    • RE: Stephen Port who met gay men on Grindr drugged them before raping and killing

      Every time I here about this case I just have more questions. He was convicted earlier of perverting the course of justice with the first murder.

      He left the guy on a bench and called the 999 saying there was a young guy seizing outside. Later investigation showed story inconsistency hence the conviction. How that then turns into 3 more murders I have no idea.

      Also what kind of crazy dosages was this man using? I am the furthest thing from a chem sex guy but I am aware it is a thing. Surely you would have to really be going for it to OD such a variety of people, body types and tolerances.
      I'd like to know if chem sex was ever mentioned in the initial messaging. Or just general [cray cray] signs to look out for.

      This is literally on my doorstep. I walk through abbey where the bodies were dumped once a week.

      @amicusets:

      More scared of a Hillary presidency than a "true" Trump supporter, but having met him several times, he isn't as stupid as he is being portrayed by the media.

      I really don't understand why it is always "the media". The media has nothing to do with it. Its the stupid, unpolished shit he says (and tweets) that makes him look stupid. The media haven't doctored his words, actions and policies, they have just reported and commented on it.

      I believe that he is different in real life, but unfortunately that doesn't matter. This is the side of him the American people get to experience either in his campaign or as president

      From the UK but I have been following whthis election pretty avidly. You just couldn't write this stuff! Its been better than the most reality TV.

      Trump-
      A ridiculous choice. I really don't mean to be offensive but I honestly believe anyone that would consider him either hasn't been "plugged in" to this election or is just daft.

      Hillary-
      I genuinely don't understand what everyone's issue is.
      Emails (meh).
      Pay2play- Again, nothing new. At least the money was actually going to charity work. And frankly if some back door dealing is what's needed to get the power players in Middle East to the table so be it.
      Basket of deplorbles- Umm, bang on the money.

      Johnson-
      A wasted vote and also seems like a moron

      Stein-
      A wasted vote and is unrealistic.

      Just read the story and shock of my life. I live in Barking! It's not a big place, he definitely would have shown up if I were still using apps. Thankfully at 28 Im probably a little above his hunting range.

      How the fuck did I not know this happened?

    • RE: Mississippi allows gays to be banned from any business

      I can actually see the grey in this. My family runs an emmergency accomodation for homeless individuals discharged from mental health hospitals. As you can imagine things can get hairy very quickly. The worst situations are usually from drug users and the types of people that they bring.

      I believe that we should have the power to refuse "service" to someone if we anticipate dangerous situations. Having to wait for it to actually is ridiculous. We are trying to do a community service (obviously we are paid) but at the same time we aren't equipped like a secure unit.

      The flip side is a rule like "privately owned business have the right to …"
      Well unfortunately that blanket statement doesn't work either. The vast majority of businesses are privately owned. I doubt you would love starbucks refusing service.

      @shynquietguy:

      On the other hand if you mean "Are people watching these barebacking videos and then being influenced by them into thinking it's all cool and awesome and no worries to run out and do the same?" then that's just silly. Sure, like with violent films, video games, etc. every once in a blue moon there's going to be that one nutcase with a very low IQ who sees something on film and feels the urge to mimic it in real life, but they're, thankfully, extremely rare, and their stupidity-fueled actions are in no way to blame on the media they consumed.

      You are thinking in extreme's.

      Porn influences sex in a multitude of ways. Hell I can even say that it has had some influence on the type of people I am atracted to, the way I view my body and the habits I keep to influence what I look like.

      I pretty much exclusively watch bareback videos. (To me they are just hotter)

      On the occasions that I have slipped up and been stupid in sex. Is it possible that has had effect?  Maybe.

      Its obviously not the sole or even main reason obviously.

      @yababylol:

      I don't think I've ever met someone who honestly believes this. It's a very old, old idea. I don't think it even survived the 90's.

      You'd be amazed how ignorant a huge piece of the population is in 2016. I was having brunch with a group of co-workers on Easter and someone mentioned that they're aunt was in the hospital due to AIDS complications and a man and his wife were there and were absolutely shocked to hear that a woman had AIDS. They thought that it was literally impossible for a woman to get it, and that only gay men could get AIDS, and could only get it by having sexual contact with each other.

      These are college educated adults who thought this.

      Oh that doesn't suprise me at all. I my experience knowledge about HIV and AIDS is appalinglly low outside of the gay and medical community. I basically don't talk about it with straight people, as I have heard some pretty ridiculous nonsense out there. 100% true samples below:

      -HIV isn't spread by sex, it is actually spread by mosquitoes (explaining it's prevalence in sub-saharan Africa)
      -People with AIDs have acid-like blood that causes there muscles to "literally consume themselves"
      -HIV positive people need to have seperate cutlery.

      • Couldn't be friends with an HIV+ person (um, how do you know you aren't already)

      I am sure I am forgetting some gems

      I'm sorry if that came across more confrontational than intend, it's not an argument. I actually gathered that the statement for what it was.

      The only thing we disagree on is that high risk behaviour is due to lack of education.

      Every time I've had the situation crop up with a guy its pretty much always been a case of them actively ignoring the risks as apposed to them not understanding that they should be safe. I'll admit that there is a range in people's understanding of nuances of the risk itself but all the same, they know the overall message.

      A lot people I've met use self justifications like, "Even if I get it. It's not a big deal" but when you follow up with with, "Well do you actually want to get it?" The answer is always no.

      I will admit that the whole Prep thing does have people confused.

      @DDAC84:

      You can't blame porn. Blame lack of education.

      I always assume if someone wants BB sex that they are HIV positive.

      You can't blame any one thing. There are a myriad of factors that affect HIV rates. It's not effective to blame one of those factors and ignore the others.

