@manhandler said in Joe Biden WRECKS the Economy:

@bi4smooth Oh please, you act like the transportation cost being paid by the other side isn't figured into the cost. It's like "Happy Hour," but the company isn't losing money. You're paying for it. And I think the Pipeline that Whitmer shut down simultaneous to the hack hadn't had a leak in it's 65 years... far as I am aware.

Most pipeline leaks are detected and repaired relatively quickly - there are sensors built into the pipes themselves. That doesn't mean leaks don't happen, it just means the industry has used advanced technology to keep them out of the headlines! (Which is good!)

However, I think you mistakenly read my notion that your arguments against stopping the pipeline projects are scientifically, economically, and even common-sensically wrong as an indication that I'm anti-pipeline! I am not!

I am anti-hyperole - facts don't need to be blown up to be convincing
I am anti-propaganda - facts don't need to be invented to make Democrats look bad (they're pretty good at it all by themselves!)
I am anti-alternative facts - you don't have to lie to make liberals look stupid and wide-eyed... again, they do that pretty much without prompting!

The pipelines in question were designed to move oil & natural gas (different pipelines, not both in one pipe!) to our ports for export, or to refineries to make gasoline - also for export. While that means they weren't destined to help fix our energy distribution infrastructure issues, there are plenty of good reasons to support their use in getting these materials to the ports for export!

For one: while not designed to help the distribution of energy in this country - so not a direct affect on local gasoline prices/availability - by increasing the global availability of oil & natural gas, we can keep GLOBAL energy prices lower and KEEP (take?) more of that GLOBAL spending on energy right here at home!

@bi4smooth Yea dude, you're just pretending. You're not a good actor for those of us who can read between the lines. Although you do understand the middle view a little more than the radicals so I'll give you a pass because at least you have a level of discernment higher than the general population.

Being a good Republican does not require one to support Donald Trump

If you believe the lies Trump spouts, if you buy into the ultra-right-wing conspiracy theories, then you're a fool and a tool.... history will judge... and harshly, I dare say....

@manhandler said in Keep that mask on your face you dirty human.:

@bi4smooth Biden is not better. He's worse in every way possible. He doesn't know where he is. Nobody voted for him (you can tell because he had 3 people at one rally), so it makes the country look like there is no country anymore. Very bad, the way this affects people's spirit. He's destroyed the economy by cutting off the pipelines, which will make the cost of gas go up meaning the food prices as well. It's more polluting to ship it overseas. He's done nothing about the border (nothing), so all those kids have ended up in the hands of pedophiles and the drugs pouring over will make the coyotes richer and more powerful. Mexico is the second most dangerous country in the world because it's got gangs, and Biden's policies are enriching them. Let me count the ways. That Democrats are worse.

Wow ... Biden is bad - especially for our economy, but I don't have to make stuff up, be hyperbolic, or use a straw-man to prove my point:

      • Biden's mental capacity is no better or worse than Trump's -- DRAW
      • If you argued that most of the 80+million who voted for Biden were really voting against Trump, I'd buy it! (That's where I fall!) But it's hard to ignore 80+million votes....
      • I'm clueless what you mean by "it makes the country look like there's no country anymore"... how many people show up to a rally is a measure of how interested people are, not how many people there are...
      • The gas and oil pipelines Biden has put a stop to are/were not for local distribution - they're for getting oil & natural gas to the ports for export. It won't affect our gas prices, at least not directly. BUT that's not to say gas prices won't go up! All this federal spending and stimulus is putting extreme pressure on prices overall... inflation is here! Look at gas prices, true - but also look at home prices (hard to pin that on pipelines), food prices, equipment prices.... all are going up fast and Biden IS the root-cause, with all the extra cash flowing into the economy - especially cash with high velocity (which comes from giving it to the people directly).
NOTE We DO have an infrastructure/distribution problem in this country - but the pipelines Biden has shutdown weren't for that.... We have a TON of "deferred maintenance" problems with our infrastructure... but since we've just pumped $2T in cash into our economy, ALSO spending what's needed on Infrastructure at this time will just exacerbate the inflationary pressures we're already seeing!
      • Pollution from shipping is a minuscule DOT in the oceans when compared to the RAW SEWAGE our major cities dump into the waterways, and the floating "seas" of garbage out there... I agree it all adds up, but if you owed someone $100 million, would you spend your time counting $1 bills?
      • The border was a mess, it's still a mess. It's going to remain a mess until we find a way to stop people from coming here. It's like the illegal drug trade: so long as people want it, they'll find a way to get it (whether the "it" is cocaine or to live in Miami)... people are inventive as hell! Sadly, the idea of a border wall is 15th-Century thinking to solve a 21st-Century problem!
      • Kids that were being held in prison-like conditions are indeed being released to families - foster families around the country. Not pedophiles.
      • Mexico is indeed a problematic neighbor - but pointing a finger and shouting "bad boy" is not going to solve anything! We can't kick them out from being our neighbor! We need to try to help them gain control over their own country - and one way to do that would be to find a way to eliminate the extremely lucrative illegal drug trade... legalize (but control) recreational drugs, and you take away their money-line. But that's only one facet of the shit-show that is Mexico these days...
      • Biden's policies are bad, in most cases, IMHO... but he is applying his political beliefs to the problems (and not ignoring them). Do I look forward to voting him out of office in 3 years? YES! But only if the Republican nominee is someone other than Trump!

