    • RE: Why is porn blocked on the internet?

I don't think it's anything sinister or complicated:

      • Public spaces: McDickalds or Starfucks probably doesn't want somebody at one of their tables with an orgy on the screen.

      • Bandwidth: Watching porn consumes a lot of bandwidth--it's a large percentage of internet traffic as it is.

"Public WiFi" is the private property of whoever is letting you use it, so they can make whatever rules they want.

(Pubic WiFi would be something entirely different.)

If your torrent is report [taken down], please check to see if people are still downloading. Continue to seed please!!

I would underscore this. Even if the tracker software doesn't give upload credit for this seeding, we've all had the frustration of not being able to complete a download because other seeders have evaporated. If you're connected to another peer when the torrent is deleted, the connection with that other user will stay active (at least that's been my experience).

I am tempted to think that we are taking about a user here who reports them.

It does sound that way. Admins could probably look to see if the IP address from which the DMCA complaint was sent matches that of an active user (although they can't confirm doing this as such would be a confidential internal process).

If they find a match, perhaps some system glitch would occur that deletes that user's account. We all know that software can do weird things sometimes.

If the bot sends out requests for the last shares, then there are oddities in its work.

The bots (or human parties) are far from perfect. Here's one amusing example: Back in the dawn of time I uploaded a torrent with a single .mp4 file of a full-length film. It was on this site for several years, and then I got a message telling me that it had been taken down. However, a native DVD version of that film was still on the site, and remains to this day. Apparently the bot/human did not find that one.

You raise several interesting points. I'd like to share my perspective on them, but please don't see this as a point-by-point rebuttal. If anything, it's an affirmation of what you're saying.

There still is no clarification about this as I think a DMCA request should effect the whole title

The takedoown process can seem random if not chaotic, but I think the site removes all--and only--those torrents that are challenged. This can look weird: I posted a torrent for a full-length video in single-file-.mp4 format that was on the site for years, and than was taken down. Oddly, the same material, in native DVD format (a .VOB folder) remained on the site--and is still here. I suspect that the site got a takedown request for the single file torrent, but not for the DVD...and responded accordingly.

This has definitely discouraged me from uploading more in GayTor as this is so questionable and I have not been experiencing this somewhere else.

I know it's discouraging to have uploaded torrents removed. I take time and care to make my torrent descriptions thorough, with good pictures, thumbnail sheets., etc. (In the past week I had one taken down, but I take comfort in knowing that almost 2,000 other users got that material.) I can see that you care about sharing material, and I suspect that your torrents are well-constructed, and I've probably downloaded some of them. I hope you continue to share.

So for the meantime, I'm taking a vacation from sharing in the GayTor and and also hopefully this gets rid of that 1-star troller.

Vacations are good things--they tend to extinguish burnout, if you'll forgive the mixed metaphor. I would pay no attention to anonymous one-star ratings (or any other ratings). If someone has a worthwhile opinion about a torrent, they should have the balls to post a comment with their username attached.

I will still be active here in the forum. Maybe.

      I hope so.

Question: Will my seed bonus count be wiped out if I request all my uploaded torrents to be deleted?

Someone from the site would need to answer this...but I don't think you'd lose it. But please don't ask your torrents to be deleted--again, I'm sure it's good stuff, and other users will enjoy having it. I, myself, may have had some enjoyable "private moments" with your torrents.

@ianfontinell I agree that there probably aren't studios doing under-age stuff these days--ethical issues aside, the legal sanctions are potentially severe and not worth any potential gain.

On the other hand, amateur videos such as an iPhone under the stall divider of some other guy having a wank are problematic While some/perhaps many/ of these are posed, in a real video of this sort there's no way to verify the age of the person being recorded. It wouldn't surprise me if some of the wankers were under 18.

    • RE: Who is this athletic blond twink?

He's definitely quite handsome...I'd call him a "twunk" rather than a "twink," but I wouldn't quibble over definitions if he'd answer my calls. 🍆

There are three videos of him available at https://gayforfans.com/performer/james-maxwell-jamesmaxyy/ . They are downloadable.

There are even better ones (IMHO) at https://www.myvidster.com/channel/3347798/James_Maxwell . In these, he hasn't shaved everything. Downloading the videos from this site is tricky. For first video, save the file https://streamtape.com/get_video?id=mg0qW8vZyosbLQK&expires=1667849639&ip=F0AWKRSTFI9XKxR&token=t5MnBbFg5LqD&stream=1 and then change the file extension to .mp4.

Edit: Ignore my statement above about downloading from myvidster. Somebody posted those videos at the new link mentioned in my post a few clicks below. And if you do want to download from myvidster, it's not as tortured as I made it sound. If one clicks on the video and waits a minute or so for it to start to stream, it will get recognised by most browser download extensions and you can do it that way.

It's a sad -- but not completely shocking -- turn of events

So true. Porn news is too often a necrology of beautiful men.

I am reminded of a line from Harvey Fierstein's Torch Song Trilogy: I think my biggest problem is being young and beautiful. It's my biggest problem because I've never been young and beautiful. Oh, I've been beautiful, and God knows I've been young, but never the twain have met.

