    • RE: Is asking a person out on a date who has already said no again sexual harassment

If your argument is that a long-standing trope of literature means a behaviour is acceptable…

There's also a long-running trope in literature and film that someone will fall in love with you if you rape them. (Part of the definition of Bodice Ripper romance and normative in Uke/Seme YAOI.)
Another involves falling in love with a kidnapper/man who keeps her hostage. (Beauty and the Beast)
Another involves falling in love with someone who is physically or mentally abusive. (Taming of the Shrew.)

I'm in support of the idea that it's better to try to date someone who is interested in you rather than someone who is not.

    • RE: Could anyone be "top only"?

Enjoying/not enjoying getting something up your ass is about physiology not orientation.
I'm a big old queer - figuratively and literally - and I'm an exclusive top.  I know straight guys who masturbate with dildos.

    • RE: Real dad son?

I was disappointed in the films like Arcade on Route 9 that the father/son characters don't have sex even though the actors are obviously not related.
For me, there has to be at least 20 years age difference for me to believe a 'father/son' scene.  I prefer that the 'son' be a Cub or an Otter rather than a Twink.

    • RE: Do you like Doctor Who?

I started watching with the Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker).  I also saw the Fifth and Sixth Doctors in the original runs.

My personal ranking of Doctors:  Ninth, Fifth, Tenth, Fourth, Sixth, and Twelfth.  I disliked Matt Smith intensely.

My favorites are all over the place:  my favorite companion was Rory (though I hated Matt Smith) and my favorite episode was Midnight (with Doctor Ten showing why he REALLY needs a companion as a buffer between him and people).

I can't put my finger on why is don't like the episodes with Capaldi that much.  He's a good actor and his companion is fascinating.  It might just be that Moffat makes the show creepy in a bad way.

    • RE: Star Trek Discovery

Well, Sulu and his husband were in the last movie but it'll be a first for a Star Trek tv series.

Does that mean I can skip episode 4?

There's only 30 gay male refugees from Chechniya in Canada?  I think I've met half of them.  (I do Interfaith work with a LGBT outreach mosque in Toronto.)

    • RE: Should we require an ID to vote?

My country requires ID to vote.  You also have to bring in the enumeration document saying where you are allowed to vote that includes name and address.

    • RE: Star Trek Discovery

I've watched the first three episodes. 😕

I'm enjoying The Orville more to be honest.  I'm one of the people the Star Trek franchise despises - a long-term fan.  The franchise wants to attract the fanboys/fangirls but doesn't want to acknowledge continuity.

It's already so divergent from continuity that they may as well say it's set in an alternate reality where the Klingons evolved differently and Spock had an older sister who was adopted.

I'm going to try to watch episodes 3 and 4 today but I'll be treating it as a new dystopian series that's a pistiche of Star Trek.

It's not just my opinion, here's a review calling "My Ex-Boyfriend the Space Tyrant" the gayest game ever.

    • RE: Best film for 2017

My favorite film was Valerian - which bombed at the box office.

This has not been a great year for movies.  Menashe was the best movie I've seen this year but it's in a language fewer than a million people speak.  I think Dunkirk is a good movie that has a chance of winning a bunch of awards.

    • RE: Post the last movie you've seen and how you rate it

I just saw Kingsmen 2:  The Golden Circle.  I don't think a simple rating will do it justice.

Violence:  lots of violence which is very graphic.  A bit of a turn-off.
Acting:  Taran Egerton, Halle Berry, and Tatum Channing were charming and interesting in their roles.  Julianne Moore was excellent.  Sir Elton John was stunning playing himself.  Edward Holcroft is going to be an actor to watch.  Colin Firth and Jeff Bridges were too restrained.
Plot:  The subplots were more interesting then the main plot.  A lot of things just did not make sense in the movie.

Overall:  The fight scenes were wonderfully choreographed but there were a few too many and most of them went on a bit too long.

Final call:  They are planning one more sequel to end the Kingsmen series.  They are thinking of making a Statesmen series.  I would watch them.
