Upscale a SD video and adding frames to make it 60 fps interpolated, (sorry is someone feels ofended) that's bullshit.
It has no sense, you won't get better quality by doing that, you will just get a bigger file size.
The reason why there are old films restores to HD/4K versions and they look really good, it's because those films (of big studios, with big budget generally) recorded them in 35mm, 65mm and 70mm films stock, the way image was saved in those films stock was completally different from actual digital cameras.
But if you don't have those original films stocks, you won't get better quality from an DVD image.
The best you can do, as eobox91103 says, if let televisions use their own system to adjust the image, if the video your playing has good quality (for example a well encoded SD video from a DVD source) it will look better than those upscaled videos, even if it's not HD.

However, deep-learning super-resolution - while really much better than anything else - is extremely expensive, complex and taxing to implement: this stuff usually runs on what a normal person can already consider a "supercomputer" ($15k computer equipment, most of the time). If you are a prosumer gamer type, then you might be able to upscale a few videos and get cool results, but for the average joe, this approach is simply impractically (and probably, shall I say, unnecessary).
The way I see it, in order to truly "upscale," the program would have to literally be able to add new pixels! In essence, the program would have to create a new image, frame by frame. And when I say add, I don't mean stretch the freakin' thing, or change the ratio! I literally mean create a new image from old. And if such program exists, it wouldn't be perfect anyway, if the original source was fucked up to begin with. Don't people test this shit out? I don't understand how encoder believe have the shit they talk about.

You know, I know people read me say this ad nauseum. I've been pirating for a long time. I know a lot of things that most casual computer users don't know. I'll admit, it's partly due to the fact that I'm on my computer more than the average person. Whether that's good or not, I guess it's up to debate. Having said that, I've been reading a lot about this growing cult following of HEVC files.
From my many years of experience, here's my two cents….. Reading about HEVC is a lot like the battle between MAC and IBM compatibles in the 80s. I've seen some pretty over heated discussions about these two giants, in fact, I've seen people get to the point of insulting each other, as if Macintosh (a non-human computer) was actually a family member. It was quite interesting to see, yet it was very baffling. The debates on any current computer technology can get as dangerous as discussing religion (if you can "believe" that).
I'm not going to make this a huge blog post, I just want to make this as simple and as straight to the point as possible. Reading about HEVC has become a little like the whole debate about the differences between MP3 and AAC, or the sound quality between iTunes & Spotify. I'm going to say this as clear and as unambiguous as I can possibly make it. If you actually need to use a software to make a comparison between algorithms? Guess what dudes? That means it's not enough to have an obsession over it. We're at the point with technology were we really can't do much better than what we're doing now. I guess the next step would be true DD 7.1 using regular headphones.
To get yourself worked up to the point where you're spending hours and hours of unhealthy time, remuxing and reencoding files just because you have an obsession for these codecs, it's not worth it.
Please consider one important fact. Codecs are ALWAYS being improved! It makes absolutely NO kind of sense to re-encode your entire library to something like HEVC, when 10 years down the line, there's gonna be something better! There will ALWAYS be something better than the last. This is how technology works!
Second, you MUST remember and consider the fact that people from all over the world come to use private trackers. Not everyone will be using devices that will be compatible with whatever codec you're obsessed with at a given moment. You're defeating the purpose of being able to share your gems with others. Doesn't do any good if there is a segment of people who has to skip over your torrents, because you maybe using a torrent that too new, or has not been around long enough to become standardized. Just let that sink in for a minute!
Ripping a movie is very complex (contrary to belief), and those of us who have higher end TV's can see when someone fucks up a codec. Most importantly, don't bother trying to upscale a DVDrip, because there is very little improvement, when it's only a fraction of a bitrate from the original BRray.

I am desperately trying to increase my ratio and have uploaded a small sized torrent. Now after a few hours my ratio has barely moved and the 25 people that downladed it will also now share the seed when new people download. So now it will take even longer. What am I to do? I want to contribute, but I don't have access to these pay-sites and I don't have any money to donate.
Not to sound rude (don't take it like that), but this is simply a case where you need to understand torrents more. If you understood torrents, you wouldn't try to increase your ratio with a small file. Without getting long winded (but you still need to read outside this tracker), the whole essence of torrents is that you must give to get back. Therefore, you say to yourself, "I can't possibly be able to download 6GB worth of files while only seeding/offering a 298MB file." Nuff said.

