So if a person hates American blacks, they aren't racist because they are indifferent about blacks in other places?

It's racist in that he thinks Koreans have tiny dicks.

You still don't get it... if he derided Koreans for having small dicks, THAT would be racist. If he discriminated AGAINST Koreans because "they have small dicks", THAT would be racist...

But he wants to BE one of them! There isn't any of the negative connotation of "racism" in his actions - quite the opposite: he practically worships them!

Again, I'm not defending him - just saying that your use of the term "racist" is misplaced.

Actually, they do. Ask MTG, Jim Jordan, and many others.

Dems rewrote the rules to allow your supreme goddess and gin supplier to choose who Repubs can assign to which committees.

No, you incompetent twit, they didn't re-write the rules... what they did was violate the "norms" of the House Rules.

The House Rules have always said the Speaker has to approve of all House Committee appointments... what has always been the NORM is that the Speaker delegates and accepts the appointments of the minority party by the minority leader. Pelosi violated that norm for the Jan 6 investigation committee because McCarthy tried to appoint people to the committee who had already tipped their hands that they thought the Committee was a farce.

Truth is, it's just another "shot" across the bow of the long-held American norm of a "loyal opposition"... the Parties - for over a century - generally worked together. When one was in the majority they still worked with the other side - and remained cordial and even somewhat deferential... after all, if there's one constant about American Politics, it is that the OTHER GUY will eventually be in charge again!

Sadly, the end of this "loyal opposition" phase of our Political History started in 1995, when Newt Gingrich took over as Speaker and refused to work with or support any Democrat supported legislation - even amendments. And thus began the slow decline of civility between the sides in our Federal Government... It truly DOES make it SUCK ASS when you're in the minority...

Good news: The Dems will be in the minority soon
Bad news: The Dems will be in the majority again too...

I don't know how it ends... but I don't think it ends well.

This would definitely be a bad thing. I say "would," because implementation of this change (by the United Conservative Party-led government) is on hold for a few months. It is possible (but in my opinion unlikely) that this $50/$150 scheme will be turned back.

It's worth noting how this crept in: Last year a similar approach was applied to impaired-driving cases, following an approach taken in British Columbia. When this came up in Alberta, few people objected because nobody wanted to be seen as "soft" on impaired driving. Unfortunately, that opened the door to applying this barrier-to-due-process scheme to a wider set of offences.

The argument given by those in favour of this measure is that the courts are overburdened with hearing traffic cases, and that this will stop frivolous challenges--especially by "rural repeat offenders." Having due process available to people can seem inconvenient and expensive, but losing it would be much more costly in a broader sense.

For an example editorial in opposition to this plan (written before it was put on hold), see https://edmontonjournal.com/opinion/editorials/editorial-ditching-traffic-court-denies-justice .

It's not uncommon for MSM not to carry a story if they don't like the narrative. Sometimes they totally ignore a story and sometimes they wait until they get too large to ignore.

That's not to say that the story is real or not, but MSM talking about it doesn't make it real either.

@lololulu19 said in EU increases carbon taxes, but exempts yachts and private planes:

Progressives want to mandate that people wear sensors in their underpants to detect how much they fart, so they can be carbon taxed!

As absurd as that sounds.. they DO tax cattle farmers for how much their cows fart!

A fart tax could bankrupt Whoopi Goldberg. It Larry King were still alive, he would be destroyed! (Larry King is known to have farted so much that they had to install fans under his desk so that his guests would not smell "Eau De Laurence" Parfum)

If you want YOUR cars, boats, and aircraft exempted, all you have to do it pay-off the politicians, too!

Seriously tho, why increase taxes on carbon emissions, then exempt the "worst offender"? (Why? because they've been paid off, that's why!)

I do have to wonder tho - wouldn't it have been cheaper to have paid the taxes, than to have to have spent those millions on bribes to the politicians?

OK, so a couple of things to unpack here:

The election here (this was an election in a Central Florida town near Orlando - nor THAT far from my own home! - the next metropolitan area to my East..) was held in March, 2020 - not November, 2020... different election cycle, and one in which the local races were the ONLY races... no national ticket on the ballot, not even Primary voting!

The results of the election were pretty iffy... first count showed candidate A won by one vote, then a re-canvass mysteriously found exactly 2 votes, BOTH for candidate B - reversing the election

As with Trump's case, a court case was filed...