      In my experience saying it's soley because of lack of education isn't correct. i'll give myself as an example.
      I am HIV negative, and currently single. I have had casual sex obviously.
      I am confident that I am sufficiently educated on HIV risks, treatments and facts.
      If I have casual sex, I protect myself. However I have to admit that I have had instances where I have been careless/ given in to temptation/ taken a risk.

      In my experience that is normal. If only because the instances that it has happened is with other's that would swear they are safe all the time.
      I would say I am safe 90-95% of the time. I get the feeling that is rather common.

      Historically, I panic afterwards and get myself checked asap but the fact remains: why do I take the risk 5-10% of the time?

      Do I elevate bareback sex in mind? yes
      Why?

      @DDAC84:

      I always assume if someone wants BB sex that they are HIV positive.

      That's not fair. I will admit that its safe mindset, but it certainly isn't correct.

      Wide spread demonisation of the desire for BB sex will only cause people to lie about how often they do it.

      You are lucky enough to have found the elusive husband material. I assume from your wording that you have BB sex with each other. Some of us have been single for nearly 2 years. We still have the same desires as you though.

      As I am sure you are aware, ALL BB sex is a risk. Including in a long term relationship. You have no way of guaranteeing what your partner is up to.

      Is bareback videos a culprit for AIDS?
      Firstly I am going to assume you mean:
      Are bareback videos a culprit for the spread of HIV?

      I know its pedantic but misinformation about HIV and AIDS is a serious problem. Its important that we make sure that we don't confuse things. On to the actual question. IMO yes they are a culprit simply because they play a part.

      Most people are almost scared to admit that bareback sex is natural. I personally find it difficult to cum when I am wearing a condom. I actively seek out specialist condoms that still feel good. In my current lifestyle, sex is essentially a kind-of-rare treat to be enjoyed. A condom gets in the way of that enjoyment. I still will wear one as they are a necessity but the temptation is always there.
      Watching bareack strengthens my mindset that I am missing out on "better" sex and the temptation is all the worse for it.

      of course not. thouhh it is interesting to look at the statistics for HIV rates in your area.

      I live in London and stastics suggest hiv as 1 in 7-8 in the gay community. Thats very high in comparison to most places.

      But keep in mind that even 1/7 mens that 83% dont have it.

      Durex Ultra Thin Feel Condoms + Durex Perfect Glide Lube

      I struggle with condoms in the first place. I find it very difficult to cum whilst wearing one. Hence, alot of research into different brands.

      These are the closest I've felt to bareback. No tears etc.
      Everyone goes on about crowns but these are the only ones with where I have noticed an appreciable difference.
      The lube is great. it doesn't do that sticky thing. It doesn't get sucked up by the skin so you don't have to constantly reapply.

      They are stocked everywhere in the UK and yes they are usually the priciest item. But fuck it, sex is meant to be enjoyed.

      I've been very specific about the names. The "real feel" stuff is not even close.

    • RE: Have you ever come across discrimination of being a gay in your career?

      @enviouseupho:

      While I was co-teaching at a private school in Hong Kong last year, A couple of co-workers got fired because our higher up staff found out they had boyfriends. They apparently snooped at our social media; I'm lucky I private my accounts. The program is supposed to last 3 trimesters, and at the start of the second trimester, they told them in a formal letter that they ran out of funding so had to let some co-teachers go, but thats total bs, cause I got a pay raise. After that, I was scared as fuck because I just started seeing someone, and one of the professors saw me kiss my boyfriend when I entered his car late one day… the next day I asked if anything was going to happen to me, and she told me to not worry cause she'll pretend she didn't see anything.  :cheers:

      Shocking! I always imagined that teaching would be one of the more gay friendly career paths. Particularly because so many guy's I know tend to head in that area.

    • RE: Have you ever come across discrimination of being a gay in your career?

      London here . IT (on the business side)

      In my experience it tends to be a subtle thing. Not so much discrimination as much as limiting the cards you have to climb the corporate ladder.

      For me personally I don't love "boy's club" atmosphere's. I have definitely seen people use male camaradarie to further themselves.

      Taking clients to a strip club is not going to be for me. Neither is shooting with the MD. etc. I'm not invited becuase its not my kind of thing and I don't have that "mate" rapport with them. I don't feel offended as I really don't want to go and if I was invited I would be pretty much obligated. They aren't "work" events however missing out on the kind of bonding has a consequence.

      I'm not passed on for promotions or anything I just recognise it would be easier if I had that particular type of leverage for networking.

      In many ways its more down to personality that sexuality.

    • RE: To shave or not to shave pubic hair?

      If you really don't mind either way then it depends on both your "style" and the type of guy you go for.

      For me personally,

      full bush is a no.
      Close trim is ideal, full shave is fine as well.
      There is a hygeine to keep in mind as well as asthetics- Crabs (pubic lice) are a thing and the best way to avoid them is low or no pubic hair .
      (Condoms do nothing against them btw).

      But to me the most important is to make sure there is NO hair around your anus. Hair holds smells and you can douche and enema all you like but there will always be a smell if you haven't removed crack hair.

    • Is being "gay" worth it?

      I don't actually personally know any  long term couples that I aspire to. In fact, I haven't met any gay guys whose lifestyle I actually want.
      Basically, where are all the gay role models?

      I am attracted to both girls and boys. I identify as gay but tbh that is mainly because there is weird pressure that almost forces it.

      The thing is I that I think I might be one of those rare people for whom a gay lifestyle 0is actually a choice. I am fairly confident that I could have a happy monogomous, heterosexual marriage.
      I could do the whole kids, marriage thing and be fulfilled.

      I am living that gay lifestyle but I can't help but think. Would I be happier straight(ish)
