      @wafflez:

      @raphjd:

      Yeah, and the left label ALL conservatives as racists, Nazis and everything else they can think of.

      I consider myself part of "the left" and you don't see me "labeling ALL conservatives as racists, Nazis", and so forth and I never have. There are people who may identify as conservatives and racist and/or Nazis, but certainly not all of them. I do find it rather ironic, however, that you have an issue when people on "the left" doing this (and rightfully so, as stereotyping is indeed a problem), yet you constantly label all liberals and people on the left as doing, being, or saying certain things.

      Personally, I avoid rhetoric such as "liberals/leftists are this" and "conservatives/rightists do that." Do you know why? Because it creates and perpetuates an "us vs. them" mentality that ignores and takes away from the truth. Not all liberals are the same, and not all conservatives are the same. There are varying beliefs, values, and ideas among a group. Painting every member of a group with a broad brush ignores this and is not productive; it only makes things more toxic. There are people on all sides, right, left, and in between, however, that do this unfortunately.

      Furthermore, different groups can share things in common. For instance, there are both people on the left and right that support selling weapons to Saudi Arabia, and there are people on both sides that oppose this. We may be on different sides, but the two of us both agree that sending weapons to Saudi Arabia is problematic.

      There are people on both sides that support same-sex marriage, and there are people on both sides that don't. Both sides have people that commit acts of terrorism and both sides have people that act peacefully and respectfully. The main issue is not about which side is more violent, irrational, etc. but rather, the fact that people are being violent, irrational, etc, because both have been violet and it's a serious problem no matter who does it. When you make a statement about how liberal, moon-bats, conservatives, republicans, etc. say this, believe that, or do whatever, you imply that they are all members of that are the exact same as each other, and that is simply not true. This forum would be significantly more peaceful if we ALL made an effort to avoid stereotyping and labeling.

      :cheers:
      We should be discussing issues here, not the mental capacity re lack thereof of the people espousing one view or another. Those who want to insult one group in general should take their posts to another forum ?Rants and Raves? or form their own forum.  Let's clean up our act here.

      Guidance and strong positive leadership from the moderator would be appreciated. ;D

      Would it satisfy you guys if they added a white stripe?

      IMO, no.  What about "LGBTQ" signals anything about race or ethnicity?  It has nothing to do with skin color….

      I think your point is legitimate and well-taken.  However, labelling it as an attack against whites distorts the issue.  Not everything that is pro-black/brown is anti-white.

      @royalcrown89:

      This thread is severely misleading because that act wasn't introduced into Congress until after the "covfefe" mess. #45 posted the tweet on May 31, 2017 and the act was introduced on June 12, 2017. So, you're arguing that the president tweeted about something that did not exist at the time?

      Apparently so.  But facts never stopped them before.

      It has been reported he doesn't drink. I doubt he smokes pot– if he did, he would be a lot mellower.  ;D

      @Frederick:

      How do you report the assassination attempt on a US representative in Congress.. at a republican event.. without getting political?

      Politics is about the free exchange of ideas.  If an unbalanced person uses politics as a motivation for his murderous intents does not make this necessarily a political act.  If he said little grey squirrels told him to do it,  would we have a discussion about wildlife conservation in urban areas?
      If you want to imply that the vitriolic nature of recent political discourse may have contributed to triggering his insanity, that is another discussion altogether.

      You guys are missing the point.  At the time of the COVFEFE tweet, it was just a typo.  The bill was introduced after that…as a joke.... Stop implying it had any meaning at all when the President typed it.  He probably just dozed off and accidentally hit send.  No biggie.

      @raphjd:

      Fox News is reporting the story as "according to the Washington Post".

      The Washington Post bases it's story on 5 anonymous sources.

      "Officials said"

      I don't trust a story based solely on "officials said".

      CNN is fake news; "ah poor poor white people"  "It aint no hate crime" "we did everything possible to ensure Hillary would win"

      Trump most likely is under investigation for obstruction, but to be fair, that does not mean that the evidence will support it.  I think we all need not to get ahead of our skis here.  We have all been spoiled by 5 breaking news items in a day.  These investigations usually take months, if not years.

      https://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2017/06/14/news-in-brief-hollywood-fights-piracy-covfefe-not-a-typo/

      Sky News reports that the Communications Over Various Feeds Electronically for Engagement (COVFEFE) bill was written up to ensure that presidential tweets aren’t deleted.

      Democratic congressman Mike Quigley who introduced the bill, and gave it the rather tongue-in-cheek title, said: “In order to maintain public trust in government, elected officials must answer for what they do and say; this includes 140-character tweets.”

      He added, “If the President is going to take to social media to make sudden public policy proclamations, we must ensure that these statements are documented and preserved for future reference.”

      It appears that liberals are the idiots, since they didn't know about a bill written by one of their own.    OR, did you guys know and still use it against Trump hoping no one wold fine out the truth?

      Not sure what your point is.  The bill is basically a joke, since all presidential communications, including his tweets are covered by the more comprehensive Presidential Records Act.

      You can fuck off with that bullshit.

      Even people on MUTE can report posts.

      And you did report it.

      Raphjd, I tried reporting you to yourself and got an error as well.  While you may have posted in your personal capacity, I think your language is unbefitting of a moderator. If a user has abused the report function, you can let them know via email or in a more civil post here.  I know some have tried to have you removed as moderator for your political views, and I have supported you.  Don't give your opponents ammunition for their return fire.

      The left NEVER take responsibility for anything.  At least when ISIS commits an act of terror.. they have the balls to own up to it!
      The left just blames that bad bad gun for leaping into the hand of that moonbat and forcing him to shoot those people with those evil bullets that jumped into the gun all by themselves.  Bad gun.. bad bullets!

      http://www.tmz.com/2017/06/14/congress-baseball-shooter-trump-hater/

      I guess it all depends where you get your news.  Did you listen to Bernie Sanders denounce the act on the Senate floor or Nancy Pelosi saying she completely agreed with Speaker Ryan's moving speech opening the House today?

      No.. I did not.. and you know why I did not?  Because even when the moonbat politicians such as Sanders and Pelosi say something reasonable.. the extremely biased moonbat news media bury those stories.. and under report them.    You won't see Don Lemonhead on CNN having a dissertation on the evils of what that shooter did today.  Lemon will blame that congressman for getting in the way of that poor, innocent shooter's bullets.

      I know you think CNN is fake news, but they carried all three speeches live. Chris Cilliza even praised Ryan in an op ed piece :  http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/14/politics/paul-ryan-steve-scalise/index.html

      I know you lineYouTube videos so check out theopening of the House today:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kt20GHZXYRw
      And Bernie Sander's speech here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPv–XBVcq0

      Things get heated in this forum, and there as been much name-calling.  Today's shooting at the Republican baseball practice should remind us all that we are all Americans first.  As Speaker Ryan said, "An attack on one of us is an attack on all of us."  I encourage every poster and lurker in this forum to donate to the Congressional Baseball Charity in celebration of our unity.

      I agree, we all need to come together after a terror attack and not be divisive. ANY extremist group (Far-Right or Far-Left) should be denounced.

      I won't hold my breath waiting for the far-left to denounce anything.  One example I'm thinking of involves CNN's Don Lemon who absolutely refuses to call anybody a terrorist.

      I just hope Frederick's pockets are as deep as his seed bonus balance and he gives generously to the charity.