UNLIKE Trump's cases (all but one of them), the court found evidence and probable cause, and it went to court... the results of which were that those 2 extra votes were indeed "bought and paid for" by candidate B (instead of watching some incendiary, partisan VIDEO, try reading the local Orlando coverage here

Just a note here: in the one case where Trump's team won, they indeed got a court order... allowing the vote count observers to be an extra 1-3 feet closer than where they were permitted before. Both Dem and Republican observers were always given the same space, the suit just asked for that space to be CLOSER, and the court agreed.BIG WIN!

And finally, I'm not aware of any legitimate claims that were was NO FRAUD in any recent election - including Nov 2020's... only that there was NOWHERE NEAR the level of fraud needed to change the outcome! In this case, they needed 1 vote... in Trump's case, he needed thousands!

As a proud Republican, I agree with that sentiment: just not enough fraud (actually, less fraud than is "normal") to HOPE TO overturn the certified election totals!

We (Republicans) won up and down the ticket! We just lost the Presidency because we had a historically unpopular and historically polarizing candidate...

MAYBE, had we had a Republican Party with enough GUTS to allow actual PRIMARIES, we could (MAYBE - longshot, but MAYBE) have replaced Trump on the ticket and actually WON! (I know - I'm dreaming - he'd have won those primaries, had they been held... what? You can have your wild-ass dreams of the "big lie", and I can't have mine of a primary defeat?)

NOTE: The only Presidential candidate to ever score lower - in their own party, much less the general population - in pre-election polling was Hillary Clinton! Thank the LORD ABOVE that we didn't have HER... but even so, was Trump really THAT MUCH BETTER?

OK, yes, but not by as much as we'd hoped! 🙂 🙂

Of course it was, We will not hear another thing about it until after the next election.

No one in a political power position wants to scratch to deep at Hunter Biden. Once the public know about the Biden family influence peddling they will question all politicians and find that most if not all of them are gaming the system and making themselves and their family member richer.

That video was taken just a few weeks ago, too!

      Shesh!

(What do I mean about "a few weeks ago"? That video is from 2015 - only about 400 weeks ago... and when you're inflating this kind of crap, that's all within the realm of "recent")...

If this now 84 year-old woman is still (or has ever) DRIVEN for the US Government, it is certainly time to revoke her Driver's License! No argument there!

But, does that have any bearing on her ability to chair the Transportation Committee? Honestly, I think her AGE would be a bigger concern than her driving skills (or lack thereof)....

Again - I don't support her attempt to step up and be the next Chair of the Transportation Committee - but, while referencing the IRONY of a Transportation Committee-woman's poor parking skills is FUNNY, it is hardly the kind of REASONED rationale for denying her the role.

They have to make a boogie man to run against. Their policies are indefensible. They are going to lose control of both houses of Congress, State houses and Governorships.

Sigh... yes, we Republicans are likely to win back both houses of Congress (House and Senate) - but we shouldn't pat ourselves on the back too hard on that one: both are held by Dems with the SLIMMEST of margins, and the party with the Presidency nearly always loses SOME seats in both chambers in the off-year elections... just 1 Senate seat is enough, and just 6 house seats are enough, to flip control.

The "history-making" event would be if we DIDN'T win control with the existing numbers!

As for control of the State-level legislatures, that's because we (Republicans) have long-term focused our "grassroots" attention there (as well as county and city-levels)... THUS, we've out-maneuvered the Dems (and have been for many years) because we control the majority of States' legislatures - the ones that draw the congressional maps!

Thus, even though we (Republicans) OFTEN lose in the "raw counts", we WIN in the counts that matter (like the Electoral College) - because, certainly at the Party level, we're just plain smarter than the Dems!

November 3, 2020 they will step back and blame Trump, Racism and the voting rights laws that they still think people of color are too dumb to get an ID.

Um - I think you mean Nov 8, 2022... you know, the one in the FUTURE?

We know Trump was pleased with the attack by his own words, his lack of action, members of Trump's administration, those of aides to the VP, Kevin McCarthy leader of House Republicans on the floor of the House, and his aides reporting his call with the President which he did not deny, widely reported by the news segments of Fox News, even the opinion entertainment hosts were blaming him in private (now published) text messages to the White House.

You are making an assumption that you could never know if it is true. Using your same logic then Biden/Harris campaign and all the Democrats are responsible for the 30 deaths and billions of dollars of damage to federal buildings, police precincts and dozens of of minority owned small businesses during the 2020 riots. Where is that Congressional inquiry?
