      @jbo1:

      OUTRAGED!!! How dare Pepsi run an ad that calls for unity and peace! We need to foment war!

      BLM and SJWs are like dictators who have no life on their own. They need to instigate war in order to stay relevant.

      Is that really what you think? So if you oppose this inane ad which is less about unity and peace and more about placing Pepsi in the ridiculous position of being the solution to all these protests you are fomenting war?  ::)

      Let's get this straight- the ad failed because the messaging was just plain DUMB> if you believe that handing out a Pepsi to police officers at a protest will end the conflict and bring everyone together- you're just stupid or utterly naive and gullible. Either way, best to carry a Pepsi around then, in case you ever need to get a cop to just smile and let you go.  :laugh:

      @magentas:

      @brianboru72:

      The core problem is that the ad pushes the absolutely ludicrous idea that Pepsi is the solution to all the conflicts and protests that are currently happening out there. It's manipulative in an obvious, hammer-to-the face way- with no subtlety whatsoever. Just a perfect example of very bad advertising.

      That is nothing new though.

      I'd like to buy the world a home, And furnish it with love.
      Grow apple trees and honey bees, And snow white turtle doves.
      If I could teach the world to sing, in perfect harmony,
      I'd buy the world a Coke, and keep it company…

      Soda is just flavored carbonated sugar water, so they need to pretend it is something more significant in ads. It brings people together, it defines a generation, it makes people happy, etc.

      It's a good point of comparison- one is successful because it's a hymn to sentiment- it is carried by a feeling, by emotion- and it doesn't try to oversell the product- and so it becomes a memorable jingle that sells soda on the side.

      The other ad oversells the product- it positions it front and center- trying to sell the story that sharing a soda will result in cheers and peaceful protests and smiling police officers. It loses control of the narrative and thus creates a negative reaction.

      That's why the Coke ad is remembered fondly many years later, while the Pepsi ad didn't last 2 days. They are worlds apart in execution.

    • RE: When getting rejected on apps, would you rather be outright rejected or ghosted?

      @warpaint:

      On the other side I hade not replying. It happens so much. A lot of guys were into me or were ready to meet and suddenly they were all like "…". Fucking silence. Not a word. One guy recently said he really likes me and loves the impression he has of me. It was the first guy since a long time that I actually hoped something will come out of and I did think of as an intelligent and attractive man. He gave me his number and went all quite. And THAT is fucking rude. I was like "well we don't have to talk if you don't want to" and he said "ok" ??? A fucking ok.  😠

      I totally agree with you- if it gets to that point where you've both shown interest and actually exchanged messages, then if he changes his mind, he should at least have the decency to say so and not just vanish into thin air. That's just rude.

      On the first exchange though, it doesn't matter to me either way- no message means you aren't interested and I'll just move on. But a No thanks, you're not my type kind of reply is extra polite and the effort is appreciated.

      Actually the Pepsi ad invited so much derision and mockery from all sides- not just from the Liberals- and it centers on just how bad of an ad it is. It's unbelievable in fact that during the whole process from conception to execution, not one member of the creative team stopped for a moment and asked- is this really a good idea?

      In fact, there's a really entertaining and insightful list of questions that came out regarding the ad worth reading:

    • RE: Porn Actors Who Look Great In Theory But Are Crap In Action

      Hmm, Interesting. For me it's not so much a turn-off as there just seems to be a spark lacking in general from the actual performances, even though they look great in stills.

      I can't single anyone out- I will more use a studio like Staxus for the most part as an example. Also some scenes from Helix. I love the stills and they have some hot models, and the teasers they release look great. But the sex itself feels mechanical- like it's something they need to get done, and there is something that makes them unable to connect with their partner.  😕

      As mentioned, there are gay characters in the series.
      One of them (Ryan) is played by a gay actor and was featured on Out magazine.  😉

    • RE: Hillary taking 90% of Haiti Donations

      I think we've made our point, and clearly given well thought out responses to all the things they have spewed at us.
      Some people will cling to their beliefs beyond all reason- and because of that, it becomes pointless to continue to engage, at least until the next big lie or falsehood they throw out which needs to be answered.
      If they have no proof for their side, then it's just empty rhetoric and alt-facts. Nothing more to see here.

    • RE: Lady Gaga or Madonna?

      Gaga made a huge splash and became one of the performers I really admire- but there's just no way she or almost anyone, can compare to the amazing accomplishments of Madonna.
      Madonna has successfully reinvented herself so many times, and stayed relevant over decades, it would be hard for any performer today to live up to her level of success.

      I'm just glad I live in a world where I can enjoy the music of both talented artists.  :love:

    • 13 Reasons Why

      A new binge worthy series from Netflix:
      13 Reasons Why http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1837492/ is based on the novel by Jay Asher.

      A student commits suicide and leaves 13 tapes behind to document and expose the dark secrets and events which led to her death. Really well-written, and features a strong cast. Give it a shot if you've got the time.

    • RE: Favorite TV show?

      There are so many good shows on right now, it's hard to pick out just a few.

      But-there is one show I am currently crazy about. It's got a GREAT cast- great acting paired with great writing.
      It's called IMPOSTERS and I can't recommend it strongly enough.  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5212822/

      It' s a dark comedy which has so many surprises I suggest you don't try to read any reviews until after watching the first episode at least.

    • RE: If not Trump.. who?

      He won and he doesn't know how to handle it. He has been an ineffectual leader, with among the lowest approval ratings for a newly elected president based on multiple polls.

      And Dene is right- why are these people so stuck up on Hillary that they act like the election isn't over? He won, so stop harping on how bad Hillary is to try to cover up his inadequacies. It's time to hold Trump accountable for his actions- his accomplishments and his growing list of failures!

      @Dene:

      Walls of text are doing my head in - but I need to clarify something.

      Are you saying that the democrats and the vatican are running a satanic paedophile ring ?

      :cheesy2: Wow! So awesome- it could be the plot of a Dan Blrown novel. Even better than Da Vinci Code! ;D

      Also- apologies to the OP on how far this has gotten from Canada and Trump. But whenever he's around, conspiracies and all sorts of alt-truths just seem to crop up. At least the polls seem clear on what many here feel.

      @mhorndisk:

      What you're not understanding is that there is no difference between the Republican and Democratic party. They are all in collusion with each other. They are just pretending to be different to divide and conquer.

      If you truly believe that, I pity you.  :cheerup:

      I'm not sure it's even physically possible to do that- but I do love burgers so yes, I will give it my best shot!

      For $1million would you move to another country, start a new life, and cut off all ties to everyone from your previous life?
