@john32123666 Thank you. I'm guessing my issue might just have to do with OS Ventura eating up more resources because with previous OS's, I never had this problem. But what you say makes sense.
Thanks,

@frostycab Thanks for the reply. I guess I was asking if I was being throttled or if the newest update to Ventura had some kind of anti-piracy feature that was slowing me down. It doesn't seem that either is the case. From what you're saying, I'm guessing that Ventura just eats up more memory or processing power. In the previous OS X versions, I never had this issue. I could download and watch Netflix and surf.
Hope you enjoy your new connection.
I'm on OX X Ventura, the newest release. Since the change I've experienced extremely slow connection when I have my torrent client, Transmission, running in the back ground. I was wondering why and if there is anything I can do about it.
Also, I've noticed the torrents I'm seeding aren't really uploading and so my ratio is quickly changing. Is this connected to what's happening with with my upload/download rates?
Example:
Without Transmissions running, I get UL of 9mps/DL of 16mps.
With Transmissions running, I get UL of 1.5mps/DL of 2mps
But the upload download speeds in Tranmissions is only about 50kps/1mps.
(Looks like I can't edit my own comment.)
I wanted to add, that when Transmissions is on, using the net becomes impossible. Everything slows so that I can't even watch YouTube on the lowest setting.

I asked for help on ripping a DVD earlier and received some thoughtful responses for creating a VOB type of copy of a DVD. Apparently Handbrake doesn't do that, so I'm looking to make an .avi or mp4 file of the DVD. I played around with the presets in Handbrake this week and found the best quality copy came under the Hardware tab with the H.265 NVENC and H.265 QSV codecs (I'm assuming that's what they are). However, those files won't play with Quicktime on my computer, only on VLC.
I don't want to waste people's time in downloading a torrent I create, so I wanted to know if it's okay to use those codecs and/or if you know of another codec that's better.
(BTW, the codecs under the General tab all produce lower quality videos at double or triple the file size.)
Thank you,
I actually purchased a DVD -- first time -- and I want to share it, but I'm not sure what the best settings are. I looked online for suggestions but the advice goes all over the place. Since we all share the same kinds of videos, I thought it'd be better to ask here what the best settings are.
I'm using HandBreak.
Thank you.
Hi, after the last upgrade in Catalina (OS X) Transmissions stopped seeding for this site, all other sites are working fine. I'm not sure how to trouble shoot this. Any suggestions?
Tomorrow is the big day in Asia, then shortly after the world gets our sloppy seconds. :cool2: What are you doing for the new year? How about eve? The stroke of midnight? Do you get a few days off, or is it back to work?
Myself, I'm an American in Japan but I celebrate at a native level: Osetchi, Kohaku, family/friends, shrines. I'll be hosting a home party tomorrow where we'll do the traditional eat, drink, and watch a TV show called kohaku. We'll stay up to watch the first sunrise then head over, by train, a temple and shrine where we'll get our fortunes for the year. I'm looking forward to it. The following three days people come over to eat and drink. New Years is one of the few times you can drink for breakfast and not get an intervention.Â
So what are your plans?
Running.
Here's one for round the house: For cleaning do you recommend/use baking soda or washing soda? (I just learned about washing soda and am a m a z e d.)
Every day is a day for home cooking, go for it!
(Flozen, I have a big ice cream maker and it sits on the veranda in a cupboard because the bowl has to be frozen, taking up too much room in my freezer to be practical for regular use. It is nice to have when company is coming. What I do keep in my freezer it this little gem: one serving that you make in your hand. It's a huge help in making sure I don't overeat. )
I've set up an electrolysis tub for cleaning rust! (I've been super handy this past week.) Right now it's cleaning the rust off an old school tai yaki maker. It does take time. Should I use my homemade machine to polish my copper pots or bear down and do the deed by hand?