    • RE: Fauci emails released by FOIA, bad news for Fauci

@manhandler said in Fauci emails released by FOIA, bad news for Fauci:

@sosofly It wasn't a lie, and now the number is much higher. It's called the VAERS - Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System... thousands dead after getting vaxxed. Tucker didn't lie, this is recorded in the public reporting system. And the injuries are in the tens of thousands at least reported by those who know to report it.

This is ridiculous... As has been reported before: the percentage of people who die within 2-months of getting a vaccine is about the same as the percentage who die everyday, vaccine or no. Statistically there is no increased chance of death from getting the COVID-19 vaccines.

But let's get something straight here:

Being wrong is not the same as lying!

When you say "I have $30 in my wallet" and then actually take out your wallet and find only $20 there are 2 options:

      • You knew the actual amount in your wallet all along... you LIED
      • You honestly thought you had $30 in there... you were wrong

And finally, let me leave you with this:

      • Someone who continually gathers facts and alters their opinions/conclusions about those facts based on the new data gathered is a SCIENTIST
      • Someone who draws conclusions and then defends them, ignoring new data as it becomes known is an IDEOLOGUE

Dr. Fauci is a Scientist - he's never been (prior to Covid-19) a political person, and if you believe his interviews, he's professionally embarrassed that he's become political - even though he has tried to remain apolitical throughout. He has served under 7+ Presidents now... and when he's been wrong, he's admitted it! Why? Because he's dumb? No! Because he's a Scientist in a field where new data is being discovered every day - and some of that data is radically changing medicine as we know it today!

For the most part, Europe is to the left of the US. A European conservative would be comparable to a center-right American. I've lived here for the last 20 years.

Treating all of Europe as one, even similar, block is ludicrous - like combining the Deep South and New England would be in the US...

      TDS is Trump Derangement Syndrome.

      Trump is a sad-sack, self-aggrandizing loser.... but I don't think he's deranged.

I don't limit myself to a single viewpoint.

I would disagree - almost all of your posts come straight out of Conservative, Trump-Centric media... you're being spoon-fed this crap, and it shows.

You hate Tucker, but you admit you don't watch him, and yet you call him a liar. How would you know?!

I've never claimed to hate Tucker Carlson. I've called him out when he's said some dumb stuff, but then - anyone on live, unscripted TV for as many hours a week as he is would be bound to say some dumb stuff now and then (I think he's "hitting above average" in the obvious propaganda department, but that's what he's paid to do!

Tucker is a "new media" kind of news personality - its not about the news being right or wrong, it's about propaganda and ratings. But more than that, it's also about the "host" becoming the news...

As they say: There's no such thing as BAD publicity

It's funny how you think that my posts are about Trump, when in fact they are mostly anti-liberal. Obviously, anyone with as an extreme case of TDS reads Trump into everything.

Actually, you tie almost everything back to Trump. At least in the postings I reply to... as I've noted before, when your postings are in-line with my Conservative beliefs, I nearly always do not reply, unless it is to remark (as I have a few times now) that we agree about something.

@raphjd said in Judge Joe Brown says Biden called Black People "Cockroaches.":

      @manhandler

Biden has made many, many comments about blacks, which liberals have ignored.

As we see with our fake Repub, they will excuse any and everything Biden does because he isn't Trump. They would rather destroy the country than have Trump.

Assuming you mean me with your "Fake Repub" label (my voter registration would easily prove you wrong there... I'm a true Republican, just not a Trumpite Republican... and if the Trumpites don't lighten up and make room for the other Republicans in the party, they're going to see that 25-30% simply cannot win any elections!)

But you (shockingly!) didn't get my views on Trump and the destruction of America right... (Actually, what's shocking is that you continue to try to explain what other people think when you do so poorly at explaining what you, yourself, think!)