Honestly, I don't believe in those things. There is very little improvement that can be made from an "upscaled" DVD. Same is true when someone thinks that can take an audio recording from MONO and make it HD. All you're really doing is just making it stereo! The only thing other you can probably do is adjust the equalizer to make the sound more pleasing. But it's still an analog recording.
The only reason why people do this is their crazy beliefs, or they just want a larger file to bet a bigger ratio return.

That is correct. You can see what you actually uploaded in your main profile. However, I suggest that you do not upload files that large at one time. You have to be mindful that not everyone has a good bandwidth, or ratio for that matter. Even if we all had phenomenal bandwidth, we human beings on this planet cannot go through millions of files in one day.
I don't believe I've asked this question before….. But..... Are str8 private trackers getting meaner? I don't remember trackers being so petty. I just had an issue with a tracker that claimed I was giving "spoilers" on a TV show. It became immediately clear to me that had he been familiar with the show, or even watched one episode, he'd know that I gave no spoilers. I really do think that many of these mods are pissed off at the world! These kinds of experiences remind me over, and over again why I stick to public trackers.

Straight people are far more likely to be mean, intolerant, cheap and demanding. Just look on chaturbate. A gay room with 50 viewers has as many people tipping as a straight room with 10000 viewers. Don't mind me guys, I'm just venting my frustrations that's all! I've realized I've became very depressed in regards to torrenting. I don't mean to sound like an old gay war vet, rambling about the "good ol" days of torrenting. However, I came from the Demonoid generation, and anyone who has ever been a part of the Demonoid generation knows that this was the best era for pirates. I'll try to make this article as short as I possibly can. In essence, in the beginning, torrenting was truly about sharing. But, sharing not just the latest music and what have you, torrents was the perfect medium to share one's personal collections of hard-to-get collections, collections that were out of print, or non-retail, out to the public. We were able to sharing things that no one would be able to obtain other wise. Torrent was a miracle for the poor. Even twenty years ago, entertainment was still extremely expensive, relative to now.
But, once people were getting busted for copyright infringement via bittorrent, people were frightened of pubic trackers. In addition, very few people that were using bittorrent had the technical aptitude to really understand how it worked, and the important of learning what a VPN was. In absolute sheer fright, many people immediately turned to private trackers. Feeling that since private trackers were exclusive, with their "invite only," memberships, they were safe. For the most part, that last statement is almost true. It is still possible to get caught on a major private tracker such as IPT for example, but the chances are extremely small. Private trackers like IPT are now using the fears of uninformed torrent users to their advantage in order to make serious money.
People who are just getting in to the torrent game do not have a wider perspective of torrents and it's digital culture. Torrents are no longer about sharing any more, it is now a business. The business of making money, while using it's members to do it. More an more trackers are following the model of sites like IPT. Maybe I'm wrong, but I do see this as, one day (eventually) the copyright holders are going to find some why of slamming these private trackers hard. The culture back then was "sharing is caring," "sharing movies was about fair use." Now, torrenting is about a private tracker's scheme to make lots of money, and set rules that are so complicated, the only thing you're left to do is to just pay to download in essence (and on top of that you're required to seed a lot longer!).
Personally, I am really disgusted with the private tracker community. I swear to you, there only a hand full of private trackers that have staff that respects it's members. They don't care whether you've donated or not; they will ban you faster than quick, if what you say is interpreted as "out of line." This is unexceptionable abuse of power. I behoove members to make the effort to learn what a VPN is, and or preferably, what a seedbox is, and free yourself of feeling obligated to stay with these abusive sites. They get away with a lot of abuse, because I believe the members often don't know any better. We must stop giving money to these types of trackers.
But you know what? Not to sound bias, I've NEVER seemed to experience the same kind of fuckery on gay sites! Gay sites appear to be soo much nicer and kinder than the average heterosexual tracker. I don't think this is my imagination. Maybe it's due to all the porn? LOLOLOLOLOL. I'm asking all members reading my letter to seriously take heed, and pay attention to what I've written! Unless you are looking for really specialized content, it is not necessary to break your neck, paying for invites and all that shit, just to try and get in to a bullshit tracker who will wind up disrespecting you in the end. Sometimes this happens. Check to see if the video works. It might have been because it came with a missing text file or something, and the poster deleted it. It could be a lot of things.
So lately I have been encountering lots of grindr profiles refusing to meet without an Online Dating Verification ID, most recent one is GLAAD ID, there were several others as well.
