So, please understand that a ChromeBook runs Android - a version of Linux for Phones.

The Apps you install on ChromeBook are either Apps for Android or Apps for Linux.

Unlike Apple, there ARE torrent apps for Android (BigyBT is often listed as a favorite for Android, but I don't use Android Apps so I have no personal knowledge... and qBitTorrent is available for Linux, and I personally use qBitTorrent on Linux and it's great - though it does look/feel more like a Windows App even on Linux.. but that's the point: Same interface, all platforms!)

I don't know how seeding will work in this environment, but it'd be cool if you wrote back here if/when you figured it all out!

You can disable the SSL checking...

NOTE: Even if you re-install Windows, whether that would fix you might well depend on WHICH version of Windows you re-install with! (Reinstall with 1909 and you LIKELY would have the same issue!)

Maybe call a computer repair shop around you and get online help? (Make sure they know what the issue is before you let them try to fix it!)

Are you sure it didn't start Friday?
There is an issue - not with the site, but with many versions of Windows and MacOS - that have been installed for a while and have an OLD copy of a CA (top-level) certificate that has now expired.

Read more HERE and HERE and some people think THIS ONE helps too.

To be clear about a couple of things:

• This is not a certificate error, this is a CA (Certificate Authority) expiration
• The issue is caused - in this case, at least partially - by a practice known as cross-signing... something DESIGNED to increase the likelihood that good certs will be trusted... but in this case, that approach has back-fired.
• The fix happens on YOUR END (the client-end), not the server end.

Depending on your client, you can disable SSL certificate validation (risky), or do the homework (see links above) and fix your rig. (You could also use the sledgehammer approach and re-image your system with the latest release of Windows, MacOS, or Linux! New, updated versions do not include the expired CA Cert)

Finally, this has been happening of-late because CA (Trusted Store) certs are usually issued with 10 or 20 year expirations... and, well, they're expiring!

There is a difference between "attraction," "desire," and "action."

In MOST cases (that is: in my experience) when a torrent has been taken down I have received a note. (Duplicate, DMCA, or whatever)

i found the solution:

add the following line into .rtorrent.rc file.
network.http.ssl_verify_peer.set=0

after saving the file, restart rtorrent service

So you know: the SSL issue is Internet-wide and is caused by the expiration of an older CA (Certificate Authority) cert. It's exacerbated by some cross-signing of other CA and ICA (intermediate certificate authority) certs, but generally one VERY OLD CA cert expired and it's having unintended effects widely!

But the answer is to fix your Windows (or Mac)... your torrent client lets your OS "trust" (or not) the SSL certs... if your Windows (or Mac or Linux or phone!) trusted CA certs are out-of-date, you're getting these kinds of errors. Fix the "Trusted Store" in your OS, then reboot (it mostly only reads the Trusted Store at boot time so you need to reboot to "reload" them...

Disabling the SSL checking will work - but it also opens you up to malicious attacks through your torrent client. Low risk, perhaps - but a risk. Once you fix your SSL Trusted Store, turn the checking back on in your client!

If you look hard in the Transmission settings, you SHOULD find an SSL (or rather, an ignore SSL errors) setting. My Mac is broken right now, so I can't give you point and click instructions, but I'm confident it is there.

Finally, as @raphjd said above, the tracker issue is an SSL problem - unrelated to the Forum's "self-correcting bounce" (my term)... but the SSL issue is NOT solely related to this site or the LetsEncrypt SSL distributor/issuer... the CA (Certificate Authority) certificates are issued (unlike your own SSL cert) for YEARS! Decades, even!

This is going to be a problem for a LOT of early IoT devices - some of whom simply cannot be updated easily (if at all).

In the meantime, check out this Apple site - I didn't read deeply into it (I didn't follow the links - and with my Mac being down, I can't check out its veracity), but it purports to allow you to update the CA Store on your Apple devices...

Ok ok... so in general, you cannot seed a torrent from anything other than a desktop-style client. Web-based (browser plugins) torrent CLIENTS are just that: clients (download) only! Browsers can't just SEND data off of your computer to anyone who asks for it! (If so, please send my your account names and passwords?)... browsers are designed to send a little, download a lot! not the other way around.... same for phones and tablets.... there's not a lot of storage there, so send a little, take a lot - but mostly to show on the screen, not store!

There ARE exceptions - there are things called "seed-bots" and other cloud-based "incantations" that will also work... but in general, for the hardware you likely have at home, you need to run a full-blown torrent app (like qBitTorrent or uTorrent) to be able to successfully download (leech) AND upload (seed)!

Before you start throwing your client "under the bus", please note that a LOT of sites on the Internet are being affected by a CA cert expiration at one of the largest SSL certificate providers. It's not that it wasn't planned for, just that a lot of Windows systems didn't get the update!

Not to get too technical, but that's a parent of a parent of the SSL cert (and there MAY be additional levels!) expiring... making a LOT of things on the Internet that depend on SSL for security to fail.

Some torrent clients will "fail" if the SSL cert isn't authentic, others will ignore (qBittorrent has a switch)...

Fix your Windows before you DITCH a perfectly good torrent client!

NOTE: The SAME condition exists on MACs, Linux systems, even cloud systems! The issue is in the SSL infrastructure, NOT in the OS itself!