I/we (non-Trump Republicans who voted against him) believed the country would have been destroyed (or come much closer to destruction) with Trump.

I don't impugn your motives in blindly following a proven loser. I actually assume most Trump supporters believe themselves to be true patriots for standing up for their President... that they're being fooled is on their leaders more than on them!

Still, I would request that you return the favor and not impugn my motives, or the motives of other people who voted against Trump - the vast majority of whom also think of themselves as true patriots for standing up for what they believe in.

The fact that it's at odds with what you believe does NOT make them EVIL or anti-American... it makes them believe differently than you...

      That's all!

    • RE: Fauci emails released by FOIA, bad news for Fauci

Your "smoking gun" is a water pistol. The email most people are talking about is an email from someone at the Wuhan lab thanking him for saying that the virus probably came from an animal-to-human cross-species transmission.

So, if I send an email to Donald Trump thanking him for all of his service to Mother Russia, does that make Trump a Russian agent?

      No!

In both cases, it's an email TO the concerned party - it could say ANYTHING! There's no collusion with Fauci & Wuhan, any more than there was with Trump and Russia! (It'd be different if the email was FROM Fauci saying something like: I hope you liked it - I did what you said and deferred blame from you. When can I expect the funds?)

At the time of the email, Fauci had made those comments - and there is no evidence of any trail back to Wuhan BEFORE then... so he said something that they liked... and they thanked him for it... that doesn't mean there was a prior arrangement, just that they were thankful for his comments!

Did Fauci reverse course on masks over time? Sure! So did Leonardo DaVinci on the possibility of flight... so did Trump supporters on the value of the COVID-19 vaccines! (Pre-Election they were all for them! Trump was a SAVIOR for steamrolling the whole process through in RECORD time!... but POST-Election, it's suddenly a Democrat ploy to inject you with super-computer chips that will control your mind and allow the government to just turn you off, like a machine.)

COVID came at us fast and furious... we were learning a LOT about it in a very short time. Remember at the beginning when you were supposed to wear gloves and use hand sanitizer when you brought home your groceries? We thought it lived on surfaces (turns out, that was wrong)... At that time, we also didn't think it was spread by aerosol... (turns out, that was wrong too)... but that's the beauty of the Scientific Method - you test your theories, and the ones that hold up you cling to, and the ones that do not, you discard! (And if you happen to have one of those theories that has held up for decades - or even centuries - and you prove it is wrong, you discard it! Truth is truth!)

But in the early days of COVID-19, we didn't want to wait for test results, we wanted to know NOW what the experts THOUGHT! Tested or not! So, the politically stupid scientists gave us what we wanted!: The unproven theories of the moment. They foolishly believed that, like any good scientist, you'd understand that some of them would prove to be wrong.

Look, there were a LOT of mistakes made in early 2020 when this first started to hit... Trump made many of those mistakes - but he's not to blame (any more than Fauci is) - we used the info that we had! We did what we thought was best at the time, given VERY LITTLE actual scientific research/results. And, predictably so, a lot of it was wrong.... hindsight is 20/20!

      BUT this (mid-2021) ain't that!

We know a LOT more now than we did then - including the fact that COVID-19 does not live for long on surfaces (in fact, once the water droplets they're in evaporate, the virus dies rather quickly!), and the fact that it spreads MOSTLY by aerosol, and that masks - even simple cloth ones - do an EXCELLENT job of "knocking down" the water droplets infected with the virus and thereby SIGNIFICANTLY reducing the area around us where exhaled breath droplets (potentially COVID-19 infected) can spread.

So a year ago, Fauci and his ilk got some COVID-19 facts wrong. So did a LOT of politicians (Trump, yes, but others too... virtually ALL of them to tell the truth!).

That people got things wrong isn't the question - it's what they did/do when they find out they're wrong that is what's important! Do they admit it and correct themselves? Or, do they cling to the information (that they now KNOW to be wrong) because they don't want to admit (or look like) they were wrong.

Scientists do the former. Politicians do the latter. (Apparently even politicians who are scientists, sadly).

The consequences of that would be for the Dear Leader to move to Florida and no longer have a pulpit. (But fear not, his cult members will continue to worship him. @eobox91103 It's not difficult information to find:

      https://www.climatecentral.org/news/study-finds-plant-growth-surges-as-co2-levels-rise-16094

Go to the first reference that this article cites, from GRL. The abstract of that paper states, in part, "The role in this greening of the “CO2 fertilization” effect—the enhancement of photosynthesis due to rising CO2 levels—is yet to be established."

