It's the shitty part of life.

Businesses can change their contracts with you and there's very little you can do about it.

EULAs are the same way.  You have to agree to accept it to install the software.  HOWEVER, you have to install the software in many cases to read it.

Even worse, they put things into their EULAs which are not legal,  while at the same time NOT honoring their side of the agreement.  
Facebook is like a time bomb that will eventually go off.  Intangible tech companies vaporize overnight.  (remember myspace?)

It will go off overnight.. once someone of notoriety points out that Facebook makes billions off of selling people's personal information.  There are constantly commercials running on TV about LifeLock.  Facebook is the opposite of LifeLock.

Yeah, it's unfortunate. We're going to have the national gun debate again. Tax reform might pass because people are both distracted and disheartened. And if and when we find out the shooter was a leftist, oh gawd, the divide will grow as if Moses were parting it.

I can't think of any reason why anybody in the country, including cops, should be able to buy or possess fully automatic weapons.  Other than the military, what possible purpose could a fully automatic weapon have?

If Sandy Hook didn't get gun legislation through then the Las Vegas incident won't, either. The only thing that could possibly push it through is for a shooter to open fire at an NRA convention and kill that SOB who's leading it.

I disagree, but the reason a reason to allow the sale of automatic weapons is to defend ourselves in case our government overreaches and we need a new American Revolution. If the British had abolished guns for the colonists we'd likely still be under the crown.

The constitution also has a provision for secession.. yet when the fully armed South tried doing that, the North illegally stopped them in the Civil War.

@Adam, when a hospital charges 78,000 dollars (or 5000 in my school's case), where does that money go? Doctors aren't that rich. Seems like someone's getting a larger piece of the pay than they deserve.

Insurers pay MUCH less than the bill you receive in the mail.  A $5000 charge to you would probably be paid at around $400 by an insurance company.

Then why do hospitals make a big show of putting those super high costs on our bills, well, your bills. One step in making the healthcare industry seem less evil would be to show them charging less.

The industry does it to force people to buy health insurance.   It's either that or go bankrupt (or die).

Let them go bankrupt.  In capitalism.. failures go bankrupt.. and should.  The moonbats like to prop up failures by throwing money at doomed disasters.  Everytime the republicans try to change healthcare at all, the moonbats start whining that people will die.  People do die.  All people will eventually die except for me.  It's just a matter of when.  The moonbats don't even wait to evaluate the changes or even read the proposed legislation.

Why should a person die from a disease that is curable?  How much money is your life worth?  Your dads life?  Is the amount different for him?

You never know what your next day will bring up..

A hospice is a type of medical treatment that helps take care of people who are very sick and have an illness that they will not be able to heal from. Many people staying in hospices have cancer or AIDS. People who stay in hospices are expected to die soon, but sometimes they get better.

.. I would say that very few of them get better..  but quite a few of them do not die soon.  It is not usual for someone to live another 15 years after their condition is "terminal'.   In fact, some cancer patients decide to forego chemotherapy because the chemotherapy is brutal.  In many cases, the cancer doesn't kill the person who doesn't take chemo.. but the chemotherapy kills people who do have chemo.

I think it also depends on the age you are diagnosed..

Last year during my out of town work, I bought a book (paper back) on sale. The title of the 1974 novel is The Front Runner by  Patricia Nell Warren. I was touched by the sensitivity of the love story of a running coach and his star athlete. I must have read it a dozen times.

It is also in the book where I learned the difference between a front runner and a kicker  :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:
