scientists" attempting to explain homosexuality does not have biological underpinnings by the merely describing the common phenomena of biologic variation.  If it isn't hard coded into DNA, then "God" didn't intend it and it must be labelled sinful and must be shunned.

      There are hundreds of thousands of DNA variations that create the phenotypical individualism we see throughout the human race.  Not to mention the additional variation that is created as biology interacts with environment.  How ridiculous to sanctimoniously proclaim superiority of one variation over another.

      Variation is an integrate part of life that has allowed it to adapt and advance into many different strata of life.   Macro-Evolution describes how certain variations will tend to be advantageous, but are wholly dependent on the type of environment to which they are exposed over long periods of time, as in hundreds of thousand to millions of years.   Yet, in the micro-evolutionary scale, in which we live, variety IS the normal and desirable process of life.  But if one makes certain suppositions about life's origin, one no doubt will be led to faulty conclusions that actually have no foundation in true science.  And so it goes with our Christian "scientist" brethren.

      Of course here things could get slightly more complicated Andy cause if we can say that variation is an integrate part of life we could say also that this "variation" may be predicated of things we don't denote as living. English then has a wonderful word: lively.
      But, closing this semanic bracket which could lead us off topic, when we come  to

      a true science
      a false science
      a junk science
      a sound science….etc.

      thence the quite deep hole of the science, its methods and its problems seems to open...

      🙂

      That rocks spinny and bears!  :cheers:
      These things are interesting indeed but I must admit I'm too ignorant about them. 😞
      Go figure just two days ago I met a fella whom I didn't see since the times we were both baby moles and both had still to grow a fur!
      To be honest he recognized me before since I wouldn't have expected him to grow meanwhile a smooth and white fur  😮

      "Cum on Igas!  both your mom and dad were black like me! I remember it as if it was yesterday!"
      "Ok that's that. Moreover all my bros and sis  are black too but I came out this way"
      "Unbelievable! Does it depend on epigenetics by chance?"
      "Nooo don't be silly, no need to have recourse to that. A not very common biological inheritance of genetically recessive alleles is more than enough to explain my albino fur"
      "Oooh well it suits you quite well dear… btw what's that nice red box you are carrying with you?"
      "Ah! that's a X-mas gift for my BF who is waiting for me to catch up with him soon. He is literally crazy for the candied worms..."
      "But Igas!!! So you are gay too!!"
      "Of course. That's a pity I'm already engaged dear otherwise...  :blind: Well I'm reaaaly in a hurry now but don't forget to come and see us! we are digging our hole no more than 45000 scratches from here at the third left branch of the red lombrils  tunnel,  Byeeeeee!"

      Now spinny and bears, while I was watching my ol' friend going  away and disappearing in the darkness, I couldn't avoid to think he had carried his fur color and  smoothness , even that smell which still reminded me of him in our good times with him to me. But his homosexuality had not a color, a smoothness or a  smell since it was simply a thing I had attached to him and made me wonder how comes we think to treat so different things in the same way.