I'm not familiar with climatecentral.org, so I don't know how much to trust them. I did find, though, an interesting page at https://www.climatecentral.org/news/report-flooded-future-global-vulnerability-to-sea-level-rise-worse-than-previously-understood. Here's part of what that page says:

Global warming has raised global sea level about 8 inches since 1880, and the rate of rise is accelerating. Rising seas dramatically increase the odds of damaging floods from storm surges. A Climate Central analysis finds the odds of “century” or worse floods occurring by 2030 are on track to double or more, over widespread areas of the U.S.

But wait! Water is good! (Just like CO2 is good!)...
and water is necessary for life (just like CO2 is necessary for life)...

Are you saying that MORE (too much) water is bad? I'm confused...

@raphjd said in Where is the Conservative Outrage?:

      @bi4smooth

Your TDS is so extreme that you view everything through those lenses.

By law, the BBC is required to be neutral in its reporting, but they have a heavy leftist bias. I'm sure the ABC has similar requirements.

You are so blinded by your opposition to me, you can't see the IDIOCY of what you speak.

My posting said that ALL news organizations have a bias - if only in their choice of what stories to "publish".

      • When I choose to report (factually) about the black officer shooting a white man, but choose to NOT report about the black officer shooting a black man - there is a bias. Even if the reporting itself is totally factual and unbiased, the choice of what to report and what NOT to report is going to have a bias - it has to, people are people.

The BBC has many legal requirements - it is state-owned and operated. The ABC (Australian) is actually (on purpose) molded after the BBC model. Both have a reputation for being somewhat Liberal in their editorial bias, but both also have strong reputations for reporting truthfully and fairly.

But to be fair to both - what's "liberal" in the UK and AU is not necessarily aligned with what's considered "liberal" in the US. (Typical of US residents to "Americanize" all other parts of the world - a little surprised to find you guilty of that as well, in that you live overseas).

In Germany, DW (Deutsche Welle) is also considered "slightly left center", but it's hard to get English Language (I don't read German) news from Gernany (arguably the strongest EU member nation)...

Also, as I stated in my original posting - and repeated just today - this isn't a "complete list" of sites I scan for news... but they are the more well-known. In Australia there is also Sky News (their version of Fox News) - but I often read those articles mainly when I'm interested in the internal politics of Australia - where the biases of both mostly appears.

When you limit yourself to a single viewpoint (when you choose to put yourself into an echo-chamber of like-minded people), you miss opportunities for personal and intellectual growth.

That said, I have no interest in either side's ultra-partisan "news" outlets.. Mother Jones and OAN alike! I'm not hyper-partisan, and I don't like the hyper-partisan "spin" outlets like these use to spin (and sometimes blatantly falsify) their reporting (they BOTH do it!).

You like to say that I have "TDS" (assumed to be something like "Trump Dysliexia Syndrome" or some other D-word)... but I'm not AUTHORING posts against Trump! I'm replying to YOUR posts that are spouting pro-Trump propaganda...

For posts you make about non-Trump items, we've been in agreement on multiple occasions. But when you (and others like you) spout off right-wing conspiracy theory laden tales of military coups and magical returns to power, I DO reply - because it is dangerous to let such things go unchallenged.

Honestly, other than when replying to your hyper-Trump blitherings, I don't think about Trump any more than I do about Obama or Carter or the Clintons or the Bushes... they're all historical footnotes waiting around to die and let History grade their lives... I'm more interested in the future than the past.

@bi4smooth Uh, yea, and the real shit is exactly what I said. Now we have to pay for pollution to ship the oil overseas instead of our nice clean pipelines (that don't leak because we have technology and steel.) Biden then lifted the sanctions on the Russia pipeline so Russia can get their gas to Germany. The idea that Biden has no say in the matter is really unfounded.

      Um... unfounded...

Pipelines leak - they all do, it's in their nature. The newer technology doesn't involve steel, and it doesn't prevent ALL leaks: what the newer pipelines do is make leak DETECTION better, so that when it DOES leak (and it will), it is detected faster, repaired faster, and the environmental damage is less.

BTW: the energy-based environmental impact of a pipeline vs a tanker (truck or ship) aren't as great as you might think... those pipelines have a LOT of motors in them to keep the stuff flowing!

To another point... WE are the EXPORTER... WE don't "pay" for the transportation costs, the CONSUMER does (like when we bought all our oil from the Middle East!)...

Your understanding of economics, physics (power consumption), and technology in general is equivalent to a 3rd grader... do some research before you spout off about things you literally know nothing about!

I hope you realize that according to your boy Honest Joe's own words, he is far more of a dictator than Trump ever was.

Honest Joe is more of a dictator in that he is going through the military, Secret Service, National Guard, and Capitol Police and chucking out those that are not loyal to him personally.

