When I heard about the fall it was being suggested it was planned for publicity which to me wasn't out of the realm of possibility until I actually saw it.  I didn't think it was funny at all but I've never been a big fan of schadenfreude.  In fact, for me, Madonna earned a great deal more respect.  After the grammy performance and the isolated vocals came out I was shocked I was actually reading an article about Madonna that was positive (in that she was actually singing and not pulling a Mariah).  I think not enough is mentioned about what a performer she is, she takes that fall (a very impressive fall) and first, very important, the singing doesn't continue (so now we know for certain she is singing live) then she gets up, continues on with her performance even though she must have been dying a thousand deaths after the fall with the lyrics being so prescient.

That being said, I am right over the minotaur motif.  I hope it's gone for the Ellen gig.

Right up front I should say I think Tina Fey is amazing and greatly under appreciated.  So I was justifiably excited when I read her first project after 30 Rock was going to be set in a bar on Fire Island that would basically be a gay Cheers.  It hasn't materialized and instead I read of an upcoming comedy about a woman who breaks free from a cult.  "Yikes" I thought to myself, thinking the concept didn't sound like comedy gold to me.  Then I read NBC had passed on it and it was going to be on Netflix, my heart sank a little but I also felt justified in my original dislike of the premise.

Then I noticed it was available on Friday and decided I should check out the first episode.  Then the weekend was over & I am jonesing for more but read it was picked up for 2 seasons.  :cheers:  Wish I had read that when I read it was going to Netflix.

Anyway, Kimmy is the main character but her gay roommate Titus Andromedon is the star!  I am sure I'll end up reading he's not what we're supposed to want in a gay character but he's always cracking the best lines, for example:  "The last time I had two men fighting over me, I was a table at a Fire Island arm wrestling match." or the one that made me wet my pants  "How dare you? Also, although I do love me some Jessica Lange, especially that scene she steals in Murder House from off camera, I mean come on, she steals the scene from the actors in it while only appearing in voice, kudos.  (Full disclaimer:  I love that Blue Sky movie she deserved the oscar for).  And her musical number in Asylum was the highlight of the season for me.  What you will miss not watching Coven, which I imagine you must be getting from Asylum is the full on supernova trajectory of Lily Rabe.  Seeing her Asylum & then Coven performance is I know think of the Horror Stories as her vehicle & not Lange's.