No, Arnold, by not being young and beautiful at the same time, you were probably saved much grief.

This is what I did, but it ended up getting my uploading privilege taken away for 90 days.
      .
Maybe it would be helpful if there's a list of (recent) uploads that resulted in upload ban so uploader know to avoid or do it at our risk. The lack of transparency over the issue will lead to discouraging uploaders from contributing to the site.

I didn't know that an uploading privilege could be taken away for copyright/DMCA reasons. I'm sorry this happened, and I hope that you will continue to share content on here. Many people, myself among them, appreciate your efforts.

As you say, it would be nice to know a bit more about these rules so that we uploaders could stay on the right side of them. That said, these topics are very sensitive and the site owners/administrators quite understandably don't want to discuss them very much.

(Given the title and content of this discussion thread, I'm assuming that the reason your torrents were removed was for copyright reasons. If the reason had to do with uploading something on the banned list at https://www.gaytor.rent/notallowed.php, that would be another matter.)

    • RE: Where to post Video Requests?

@lololulu19 said in Where to post Video Requests?:

What frustrates me is.. sometimes there is a video that I have previously downloaded, but lost, and can't remember the name of. I am certain that the video is already here, I just can't find it because I don't know the name of the actors or the title.

It sounds like your request here is to identify the video--title, models, etc., rather than to request a new torrent to be posted. You can make this kind of identity request in the "Who Is This/What Video Is This" category. It can be hard to identify a video from a verbal description without photos, but it sometimes works--and this practice is very much allowed.

Once the video is identified, though, it's not allowed to request that someone upload a new torrent to that effect. If it's already posted, you can search for it...and if it's dead (i.e., no seeders), you can do a re-seed request.

      @semurg30 said

I don't understand the logic of not allowing requests.

The simplest answer here is that the site owner doesn't allow requests. We can speculate at to what his reasons are, and perhaps come close to the mark, but that ultimately doesn't matter.

@gaycatking The takedown process is somewhat mysterious, because the site owners/operators quite understandably prefer not to discuss it. My own view is that rather than being unhappy about torrents that go away, I prefer to be grateful for the torrents that remain.

I can see that torrent when I search for it.

I've noticed that when I upload a new torrent, it takes one or two tracker update cycles (about 30 minutes each) for everything to sort out. I'm often a bit puzzled or anxious before things settle, but if I give it time, it's fine.

It looks like almost 30 people have downloaded that material. Not everyone will officially say thank you, but you can be confident that they are happy to have the files.

    • RE: Vanishing torrents...

Most likely the torrent was taken down in response to a legitimate DMCA request. This happens when a copyright owner requests that from the site operators. It's not some nefarious hacking. When that torrent is taken down, it's completely vaporised.

This topic is addressed often in this forum. It seems that fan sites are quite diligent with these requests. (I don't care for fan site material, so I haven't noticed this first hand.)

    • RE: ID this guy on the cover of Bonfire of the Panties (straight porn)

"Snit" might not be a highly precise term, so one could argue for or against its applicability here. (@flozen could well have used a different second consonant in that word, which, while more inflammatory, might also have been appropriate.)

But let's look at the specific flow of the thread. In the first post, the OP says, in essence, "Please help me find something. I looked in X [IAFD] and it wasn't there." (Bonus points are awarded for use of the term "please.")

The first response said, "Take a look in Y (adultdvdempire), it might be in there."

The OP responds, "As I already said, I looked in X, and it wasn't there." This post adds nothing to the thread, as its contents had indeed been "already said." It does not say, but perhaps implies, that the OP looked in Y and didn't find the desired thing there. If that were the case, a better response would have been, "Thank you; I looked there, and and I didn't find it there either." Another approach would have been to not respond at all.

While it's not required that people use common courtesy in this forum, it doesn't hurt. In fact, it might even help: Courteous responses can encourage other Gentle Members to respond to requests for information, whilst non-courteous ones can discourage that.

I don't expect anyone else to jump in with an answer the original question of this thread.

@bear1515 said in How often do you consume porn & do you think you're addicted?:

like most things [porn] can be addictive, and if you feel that you are neglecting important stuff to watch porn, or it's affecting you negatively, then there's a good chance you're addicted and you should work on reducing it.

An addiction to porn is not unlike addiction to alcohol or drugs. There's a useful self-assessment test at https://www.psycom.net/am-i-an-alcoholic-alcohol-use-disorder. This is targeted at alcohol addiction, but one can substitute "watching porn" for "drinking alcohol" and have a reasonably reliable test.

There isn't, though, a direct correlation between consuming a lot of porn (or alcohol) and being addicted to it. Someone could watch porn for several hours per day and not be addicted, and conversely someone could look at porn for a few minutes every few days and be addicted.

A friend of mine is a therapist specialising in addiction treatment. He has an even simpler self-assessment test than the one linked above: He asks clients who are questioning whether they're addicted to something to abstain from it completely for two weeks. If they can do this successfully, it's likely that they're not addicted. If such abstinence is a struggle, then it's possible/likely that they are addicted, and further assessment is indicated.