I'm not sure how you get the idea that I'm pro-Biden!
NOT liking Trump is NOT the same as LIKING Biden! You present a false dichotomy (not at all unlike you, BTW.... just sayin'!)

      Biden is bad

      Trump would have been worse

We are where we are because we had options of bad and worse available to us... that's the system though!

@manhandler said in Where is the Conservative Outrage?:

@bi4smooth Can you demonstrate what you just stated in more detail so that we can fact check it ourselves?

Start reading non-US news accounts... Try some of these:

      • http://www.dw.com (German)
      • http://www/bbc.com (British)
      • http://www.abc.net.au (Australia)

I also read translated news from the Middle East and Japan...

I don't know the German site, but the other 2 are leftist shite.

Anything that doesn't toe the Trump line is shite to you... I understand...
ALL news organizations have an editorial bias to one degree or another (in LEGIT ones, it mostly shows in the choice of stories they run, not so much in the facts of the stories themselves).

The point of listing those sites was to say: don't get ALL of your news from US sources - in the US, I read articles on CNN.com as well as FoxNews.com... and multiple other US sources... (yes, I read a lot - I get PAID (in my job) to read a lot! LOL)

Those sites are INTERNATIONAL sites I get news from... that's all...

Please if you have any sage wisdom to pass on about creating torrents I am all ears...or even if you want to talk dirty, I am still all ears. Thank you for letting me say hello.

I return your greetings and warmly welcome you to the forum. Folks here are generally quite helpful and friendly (so long as you stay out of the Politics section).

As for uploading content, we LOVE our uploaders! (we depend on them for content!)

Just please make sure that what you're uploading is NEW content (not a duplication)... best to read the uploading rules before you start:

@manhandler said in Joe Biden WRECKS the Economy:

Nevermind that now we have to pay for pollution, to ship the oil overseas rather than just streamline it through a gaspipe (like the very people we're buying it from do)... shutting down the XL pipeline, then a hack on the NE pipeline, then Whitmer cancelling another Canadian pipeline, then shutting off Alaska pipelines today!!! Then another hack today on farms. All in the name of reducing CO2 that is OXYGEN to TREES and INCREASES vegetation. It's upside down world. And the solar and all those alternatives like batteries and electric power rely on a lot more pollution. The nickel I think is one of the big factors in electric cars. Very bad for the environment to go green, worse than just with "green tech." Which isn't green at all one single bit! I almost forgot! Joe Biden also cut sanctions from Germany to Russia so now Russia can supply their gas and oil to Germany, while the US pays for Germany's protection from Russia. Russia gets the same kind of Keystone Pipeline that the US needed but it's ok. When the price of gas and food skyrocket, don't complain to me about it. You are the ones promoting this racial and socio-economic warfare.

Joe Biden is a crime-in-action against our economy... but not for ANY of the reasons you espouse above!

Biden's making a LOT of mistakes... and doing a LOT of crazy shit! But let's call him out of the REAL stuff, not the made-up shit, OK?

His economic stimulus plan is already causing inflation - and since all of our economic indicators for inflation are "trailing" indicators, it'll take weeks or months for us to realize just how bad it is... but you can see it YOURSELF now:

      • Gas prices are skyrocketing
      • Car and home prices are skyrocketing
      • food and energy prices are falling - oh wait, no! They're going thru the roof!

And now they want to pump ANOTHER $2T (and another $2T after THAT!) into this economy? F****G fools! (It's time to switch to precious metals...)

The US is already a net exporter of (natural) gas and (crude) oil, not to mention the largest refiner of oil in the world... but we'd be downright stupid if we didn't see the "writing on the wall" that the "energy future" isn't oil & gas, it's renewables like solar and wind. All it's gonna take is a significant LEAP in battery and/or solar power conversion and we'll see oil & gas consumption start to fall quickly. We can prepare for it, or face absolute ruin (like the Saudis) when it comes!

This may come as a surprise to you, but Joe Biden has (and had) no say in the matter of Germany and Russia's gas economy. Nope... just... No... not in the power of the Presidency (no matter what Trump may have thought when he was there).

The list could go on, but I'm tired....

Biden's a schmuck ... but let's call him out on his REAL shit, not some made-up shit!

I work my ass off. I make money. I fund the government. My compadres who take a check to sit at home are who I'm paying. Communist nations through history have killed off the useless. These are the vaccinated today. I hate it because I know that the vaccinated are going to die within a few years. Then we'll be left to deal with the cleanup.

When all the vaccinated people die in a few years, think of the AWESOME real estate bargains you'll have available!
