@raphjd said in Florida to Enact "Don't Say Gay" Bill:

      @gerggently

It has nothing to do with party loyalty.

It has everything to do with party loyalty, along with a little transphobia, as has been clearly demonstrated in this thread.

I am against teaching kids things they are too young to understand.

And if anyone were actually doing that, you might have a point. They aren't, and you don't. Again, this legislation is not only completely unnecessary, as witnessed by the fact that none of you can actually come up with any real problem that the legislation solves, it is harmful to the LGBTQ community and to the very children you are claiming that you are "protecting."

As for Putin, you people support open borders, except when Putin does it.

ROFL.... This may well be one of the dumbest arguments I've ever heard. What Putin is doing has jack shit to do with "open borders." And nobody in either party wants a fucking invasion. Get real.

    • RE: Help for upload

@fabr6 : Your ratio measures how much you've downloaded vs. how much you've uploaded. If you download a 1 GB video file and subsequently upload 200 MB of that file to others, your ratio is 0.2 (20%). The goal is to have a ratio of around 1.0 (100%), where you are uploading as much as you download, giving back as much as you take.

You can easily see those numbers at the top of your screen here when you're in the Torrents section. You'll see "UL: xxx.. GB", "DL: xxx.xx GB", and your ratio. You can also see this information by clicking on your user name in the upper right and selecting Details & Stats from the dropdown menu.

The way that torrents work is that as you download pieces of the file, your torrent client shares those pieces with other people, so that you are both downloading and uploading constantly. For a newer file here, you may find that once you've downloaded the whole file, you may already have a pretty healthy ratio, as you've been sharing with others as you go. For an older file, where you're the only one currently downloading it, your ratio at the end of the download will likely be 0.

For a newer file that's fairly active, where people are still downloading it, the best thing to do is just keep the torrent alive in your torrent client until you've given back at least as much as you've taken. Your client should tell you how much you've downloaded, how much you've uploaded, and what your current ratio is for each file in your list. Don't delete the file from the list until you've given back at least as much as you took, even if that means that you have to wait another day or two.

For an older file that nobody is actively downloading, where your ratio is zero and nothing is happening, it's still worth keeping that file alive in your client for a while, since you never know when someone might want it. Personally, I have about 50 such files in my torrent client right now.

The way I handle things is that I keep newer, more active files alive in my torrent client until I've given back at least 150%. That gives me a buffer so that I'm able to download those older files that aren't very active and where I'm not able to upload much, if at all, because nobody else is downloading.

The easiest thing to do to bring your ratio up, other than seeding new content, is to take advantage of the "Freeleech" torrents the site offers. Go to the torrent list, then click the yellow "Show Freeleech torrents" link near the top of your screen. Pick one or more of the recent items in that list to download.

Because they are "freeleech," the amount you download will not count against your ratio. The amount you upload from those torrents, though, will count, so your ratio will improve. If you pick a recent, fairly popular freeleech torrent, you'll find that you can maintain a pretty healthy upload rate, so that your ratio will improve fairly quickly.

Another way to bring your ratio up is to upload new content, where you are the original uploader. Like the freeleech scenario, it's all upload, so it will definitely improve your ratio. The longer you keep the file seeding, the better your ratio will look.

A final way to bring your ratio up is to re-load a torrent file that you had previously downloaded and begin seeding it again. You would load the torrent file into your app and point it at the video that you had previously downloaded. The torrent app will scan the file, figure out that it's all there, and immediately begin making it available for others to download.

      I hope this helps.

    • RE: How big is your porn folder?

I have about 9 TB of porn along with 25 TB of regular movies and television shows. I store all of it on a separate computer that I've set up as a media server, with about 37 TB of hard drive capacity.

I run a Plex server there, giving me access to my content from any phone, tablet, laptop, or computer, as well as to the Plex app on my FireTV. I've got the whole thing backed up to a separate NAS and to the cloud, the latter of which I pay Backblaze $60 a year for.

There are a few categories of porn that I sort out separately (e.g., Vintage and Bareback at the top level, then by studio under those categories). The rest is sorted by studio. The Plex server database has info on about 2/3 of the porn movies, so I have at least some ability to search for favorite actors and tags.

This isn't something I had planned; it just kind of grew over the years.

    • RE: Very tight asshole

@mikehunt42 : What the two other responders said. If you look on Amazon or similar website for "Desensitizing Lube," you should find quite a few choices. Such lube "desensitizes and slightly numbs the applied area," to quote one vendor. I've never personally used it but it doesn't cost that much and would be worth a try.

The most important thing is to understand that it's going to take time and practice to train your body to accept the intrusion. You can get dildos and anal probes in all sizes, from ones no thicker than your little finger to traffic cone size. Start with the smallest and practice, practice, practice.

One bit of advice is to place the anal probe just at the entry and to hold it there with just a small amount of pressure. If you're tensing up, which you likely are given your past experience, then the muscles there will fight the entry, causing pain and inhibiting entry.

Those muscles aren't all that strong, though. If you apply just enough pressure to cause them to tense up but not pushing to the point of pain, they will relax a short time later because you just cannot keep them tensed very long. That's the point where you can push a little harder and insert the probe. With the muscles relaxed, it should be both easier and less painful.

Keep practicing until you can get and keep the muscles relaxed every time. Be patient and understand that it will take a while for this to be really comfortable. Once you're comfortable with the smallest size, you can start working your way up.

      Good luck!

