RE: Upload Limit
@pmrrk I use uTorrent and I don't notice a problem here. I don't think I fiddled with any of the default options/preferences, so that's probably not an issue here.
I looked at the torrent you linked, and right now it has about 25 seeders and 2 leechers. As far as the tracker software is concerned, you're on equal footing with the 24 other seeders of this material even though you were the original uploader. New people grabbing the torrent will still get your material even if it isn't directly downloaded from you.
Even if you don't get lots of upload volume from the torrent, you can take satisfaction in knowing that there are 50+ other members who have downloaded your stuff. They might not post a thank-you, but they do appreciate it.

RE: Introduction/questions
Another thing that can help is to only download part of a new multi-file torrent: For example, if a torrent has multiple files and total size of 10 GB, I find that if I select only 5% of those files for downloading, I'll get them quickly and then seed them back to other users at a high speed.
Fan site torrents are especially good for this. There was one about a week ago where I did this, and my share ratio for that torrent alone is about 13 right now. I'll probably keep it for another week and then delete it.
The only downside to this approach is that this torrent will count against your allowable download slots even when you've downloaded everything you selected. I think that's a small price to pay for pumping up your ratio.
Good luck with this, and let us know how it turns out for you.

RE: Can Gaytorrent give me a list of torrents I've previously downloaded?
@ianfontinell said in Can Gaytorrent give me a list of torrents I've previously downloaded?:
It'll only show torrent's that you've downloaded fully.
Note that "downloaded fully" means that you have downloaded all of the files in the torrent. If you've selected some (but not all) of the files, it won't show up here (even though your torrent client shows the torrent as being finished). Also, the system will count this torrent as one you're still downloading.

RE: I want to rip a DVD to upload here, what are the best settings for HandBrake to do that?
My own preference as a downloader is to have DVD's as a VIDEO_TS folder with multiple files in it, rather than a single file .iso image. If there are individual files, I can download a sampling, and sometimes those files will be readable (if incomplete) when only 30% or so has been downloaded. This way I can preview bits of the DVD and decide if I want to download the whole thing. This isn't possible with a .iso image file.

RE: 1 Star Rating Troll
@Rotron said in 1 Star Rating Troll:
downloaders know what they are downloading and they would only download ones that they want
Yes, that's the philosophy. I did a search for "boys love drama" and came up with 32 torrents that are probably yours--and a quick look at the page with some mental arithmetic shows that your torrents have been downloaded close to 500 times. This says a lot more about how much people appreciate your sharing than one angry troll.
That troll will be even angrier if he sees that all of those torrents now have an additional rating vote...for five stars. I wonder how that happened...
Please continue to share your material--many people appreciate it.

RE: Disclaimer
@Joshuadun As applied to this website, it means: "We [gaytor.rent] don't host videos on this [gaytor.rent] webspace. Individual users have them, and we've told them not to distribute material for which they don't have legal rights."

RE: Reseed request failed
@OKCancel You might be stuck: It seems that only five* people downloaded this when it was posted 12-14 years ago...and either none of them are still site members, or the system doesn't still have a record of who they are. Bottom line is that no reseed requests were sent out.
*But...it seems odd that the page shows that only five people downloaded this, and yet 18 site members gave a "thank you" to the torrent. You could try sending a PM to the members hyperlinked on the page:
(Clicking on their name on the torrent page will open their profile, and then there's a "send message" button at the bottom. Brother @Popper is a site moderator, so his profile page won't be enabled...but the others should work.) -
RE: Cum on food fetish/videos anyone?
Here's a grab from that scene in Swimboy:
I also recall a story from a friend of mine at university who worked in a McDonald's when he was in high school. Lovers of Big Macs won't want to hear that story. (Or maybe they would.....)

It's not about layout. It's about accurate information.
The "rules" you posted were not accurate. If you want to use the old layout for yourself, that's your own business. But if you post things for other members to see, please make sure they match what is on the current, live website.

I think @john32123666 just has a very old cached version of the Banned Content page saved on his computer, or perhaps an old screenshot.
That would explain it. I'm glad the rules changed--there's a lot of good gay-related content in mainstream media, and I think it's important for us to see how that is portrayed to the larger public. A while back I downloaded a recent BBC documentary featuring diver Tom Daley about institutionalised homophobia in other Commonwealth countries. I have yet to watch it, but based on a few small snippets, it looks very good.
To come back to the OP's issue, Teen Wolf wouldn't qualify under current site rules as it's neither gay-themed nor "male physique," even if the actors are easy on the eye.

I have no clue ??? ...
Perhaps it's a "deep fake." Someone could manipulate the page's HTML code and come up with something that looks sort of real, but isn't. For example, a few minutes of mischief could produce the following:
But note that this doesn't show an address bar. Doing that would reveal that the browser isn't displaying a gaytor.rent web page--it's showing a file on my computer.(For the record, I have nothing against purple penises. In the spirit of Monty Python, let us remember that Every schlong is sacred; every schlong is great. If a schlong is wasted, God gets quite irate.)

RE: My torrent got taken down
@drekkin Thank you sir for your eagle eye!
An outdated page could explain this problem...although it looks like @john32123666 is grabbing an image from his browser. I don't know how this would show up: I tried going to archive.org to see if I could get old pages from gaytorrent.ru, but the upload page/rules are behind a log-in, so they're not archived.
This will be one of life's mysteries.

RE: My torrent got taken down
@tnar Thank you sir!
I looked at the source code for that page, and I didn't see anything about "mainstream media" that would get garbled by a browser. And, there's lots of content from the BBC on the torrent site, which would be odd if it were banned.
I'm getting the uncomfortable feeling that the "rules" cited by @john32123666 don't really exist. I hope I'm wrong about that, as it would make for an awkward situation.

RE: My torrent got taken down
@john32123666 I think we can understand the problem now. When you go to that link, you get what you've pasted in. I don't get. What I get (pasted in below) is something different. That would seem to be a problem with the website, and needs to be referred to the help desk. Perhaps other members could say what they get when they go to the link.

RE: My torrent got taken down
@john32123666 Let me try this again: I don't see the rules you are quoting when I go the link you provided. I'm pasting below a screenshot of what I get when I go to your link. Perhaps you post a screenshot of what you get.

I don't see this list on the Banned Content page ( https://www.gaytor.rent/notallowed.php ). Could you check the URL here? It comes as a surprise to me: There have been some excellent BBC* documentaries and mini-series on gay topics (such as Line of Beauty), and it would be a shame if they had to come down.
*Note that BBC here means "British Broadcasting Corporation," not something else.

RE: My torrent got taken down
@drekkin The rules go on to say, "Also acceptable are non-porn films involving voyeurism of the adult male physique. Examples of voyeuristic material include bodybuilding, wrestling and underwear/swimwear." There were some videos posted in the last few days with lots of guys running around in briefs, with no sex or gay content. That would qualify here under this "we like bulges" provision.
I'm not familiar with the Teen Wolf series. I know that many of the actors are attractive, but if they keep their clothes on, then it wouldn't count as "male physique" and thus not be appropriate for this site.
Having said all that, I appreciate @Ricksterkid's willingness to share material with other members, and I hope this experience doesn't stop sharing in the future.

Who are these William Higgins models?
I'm especially interested in the guy on the right. (The guy on the left seems interested in him as well.)
Thanks very much.