    • RE: Florida to Enact "Don't Say Gay" Bill

It looks as though Republicans are trying desperately to change the subject and to go on the attack after the uproar caused by this ridiculous bill. On Laura Ingraham's show, the chyron text was:

Liberals are sexually grooming elementary students

      and

Dems happy to run on pro-grooming platform

Get used to this, as it's pretty clear that they will be coming after us this election season and likely again in 2024.

It's interesting that the single best example of "cancel culture" is coming from the Republican Party. It would be amusing if it weren't for the harm they are causing, and will continue to cause.

    • RE: Infatuated with a straight/bi guy. Mixed signals. What to do?

@Willelmus : Since the original post is now 9 months old, I assume that the situation has been resolved. I'm still going to add my two cents, though.

Run away. Now. Do not wait even one minute longer. There is no future in the scenario you describe. More important: you deserve better. You deserve respect; you deserve concern for your own feelings and well-being; you deserve kindness, friendship, trust, and love. You will not find any of that in a situation like this, not with someone like that.

Right now, you're not much more than a living Fleshjack to him, a sex toy he pulls out when he needs it and then shoves back in the drawer when he's done. The fact that he won't even give you his telephone number is a huge red flag, as is the freaking out when you assert yourself.

If both of you just want the sex and nothing else, then I can see this working, with both of you just using the other for sexual gratification and then moving on with your respective lives. But that's pretty clearly not the situation here. And it's pretty damn rare, in general, as feelings almost always get involved on one side or the other.

So lay it on the line: if he wants to keep having sex with you, it has to be on your terms (within reason). And if he doesn't like those terms (and you already know he won't), you cut your losses and move on, and find someone better. And if I'm wrong and he really is willing to negotiate and compromise, this is a great way to find out and to improve the communication between you, leading to a healthier relationship.

Three adages that I've found invaluable when it comes to relationships, whether friendship, fuck buddy, or something more:

      1. Never make someone a priority when all you are to them is an option. [Attributed to multiple sources.]

      2. When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time. [Maya Angelou]

      3. As I get older, I pay less attention to what men say. I just watch what they do. [Andrew Carnegie]

You're trying to solve a "problem" that simply does not exist. Any set of guidelines you can come up with is going to be either too complicated, as your example is, or so ambiguous as to be absolutely worthless, other than to be used as a cudgel against anything LGBTQ related, as is the case with the Florida law.

There is no way to bypass the partisanship on this issue because it originated as a purely partisan issue, not as a problem that needed a solution.

Edited to add that the real bipartisan solution here would be to abandon this harmful nonsense and instead focus on real problems, of which there is no shortage these days.

    • RE: Why people need to lead by example

I should add that this is always, without exception, an argument made in bad faith and it should never be taken seriously or treated as legitimate discourse. The premise on which such arguments are made is false. By engaging with the argument, you could be seen as implicitly accepting the premise.

Probably the best response is to ignore the argument completely since it is self-evidently false. Another good response, as we've seen here, is to challenge the premise. The person making the argument is left flailing, unable to respond (see above).

A similar tactic is often employed by right-wing media: the "people are saying" nonsense that they so often use. One of the many things I love about Jen Psaki is that she does not let them get away with this but responds by asking who, specifically, is saying such things. They either have no answer or they are forced to admit that "the people" they are referring to are Republican politicians and operatives (see Doocy, Steven for examples).

Perhaps as adults we might try to equip children with the moral character to ignore that part of the culture

That has been tried many times, with abstinence programs and various "purity" notions. It has been well established, repeatedly, that none of that works. At all.

I also reject your premise that teaching about sex is in any way contributing to a "hyper-sexualised world," nor that this is what flozen described. This is your notion, not his. And if you're going to claim this notion, you'll have to do a much better job defending it.

    • RE: Why people need to lead by example

It's an old, old tactic, something that I've seen referred to as "nutpicking." You find an example somewhere online, usually on Twitter or in some obscure forum post or comment, and then pretend that it applies to some vague and undefined set of "liberals" or whatever enemy of the day you're targeting.

In this case, you're targeting "white liberals" but, as noted above, you never do specify just which "white liberals" you are referring to. It certainly does not apply to anyone in this forum, nor does it apply to any Democratic politician nor to any liberal organization, pundit, leader, etc. And in this case, the example you found was not only fake, it was obviously fake.

The equivalent tactic from me would be to locate a comment on Breitbart or Gateway Pundit, or to find a blatantly racist thread on Parler, of which there are many, and pretend that it applies to some vague set of "conservatives" and that it somehow proves something.

It doesn't prove anything, of course, other than demonstrating a bankrupt argument and the poor logical and reasoning skills of the person making it.

    • RE: Upload a Folder

@hotmuscletwi : The specific instructions will depend on which torrent app you're using but, basically, all of the major apps allow you to specify either a file or a folder when you create your torrent file and the process is virtually identical for both.

In qBittorrent, which I use, I bring up the Torrent Creator from the Tools menu, click the "Select folder" button, and point it at the folder where I've stored my content. The torrent creator does the rest, adding all of the files in the folder, as well as the top-level folder itself, to the torrent.

The upload process on the site is the same regardless of whether you're sharing a file or a folder.

Check the file size for the torrent files you downloaded. There has been a problem on the site over the past 12 hours with torrent uploading and, probably related, with some of the torrents previously uploaded yielding 0-size torrent files when you try to download them.

If that isn't the issue, forget I said anything and wait for someone more knowledgeable to reply. 🙂
